  1. annoying part is - that it was running consistent 16 psi previous to me removing the spring the first time
  2. nope - checked the intake side from turbo to plenum - holds 1 bar pressure no problems
  3. qik visit back to my brain straining issue. Pulled the wastegate off, checked that it is sealing, checked that it is working with compressed air, all is fine. No diaphram leaks and no leaks on the intake side. Still it will not boost past 0.7 bar. Ive put a 20 psi spring in, tried disconnecting the gate altogether, boost pressure to the bottom of the gate, to the top of the gate to both top and bottom. Makes no sense at all ???? Help
  4. yeah funny enough I was talking to Kyle today about my problem also, he said he had a 60mm hks gate like mine there that had a 3mm gap between the valve and the seat, and it was new. So Ill put some plasticine on the seat and put the gate back on, then pull it apart to see if the valve is actually seating on the seat ( it should have approx 1 mm of preload ). Oh the joy of it all :-)
  5. 0.84 is whats Im using - so Im happy :-)
  6. Paulr33 - Its an external gate - so Ill have to see if its seating on the seat on the manifold, or getting stuck after it opens ?? Thanks Gary - its all starting to make sense now :-) I couldnt find a map for the T04Z so thanks again
  7. yes laggy as all hell Thanks for the confirmation - now to figure out why.
  8. I installed the new wastegate springs in the HKS gate on Sunday. Hooked all back up and went for a drive and it was still only making .7 bar. So I turned off the AVCR, still only .7 bar. Then I plumbed the wastegate up straight to a boost source, so it had nothing to do with the AVCR, still only .7 bar. Getting a little annoyed by this time, so I totally disconnected everything to the gate. Thought I would go for a very cautious drive to see if this gate was working at all. Full revs still only .7 bar, so Im guessing ( havent had a chance to remove it ) that the valve is either not seating on the seat, or its stuck open. There are no leaks in the intake side as I pressure tested it again yesterday. Any thoughts on other reasons for no boost ?
  9. I dont think compression ratio and compression pressure have a direct relationship. As there are many variables that effect compression pressure, ring end gap, bore wear, ring wear, valve to seat seal etc. So you can have two engines with 8.5:1 but both have different compression pressures.
  10. I have some Brand new M/T ET Street Radials in 275/17 $275 each In Brisbane also [email protected]
  11. ER34 RB25DET NEO - Power FC Not concerned if there is no hand controller Email [email protected]
  12. yeah spent 3 hours on the dyno doing that. I dialled both cams in to zero an then we played around on 10 psi until we made the most power. I guess I should wait until I pump some serious boost in and see what happens
  13. I wish it was that easy - as Id just shoot the mother f--ker :-)
  14. dont get me wrong guys - but I keep hearing these big figures from similar engines, some less and I start to wonder if all these dynos are over rated ( or maybe the one I use is way under rated as stated above ). I wouldnt really say this but I have a mate who has a very similar engine to mine but with bigger cams, RB26 head, twin medium size turbos and at 20 psi he is making 420 rwhp on the smae dyno as the one I am using.
  15. I am running the RB25 R34 NEO head - it has smaller combustion chambers than the R33 head. So they are just ACL Forged pistons for the RB30ET.
  16. comp ratio is 8.5:1 had several bolt on probs previously to this run, which I ve recently sorted, bent plenum, fuel pump issues. But fixed all those, new 044 pump etc. No leaks, A/F ratios all good now. I agree cubes, I told Matt that this Friday to boost it until it pings :-) , as the engine will handle near enough what ever we put into it. Ill be running 100 octane and I wont be happy if it doesnt make some serious power. And if it doesnt Im not sure where to look as Ive pretty much sorted every other issue that has come along. Feel free to suggest anything - because at 10 psi I really thought it would be making more power, I guess if I pump 25 psi in on a proper tune it might make what Im looking for....but who knows until Ive done it
  17. let me know when you find out. I have been having drama getting mine to make any real power which I cant understand too be honest. ATM it is making 280 rwhp ( pffff ) on 10 psi - thats on Matt Sprys dyno ( PITS ) which is renowned for being unrated, but even so Im still a little mystified. Maybe when we crank more boost in it will all come good. My engine is this: "SPOOL" R33 FOUR DOOR RB30DET RB30 Block - bored 40thou, decked and oring'd, ACL Forged pistons ARP Head studs and mains studs Nitrided crank SPOOL H Beam conrods ACL race series bearings Jun oil pump - crank snout modified to suit R34 NEO head - HKS 272 / 9.35 cams, Performance Valve Springs, ported and polished by JHH performance Garrett T04Z turbo 0.96 ex housing Sard 850cc injectors 6 Boost manifold - HKS 60mm wastegate CPC plenum - VH45 90mm throttle body ATI Harmonic Balancer OS Giken Twin Plate Clutch
  18. ummm I had similar probs on Wed. Got a 60mm HKS gate and before the dyno I replaced the 18 psi spring with a 8 psi spring. Now it is too soft and opening to soon even with the avcr. So goes back next Friday after I put the old spring back in on the weekend. r33 racer - what boost are you running to achieve the 290rwkw ?
  19. Yeah need a big pipe line from the north down to Bris. Pistons and rods are on the way :-) up to Aust post now.
  20. good to see you are moving up to god's country - if you could tow a few rain clouds behind the Skyline on the way it would be appreciated :-)
  21. I made 300rwkw at 23psi with my Q45 with my old RB25 My new engine ( RB25.30 , T04Z etc ) gets dynoed tomorrow and its also using Q45 - Ill let you know how it goes.
  22. I have experienced this same thing, went from 15 degrees base timing to 0 degrees, which could have been disasterious if it had of went the other way. Are you using the std cam gear cover or is it removed ?
  23. I am using two 0.75mm ( 30 thou ) restrictors on my RB30 with RB25 NEO head ( solid lifters ). I have done approx 20 power runs on a dyno to 8000rpm and there isnt a drop of oil in my catch can - let alone all the street floggings its got. I also have a mate running a RB30 with RB26 head who is making 490 rwhp who is using the same size restrictors and has been driving his car for at least 6 months now and has no oil problems, his rev limiter is set at 8200. Both are street cars, not circuit or drag. We modified the oil drain back holes with some die grinding, just to open them up a bit for increased flow and apart from the oil restrictors there are no other modifications. He is running a std RB26 pump where as mine is running a JUN pump.
