  1. Jash. agreed. not everyone is an enthusiast. some people are indeed crusty and pathetically un-proffessional "quick buck" types, and these guys are probably the worst of the lot. theyre also probably the easiest guys to pick. Im not prepared to go out on a limb, because I can only really speak from my own experience, however I do know of people who have been dissatisfied by the service they got from "enthusiast shops". My advice therefore is simply to do as much homework as possible. speak to everyone and anyone and read everything. make sure that you dont have any unanswered questions by the time you fork out your money. be an informed buyer.
  2. Mat, you will find that everyone hasvarying opinions on who is "good". my advice is that having come this far, dont rush out and buy a car this week. Talk to LOTS of people who have bought cars and their own experiences. Like I put in another post some time back, everyone in this scene is essentially an enthusiast. (THIS NEXT STATEMENT IS NOT DIRECTED AT ANY ONE PARTICULAR GROUP/COMPANY) Whilst that might make them enthusiatic, it doesnt necessarily translate into excellent customer-oriented-business or proffessionalism. there are quite a few dodgy cats around, and its unfortunate, but sometimes the only way to identify them is to ask people for their own experiences. 2c.
  3. haha. I figured Judged would read this sooner or later. I reckon it's fundementally a load of shit to label everyone who has a sticker on their car a dHead. as long as you can have fun and not take yourself too seriously, then that's what it's all about. Id rather enjoy myself and play the goose every now and then than be the fastest and be a pompous git. My GF will shortly have a ricey mugen sticker on her BLATANTLY bog stock ek civic, and the subject is a source of much hilarity to all who have met the car (its name is Rhonda the Honda!), including the owner. Having a giggle and enjoying the whole thing has been, and will continue to be, WAY better than being jaded and L33Tist about it. Which only ever seems to create grumpiness.
  4. bah! Im tired. I go sleepy now. big day of meetings from 8 till 6 tommoz. need to be sharp-ish?! thanks for cruising today team. had hot time. (want hot action? call 0055-sex-sau) and thanks to ken for showing me how to launch at 5,000 up a hill facing slightly sideways on friday night *mental note: dont look at Ken's car then try and race him*. 6. neo car has tein coilovers with dodgy-install usingone spacer instead of 2 to try and make it lower! when it came in it wsa on 35s and was the lowest skyine Ive ever seen. pimpin only - cause you couldnt turn the wheel past 5. have jacked it up about 5-6 inches to put it through the pits. now seek to arrange a "compromise height".
  7. yeah? so how come I hit XXX+5 and had long-forward-neck and then you belted past about 20 kms faster? I might have taken my foot off at that stage, but not by much! there was one point when we got stuck behind that 4wd and the car with the canoe on top.... I was fuming! but then we went past that multi and Im sure had I not beendoing 55, I would have been doing something horrifically not-55!!
