  1. Why do you want to take the BOV off for? they are put on from the factory for a reason. Turbo cars become real jerky to drive with them removed and you can also damage your turbo. They are there to vent some of the compressed air off
  2. I used Royal Purple Synthetic with some Slick 50. I was happy with it. Changed to Kendall Synthetic and Slick 50. Unbelievable inprovement. I have 156,000km's on car . I was abit worried about synchro's till the change to Kendall.Couldn't recommend Kendall highly enough
  3. CRC has a CO contact cleaner. Probably use the one for electrical systems. Dick Smith , Tandy etc,
  4. Bazz. The hot wire tells the ecu how much air is flowing through the metering system. If you take the pod off [there is probably a mesh cover in there]and look down the induction tube you will see a brass spigot with a large slot cut in it. This brass spigot comes through the side of the tube and a six or seven pin plug goes off into the wiring loom. The way hotwires work is there is a current ,known to the ecu through the small resistance wire. As more air flows over the hotwire it cools therefore to keep the known resistance more power is sent to the hotwire. This is how your ecu knows how much air is flowing through the motor, so therefore the ecu changes the fuelling[pulsewidth and duration] to suit. The lambda sensor does a similar job in the exhaust.
  5. Try cleaning the hot wire in the inlet just down from your pod. The oil that you put on the pod[ K&N or my Unifilter] coats the hotwire and insulates it so the ecu thinks it needs to pour the fuel in.I use CO contact cleaner and gently use a cotton bud to do it.
  6. My turbosmart and the one I got of Mark dropped off. I have read the discussion on this and have blocked off the tubes that run to the factory solenoid. This will fix the boost dropping back to 10 psi
  7. I still haven't heard from him yet, although I didn't any money.
  8. No reply as yet. Emailed the right address. I sent one on the 29/08 and one on the 1/09. also thought he might read the forum and get in touch that way. Ah well i will try again next week
  9. Just having difficulties getting him. I have emailed a number of times and no reply. He may be on holidays or busy. No I have sent any money . It seems everybody is very happy with the controller
  10. Hey whitesti have you heard back from Mark?
  11. When my water pump started leaking ,I replaced it with a GTR pump[ may be a N1 not sure] . This brought my temp gauge from sitting about 1/2 way to somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2. Sits there all the time. summer and winter. Also the air con fan starting with the air con keeps things cooler. Only touble is it takes along time down the snow to warm up
  12. My thermal fan for the air con never came on. When I had it regassed the guy said if the fan was working the system would be cooler and he could get more in. Stuffed around with the relays and have the fan now coming on with the air con. He got more gas into it.
  13. I sent an email the other day [29th aug] to Mark about to purchasing a boost controller, I haven't heard back as yet. My controller [ turbo smart]spikes up to 15psi then drops back to 10psi. Seems like everybody is happy with these ones from Mark
  14. Justjap at Kirrawee
  15. I have a R33 4door which I love. 5 speed manual, crossflow trust intercooler so the engine bay looks standard and mines ecu , dump pipe off turbo ,uprated sway bars and raised boost. I picked up some secondhand Bilsteins and used them for about a year . They are great. Just had the front ones rebuilt at Heasmens for $276.00 a pair. Going to have the rear ones done soon. Bilstein's being rising rate are nice and compliant when cruising but stiffen right up when you start pushing them
  16. Be VERY careful with Toluene. It's used as a solvent.Nulon says 8 points , but actually it adds point 8. eg 98RON plus nulon =98.8 if you are lucky. Different refiners increase octane using different processes. They are all pretty good although some like Optimax , other say it has caused trouble. Working for Caltex and making the stuff ,I tend to use Vortex 98 and 95 if no 98 around
  17. Go all the way and make it an AUTECH copy. RB26DETT and 6 speed box. Talking to the guys at Just Jap yesterday . I think they are going to offer a manual conversion option on the stageas they sell
  18. Hey Muck. It's cheaper than normal due to the addition of ethenol. Since they add 10% to the the mix they aren't paying the taxes that normal petrol gets hit with .RON is a number given for a fuel"s resistance to knocking. Higher the RON the less chance it has of detonating. AV gas is high octane[105-120 ish], though pistol engined planes are very low compression and slow reving. Obviously you don't want a plane engine to knock while you are flying
