Safe Exhaust Gas Temperature Egt
urtwhistle replied to DVS JEZ's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Id love to have had my pyro setup last time I did a burn out because when I popped the bonnet about 2 mins later the exhaust housing was still glowing. I put mine about 50mm back from the turbo housing on the dump pipe. -
Safe Exhaust Gas Temperature Egt
urtwhistle replied to DVS JEZ's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If I remember correctly the max is about 650deg for unleaded. you will have much more luck on this kind of info if you haunt the ANDRAA drag racing forums. Alot of drag cars are tuned via EGT instead of AFR. -
Apexi Pfc, Copilot, And Pc Interface
urtwhistle replied to stricnynel0s's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey mate, Im in perth with a ER34 pfc and your FC hako. The 1.01 firm ware made it alot easier to get it log for me. yet I still get the odd glitch with FC edit locking up. Were do I get the model code? can I view it with the commander or do I need remove the fc and read it off the sticker??? Chris -
Rb25/30 Rb30det Vvt Internal Oil Control
urtwhistle replied to psi's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I went the external oil feed route on my neo. -
I'm noticing that people seem to be spending a lot of time making there engines look pretty. Call me lazy I just wanted the bastard thing running sooner, my car is more like the ugly porn star. It does the job damn well but just a little ghetto at the same time.

get a PFC Hako instead. much cheaper too

What Wide Band 02 For Power Fc?
urtwhistle replied to 17psi r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey Zebra, I got the new 2J9. I'm pretty sure the only diff is internally different circuitry and the cable like you mentioned. -
What Wide Band 02 For Power Fc?
urtwhistle replied to 17psi r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hello, I just purchased a Techedge 2J wideband, FC Haku, EGT temp thermocouple and a amplifier to bring the output up to 0-5v. That way I should be able to put both the wide band and temp outputs into the FC HAKU extra inputs and log every thing that happends for a grand total of about $600.00 . I'll update you when it all arrives and I get it working properly. regards Chris -
R34det Neo Gearbox Fitting In R32 Gts
urtwhistle replied to GTS_Kid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
better off going a box from a R33 therefore you can escape from paying twice as much for a clutch. -
I got an OP6 housing too that has been machined to suit a hypergear highflow too. if any 1 wants to buy me a carton lol
-
I would love to know also for my R34. I got quoted $500 for a genuwine Nissan core. Mine died when my head gasket went and pressurised the cooling system. In the mean time you could do what I did and take the hoses off the back of the heater were it goes through the fire wall and connect the 2 hoses together. regards chris

the problem is with my setup, is that when I modify the petrol tune signifiicantly it throws the gas tune off. Other then retuning it all the time I have no idea. Im buying a wideband o2, pyro and data logger for the power FC shortly to make this process a bit cheaper and easier.

Conversion - Rb20 Silvia To Rb26
urtwhistle replied to want_33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hell yeah the sound of a Rb20 at high revv's is unreal, any 1 remember the vid of the 80's race skyline RB20 NA screaming at like 8000rpm.... -
I think you missing the fact that the GOLF R is actually 4wd not FWD, AKA R33 golf with 2lt Turbo instead of the 3.2l V6.

your not wrong Bubba, the few times Andrew has told me to drive my car out of the shop I have had to get out cos I cant see the bonnet and worried about hitting the cars and hoists. Ps that sucks for me, It was real convenient for me working a 100m from them.

As helpfull as Briffa is, I don't think he would be your best bet. But I would go straight to the supplier http://www.atlasmetals.com.au/ they are in Malaga. regards Chris

+50 from me too. I reckon I have harrassed them more times in the last 3 years then I'd care to admit to. I'm shocked they havn't put a restraining order on me. Always a honest answer, whether I take the advice or not. cheers guys

urtwhistle replied to s2d4's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
unless its made to line so the return line runs between the intake runners. -
14mm Fuel Rail, Return Nipple On The Same Side As Injectors?
urtwhistle replied to s2d4's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Does seem odd, I would have thought it would be on the opp face or atleast 90 deg with a nipple welded on for say either a return or pressure gauge. -
cheers for the link. ok I opened up the old RB30DET Howto for an unrelated reason and spotted this under cams Cam Duration (IN) Cam Duration(EX) Cam liftIN(mm) Cam liftEX(mm) Lobe centreangle (IN) Lobe centre angle (EX) NVCSrange(rpm) 236° 232° 8.40 8.70 119° 115° below 5400 Therefore when I have the dial gauge and degree wheel setup correctly. In theory at full valve lift the timing should be at 119 degree's. regards Chris

Hello, firstly I want to say yes I have searched and posted this more then once before in the RB30DET thread with no response. I was hoping I may be able to get some advice regarding setting up standard Neo cams on a bastardized RB30DET that I have recently built. When I built the motor I had a momentary lapse of reason and never fitted my adjustable cam gear. My timing is clearly out, but all timing marks line up and the VCT is working also (marks on cover appear dodgy and I don't trust them). I therefore intend on dialing the cams in properly once and for all with a mag base dial indicator but to do that I need to know the correct positioning for a RB25 Neo. standard RB25DET NEO Camshaft duration 236°in, 232°ex lift: 8.4mm in, 8.7mm ex Does any 1 know what degree's in relation to TDC the intake cam is set to or @ 0.040" of lift? Either should get me the correct position and then I can move the exhaust position while sitting on the dyno. The manual tells me to match up to the timing cover marks and also mentions that the cam shaft dowl pins are 14 deg from horizontal. Is that at TDC? Thanks in advance. Chris

ooooohhhh sounds like it would have been a mission to build the box. nice work

What something like this Dan?

Hey guys, I have posted this a few times in the past but I thought some 1 here may be able to answer it. so please excuse my copy and paste I was hoping I may be able to ask for some advice regarding setting up standard Neo cams on a bastardized RB30DET that I have recently built and dropped into my R34. When I built the motor I had a momentary lapse of reason and never fitted my adjustable exhaust cam gear. My timing is clearly out, but all timing marks line up and the VCT is working also (marks appear dodgy and I don't trust them). I intend on dialing the cams in properly once and for all with a mag base dial indicator but to do that I need to know the correct STANDARD settings for a RB25 Neo. standard RB25DET NEO Camshaft duration 236°in, 232°ex lift: 8.4mm in, 8.7mm ex Do you know what degree's in relation to TDC the intake cam is set to or @ 0.040" of lift? I have herd a similar story regarding a RB30ET that was getting machined. pistons being returned with damage from some 1 dropping on concrete then denying all knowledge and a preped v8 going missing for 18 months then randomly showing up.
