towel rack? stagea speak for...?? do you guys have an issues with the polycarbonate headlights yellowing and becoming cloudy? similar to R33's....>?
-
sounds like you've got a great combo there. bayside blue AND prime edition. this is the bayside blue one i've been in discussions over: http://www.ironchefimports.com/site/index....2&Itemid=38 just not sold on the kit, maybe it's the rims fitted - but the kit just looks overwhelming, and very low and impractical....it is in 4B condition though, and Kristian tells me it belong to a member of the Tokyo Stagea Owner's Club!
-
yep, i've decided i want an S2 pearl white. that's what i'm after, so keep the info coming! how hard are those roof rack delete kits to come by?
-
i think because he's coming from the illest/fatlace/stanceworks background, where that sort of wheel/fender gap does not fly! and they would have told you that kumho's do not stretch well..... that being said, lovely car, and i love the N/A grill - looks class.
-
thanks justin, i just might take you up on your offer - if nothing else, it will be good to have a good chin way with a genuine enthusiast - that's the best way to get up to speed for sure! i'm flat out this weekend but maybe we can tee something up for the following. i have found a bayside blue one that is very tempting. it's a bit exxy, but i'm wondering if the colour would ultimately protect the resale value. it does have a dolphin kit on it though, which i'm not a real fan of because its just so low and you can't have the car at reasonable height without leaving heaps of daylight under the wheel arches. if it's not bayside blue, it's white. thoughts on that? bayside blue or pearl white!!!?
-
Thanks for that. I would prefer to get an auto in terms of usability, but i'm blown away by the amount of power loss through the drivetrain - so if i were to go 5speed, it would be for that reason only. and what's the general consensus on 2WD v AWD? from my reading, AWD weighs about 100kg more, and obviously the weight and extra rotational mass hurt fuel consumption - so they're disadvantages. and i guess also, it's one more set of CV and a diff that can fail, but what else? would people with AWD's preferred to have gone 2WD if they could? should i hang out for a 2WD manual? or is it not worth the wait. i dont drift, or do burnouts EVER - so that isn't a factor. it's more about driveability, useability of the power, fuel consumption and potential mechanical issues. Another question, is it fact or myth that you must have a black wired alarm installed to get insurance on these??
-
sorry rodney, i'm after an S2 only. i actually prefer the look of the S1 front end, but i want the neo motor and tiptronic. think peal white is the way to go. and how rare are the driving lights in the Dayz front bar?
-
thanks guys, i appreciate those who have PM'd me with info and offers. this is definitely a WTB thread effectively, so if you're considering selling then please get in touch. i'm looking to spend around the 15k mark, preferably with RWC and rego - so if you're car falls around that figure then please get in touch. i'm also becoming more partial to the pearl white colour. reality check reminded me how much of a hellish time i have keeping my LS400 clean (it dark navy blue), and how much trouble and care i have to undertake to keep swirls out of the paint so i think white would be a nice change! has anyone got any feedback on the 32 GT-R style interior that i seem to see on a lot of the 5sp manuals? comfort wise?
-
hmm, not my cup of tea. i've also got a 14k price limit. want it on the road and insured for as close to 15k as possible. i'd rather get a nice S2 than a cheap M35. the thing that attracts me heavily to it is the heavy aftermarket support, and i think the strength still lies with the C34 range.
-
nobody have any leads? nobody selling? i've got a guy bringing a 2000 S2 in black with dual roofs, AWD, Xenon and Auto trans out to my work on thursday for a look. But it's the pov looking velour interior. and there is a black 5 Spd S2 w/ roofs in sydney that has what looks like the 32 GT-R interior - i've sat in 32 GT-R seats before and they're not that comfy.....is this version of the stagea interior the same deal? things to look for: from the buyers guide, i've picked up that i need to watch for rust under the wing mirrors, around the sunroof, and around the strut towers. surely there are other common issues? like mechanical etc?

Hey guys, As of today, I have taken a deposit on my LS400 and am in the market for a new car. Having had a turbo skyline before, I then went the VIP route with the LS400 which was awesome, but a hard car to live with in the city (60mm clearance, 19s, V8 fuel consumption). My choices are along the lines of a Legnum, Chaser, or a Stagea. I have always loved Stageas and been intrigued by their unusual look and rarity. So after a few days of research, I have come to the conclusion that I am keen to get my hands on one and do some light modding whilst retaining functionality. So I’m putting the call out to the community to help me find one. I always scour carsales etc regularly, so I’ve seen them come and go over the past few years, but now that it has come the time for me to buy – I can’t find one that is perfect for me. given that I will need to make a purchase fairly soon, I can’t afford to wait to import one. So if you guys can help me find one, I’d be hugely appreciative! My wish list is: Colour – Pearl White/ Bayside Blue (!)/ Pearl Black (love the colour, hate a dirty car), Series II under 100,000kms Leather Dual Sunroof Xenon Headlamps prefer RWD but AWD will be ok and auto is fine. So if you know of any that match this criteria, please post the link or let me know where the car is! Cheers, Mat

SMOKEYV35 replied to SMOKEYV35's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
thanks, i think! car owes 17k, and i've had it less than a year. stockers are going for avg 10k, so i think it's reasonable for such a clean example with well thought out mods. also just arrived, bellezza neck pillows. as you can see, the car is still getting a lot of love! -
Vic - Ucf10 Lexus Ls400 Vip - 12k Or Swap Stagea
SMOKEYV35 replied to SMOKEYV35's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
This is a iPhone pic of the 19's. They will sit flush with the gaurds once the lips are rolled and the car is lowered and they camber in. fitting the coilovers is literally the last thing you need for this to qualify as 100% VIP. Only reason i haven't fitted them yet is to make RWC a breeze. as mentioned, wheels and coilovers are extra if you want them and are interested in outright buying. price will be +2k for the rims and +1k for the coils, so 14k all up. Swaps would be to a car of equal value, but only interested in the models listed (stagea, aristo, legnum and mayyybe a 34 4-door -

can't seem to edit my own post. car has 19's fitted with new tyres, looks fantastic. thinking i will keep it now, i'm in love with it all over again........but if you're serious i will listen to swaps (on the cars i've listed) or offers. price will go up 2k if you want the 19s. and pls, no timewasters - i'm not really interested in showing the car to people who just want to 'have a look'. -
hey guys. was trying to sell my car to upgrade to a later model ls400 but the one i wanted has sold. so i'm a bit confused as to what i want to do. would prefer a cash sale but have always wanted a stagea, so keen to see if there are any swaps out there. but i'm fussy, so it would have to be clean and looking at MY99+ up. looking to swap as is, but if it helps, i have a set of 19's (pictured) and brand new coilovers in the box. CAR: UCF10 LEXUS LS400 YEAR: 11/1993 KMs: 225,000 approx PRICE: 11k ONO or SWAPS (stagea, aristo, legnum) Contact: Via PM heaps more pics. interior shots to come. Hey VIP guys n gals, i know you all have your own cars already but i'm just putting this out there incase you know anyone in the market. pls ignore the lengthy description - this is more for the carsales.com ad Up for offer is my late-month 1993 LS400. I am the 3rd owner, and have owned it for around 10 months. It is my first Lexus, and the only reason I am selling is because I want to upgrade to a newer model LS400. They are such fantastic cars, and I am so impressed that I will be loyal to the brand for ever as result. (Please remember that this is an Oz delivered model, sold from Melbourne City Lexus with all books and sales receipts – not a grey import Toyota Celsior ). I’m a self confessed perfectionist and I searched far and wide for an immaculate example, and have spent many thousands of dollars bringing the vehicle to an even higher standard and updating it to current equipment levels. I wasted far too much time looking at claimed ‘good’ examples, only to find rust, oil-leaks and covered in scuff marks. This is an honest sale, and will suit only a buyer who can appreciate the finer details. There is no such thing as a ‘cheap’ prestige car – pay market value or pay the price at the mechanic! PROS: - Paintwork is in unbelievable condition for age, very hard to fault, and looks so deep you could dive into it. No carpark dents to speak of, it is straight as a gun barrel. - Leather interior is perfect - not cracked or worn, and is leather-conditioned every 6 weeks without fail. - All electrics work 100% which is very important in a car with this level of features. Does not suffer from the common problems of climate control LCD fade, or flickering dash needles – all as new. Electric seats work 10/10. - Car is very tight and does not rattle or shake over bumps, it is quiet as a tomb (when released, this car was the quietest in the world, with a lower NVH level than even a Rolls Royce at 100km/h). Can rest a 50c piece on the top of the running motor, and I’m happy to demonstrate this! - Smooth but rapid, for such a big car, V8 power means this thing can really move if provoked. 0-100 in under 9 seconds, but most impressive when overtaking. - That being said, amazingly economical – consistently returns 9-10L/100km on the freeway sitting at 2000rpm at 100km/h. 750km’s to a tank of premium. - Engine has oil change every 5k and oil filter every 10k. - Recently had a coolant flush - Transmission has just had a full flush and service, incl both solenoids replaced. Used to feel lazy, now feels very strong and smooth. - Tyres 80%. Correct factory fitted Lexus specified Z-rated Dunlops fitted at a cost of over $1200. - Full valet pack/service kit and all Lexus stamped tools intact. Concourse condition! - Car had every option box ticked from new, including sunroof, headlight washers, and car-phone (doesn’t work anymore due to analog service, so I deleted the aerial but it’s a nice party trick!) - Have new car sales receipt for $109,000 from Melb City Lexus…. back in 1994!! Modifications All modifications have been done to improve the car, not damage it, and all are 100% reversible with all stock parts retained. - Twin stainless steel mufflers, imported from Japan. Does not change the exhaust volume, but they look great and I polish them regularly. Stock Mufflers included. - 2 1/4 inch exhaust. true dual. sounds mean, great rumble but silent at cruise. - K&N performance air filter. Drop in replacement for stock. Imported from USA. - 7” touchscreen multimedia unit with Sat Nav/CD/DVD/iPod-iPhone touch control/Bluetooth handsfree/and Digital TV. Installed professionally using a wiring harness adapter ($400 ex Japan) so no wires were cut, and stock amplifier and subwoofer are retained. Factory unit available using 6-stacker in boot. - Reversing camera. Colour with Infra-red capabilities – so is very clear, even at night. Displays automatically on the 7” monitor when reverse is engaged. - Dark window tint. 20% sides, 5% rear – I did this to help protect the leather in summer. But also looks great. - HID Xenon 6000k lo-beam headlights. Excellent output over the stock halogens. - LED driving lights, corner lights, number plate lights, and all interior lights replaced with pure white LED’s for a very modern look, increased globe life, and much lower power consumption. - Clear front indicators and side repeaters with LED’s installed. - Billet front grill. Very rare and hard to find part, worth over $500 landed ex Japan. Stock grill can be fitted if preferred. - AU Falcon electric thermo fans with automated digital controller. (the power hungry clutch fan was seizing and hurting fuel consumption, so I spent over $500 doing this conversion. Looks stock, but much quieter and no more strain on the engine, car runs a lot cooler now. Also great for fuel economy.) - Repairs that I have taken care of in my time include the transmission – replaced solenoids and full flush and fill with Toyota Type IV fluid ($$$). Comes with 12 month warranty. Power steering pump refurbished and resealed (common problem). Clutch fan seized, replaced it with the AU thermos. Fuel filter replaced, shocking messy job. CONS: To save both you and I time, here are the couple of bad points. - To the avg observer, it would seem the car has high km’s. Don’t let this put you off. I use it to drive from Geelong to Altona on the freeway each day, so covers roughly 500km a week. But the car is well maintained, has a strong service history with books available, and these motors have been known to do over 500,000km without a single service! If I didn’t tell you the km’s, you would never guess from looking at it. Even the common signs such as leather wear and tear are nonexistent. Car pulls strongly, no clunks from suspension, and no rattles from interior. It is rock solid and will go for another 200,000 I have no doubts. Don’t compare km’s to those on the grey import Celsiors on the market - often these have questionable readings, and Japan is notorious for poor maintenance due to high labor cost. - Vehicle should have a timing belt replaced soon (before 250k). Water pump needs to be done at the same time, and have been quoted $600 from Toyota for the job. But it is a non-interference motor, so the risk of not doing this is nil. If the car doesn’t sell in the next few months, I’ll be taking care of this anyway. This is prestige motoring with Toyota priced parts and servicing remember! No scary german-car sized repair bills! And that is literally all. As I said, only selling as I want to upgrade to a newer UC20 or UCF30 LS430 – I love these cars so much I can’t see myself in anything else. But if it doesn’t sell, I’m more than happy to keep maintaining it and working on it – there is no hurry! So please, no timewasters. Car can be viewed in Geelong on weekends or in Altona during the week. EDIT: OPEN TO SWAPS.

unless you absoloutely had to i wouldnt do it. GT'R is about the last car i'd want to take up to the snow. heavy on fuel, bugger all room for bags, bugger all room for people inside without it turning into a fogged up sauna, and i can only imagine it would wreak havoc on the attessa system - wouldnt know what was going on!

literature i have read is that they have been fine tuning this thing on the nurburgring and early tests are showing that it will go under the GT-Rs best time. so for those who are saying it wont'/cant handle - be prepared to eat your own words. even the Z06 was a mean piece of kit. watch the top gear vid and listen to clarkson rave about its track ability.

Vic - R31 Skyline (5spd + Turbo) Price Drop
SMOKEYV35 replied to SMOKEYV35's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
righto, i'm not here to bollocks spiders. this car needs to sell. i am dropping the price significantly. have had an interested party at the original price but he is taking his sweet arse time closing the sale, so its open to buyers interested at 11k firm. i would rather throw a match on it than see it parted out to a bare shell, but i can't afford to be emotional about this anymore. the car has to go, either as a whole, or in the sum of its parts. i have had this figure in my head from the start, and if it doesnt move at this price over the next 2 months - the car will be parted out down to a bare shell. at 11k i am losing over 14k on this build, which absoloutely bleeds me. any price lower than this, i will make more off the parts alone. this revised price is as low as i'm willing to go, so low ball me and expect a rude response. DO NOT EXPRESS INTEREST ON PARTS . i am not willing to talk to anyone about parts in any way shape or form at this stage. i strictly want to hear from people who are interested in the entire car only. SO 11k as is 10k without rims, Ti rims fitted 9.5k without R34 brakes, HR31 calipers and rotors fitted.
