  1. I guess that as this started as an australian fuel thread , australian RON was main thread ,until level ride, came in with north american octane. since they use AKI as their basis of their octane figure . Still mixing the lower and the higher octane together you will get an improvement on the lower one. 50/50 would give a very close to mid range of the difference. Yes their ECU would be retuned for the differing fuel specs over here, though there isn't a great number of american cars coming this way compared to cars from SE Asia who use a rating the same of very close to ours. But back to australian octane per the thread, on our cars with closed loop systems with knock sensors you will get more power from the higher RON and noticable at that. so use the highest RON you can afford. Interestingly , the sales of 95 ron are up due to govt mandating E 10 with the phasing out of 91. I hope I have a passing knowledge of Australian fuels and manufacture as I have been making it for long enough.
  2. We do actually use a RON and MON in Australia. It's just in the oil industry we use RON for simplicity. Before our 98 RON was released ,years of blending and dyno work was done to get the MON up to a high level. As you know MON is more of a driveabilty scale than RON. Research Octane Number is a comparison of the Platformate or Reformate [or what process is used in Catalytic Reforming to in crease the octane of the HSR ]to N-Heptene scale. The reformate or platformate leaves the units and goes to a Ben sat unit to remove the benzene down to levels mandated by govts. Heavy runs to tankage at around 102-105 RON and the lights go a reactor for conversion of the benzene. All these streams and other rundowns go to the blend tank for testing of RON and MON before release to the public. I can't go into specifics as the blending is proprietory knowledge. Obviously in Queensland all or nearly all your gaso comes from Caltex Lytton or BP Bulwar . A small amount may be imported .or in times of shortage or production problems from Caltex Kurnell or Shell Clyde. Though you may get some from India or SE Asia.
  3. Sorry Mad RON is RON in whatever country you are in. We used to test RON with a variable compression motor, now it is an IR reading and other hi tech stuff. Mixing 92 and 110 will give about a 100-101 RON so it's ok but levelride I though your fuel would have been cheap enough .
  4. No. I grew up on Oatley Bay and had friends round Connells Point and Kyle Bay. Haven't heard bout the N1 yet ,but Knowing my guys it will be pretty close to landing
  5. Gee Kyle Bay. There is a blast from the past!!!!.
  6. Shit, Good pickup Kristian. Should be here soon , will send some piccies. RBNT V spec and V spec 2, are not allowed to breed.ha

  8. that is a lot of miles and a beating as well.
  9. Gotcha now. I headed back up the threads, Forgot there would be rotary people on the forum. They don't trust their oil injection .
  10. Mad082, you are joking about the 2 stroke oil aren't you, people don't really think or do that?
  11. Why put 2 stroke oil in your fuel???? The retail price is now pretty much set by Coles and Woolies since Shell and Caltex sold most of their stations. All fuel from the name brands has an octane rating +/- .5 RON. that is govt mandated. Shell in Sydney shut down their refinery at Clyde after spending more than 100million on repairs then broke it on start up. They promised govts they could import all the fuel. Mainly source from SE Asia and India. They had to start up again as they couldn't import enough. I am surprised people are using less than 95/98 RON fuel in their car. Since the E10 was introduced the sales of our 95 RON has jumped 50%. Bad quality fuel is 99% time a problem at the servo. Before a tank is released from the refinery it is tested for RON, DVPE and other quality checks
  12. Aerodynamically very untidy. Acts as an air brake or spoiler into the corner but when you need some angle of attack for downforce in the corner especially a high speed corner it starts to flatten out and the car loses down force , hence the skittish rear end , , though of course the big horse power is to blame as well. Many years ago in the late 60 / 70 when movable aero devices were still allowed in F1 ferrari did the same thing. The wing was operated by engine oil pressure . going fast , high oil pressure, flat wing, into corners revs drop angle of attack increases giving more downforce but since you are moving on the throttle all the time balancing the car the down force changing constantly in the corner making the car unbalanced. hope you get it to work cause it looks great

  14. 45 I think, Iron Chef knows more. 12 went to NISMO. 33 let out of captivity
  15. Hey l180sxl. Mate I got a v spec N1[ 2000] 29000kms, one owner and log books . and hopefully it should be here soon. she is beautiful. Just like specs and details on things . we were top bidders on a number of cars , M spec, N1's and others, but below reserve
  16. Hey Kristian. Any web sites you can recommend for info and specs on N1's /Nur's
  17. Heasmans in sydney are I think the australian distributors. i have had my Bilsteins on my r33 Gts-t rebuilt by them over the years. Contact them , they should be able to help you with part numbers , etc
  18. Had a Brant fitted to my R33 GTS-t and it worked perfectly when an attempt was made after I sold the car to my son. It was a 3 point immobilser. They got in and ripped the key barrel out , wouldn't start, Very happy with the after sales as well one of the remotes wouldn't work, took it over and fixed it and checked the other one. No charge . Will be fitting one of their 5 point and internal screamer when my R34 gtr turns up. don't want it stolen
  19. DuFFR32, that is not entirely correct. The higher the octane[ RON] the less chance of knocking and pinging. RON is the fuels ability to resist knocking not volitility . Higher RON lets the ecu feed in more timing for more power until the knock sensor hears the knock or approach and reduces the timing back to safe levels.
  20. Nur have the N1 engine with better cams and the colour and all the good stuff. Just posted on another thread. Wikipedia has a summary which should be close
  21. If you wikipedia R34 gtr it goes through the variants and what the differences are, Nur has the N1 motor with different cams and a few other mods plus paint and some goodies. The M spec is a more a softy with "ripple control suspension" .
