I like this thread, It has taught me something new...I honestly thought the cars I'd seen with stretched tyres on huge rims irl were that way because they couldnt afford the right size or find the correct fitment for the rim or were just making do with what they had ect. Kinda made me feel sorry for them. No shit I did! If thats the image/look you're after goodluck to you, no harm in that. Myself I hate subs/bodykits or any bling that adds weight to the car without giving more than it's weight in returned Kw's, I'd never put looks over performance or safety, Clean straight and light..but thats my thing. Big ups to funkymonkey for finding a new way to use the word stigma, I never knew a stigma could be something to aspire to.

The R32 was revolutionary for Nissan and cars in general, it set so many benchmarks of the day in so many classes and at a budget price. The r35 is the latest in this lines evolution...The basic format is the same just almost 20yrs difference in engineering. So I'd say the 32 was a massive leap and the 35 is just the latest evolution of that leap. The r32 really shocked old and young motor heads alike..I remember in my 20's thinking if only I had 120k i'd get me one of them thar scuderas after one blew by me in my 351c powered xt.

Dunno about that, demister runs with the a/c.. cool air on the inside of the screen = demist...warm air = foggy. Basically it is done by matching the internal screen temp with the outside screen temp. So a demister can either be forced a/c or fresh outside air and should not make the car unroadworthy by bypassing the heater core. Nothing to say your car must be warm and cosy for a roadworthy, just need a working demister, which unless he has removed the fan he'll still have.

Yeah as I said Bob if it is a bogus defect and you are being harrassed there are things you can do about. Basically the officer is abusing his power and if you follow through it'll cost him alot more than you... If it's the same officer I'd try a restraining order...get him locked up next time he pulls you over I did cover all that in the first post. Sure there are dicks in every job..but atleast if a cops being one you can hold him to task for his abuse of power as a popo off.

Import Duties On Goods

See if they'll accept a deposit from you on one invoice.. then ask that only the balance amount be put on the final/shipping invoice. -
Sorry fella but how is the knowing your car has defects and then applying the law make him a dick? He's a dick because he did it to you? They can not just defect you for anything they like...they do defect you for obvious emission violations, illegal mods and unroadworthy items. If you find yourself getting defected multiple times & the car passes without changing a single item, then yeah you're most probably being harassed and should complain accordingly...starting with the station commander and working your way up. You could also sue for the inconvenience caused by your lack of transport and public humiliation/trauma ect. Also if you are being rude to a public servant I reckon you deserve a slap, it'd be a thankless and shitty job I think and I'm glad that there are peeps brave enough out there to do it. Being rude or even stand offish to them just re-enforces the obvious stereotype you most probably feel percecuted for in the first place. A little further down lifes road you'll hopefully see all of this for the idiotic crap it really is. Try and remember there is no us and them...only us

Anyone who sells truck tyres will stock longer bent valves, they'll probably have some nice shiny chrome ones for the those crazy show n shine truckers out there.

When Will Japan Run Out Of Skylines?

When they do, do you think we will be able to send some back and make a tidy profit. The law of supply and demand ect.. -
They are very nice pics.. Congrats to the happy couple, always nice to hear good people starting out on their lifes journey together, all the best. I am extremely amused by the wedding photo's to car photo's ratio though Atleast you did give the bridal party top billing.. I guess

Yeah sounds like the heater cores gone alright, Ive had a few go on me over the years the puddle will get bigger as the core gets worse.. Should stink like warm coolant, replace core or disconnect and plug hoses as a temporary measure.

Rb25det Strange Hesitation On Take Off
madbung replied to genkin's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Throw some injector cleaner through it, use the nissan stuff. Failing that remove and inspect injectors. -
Simple stuff I know but.. Any mechanical drag issues..uni's ect? Was it a very hot day?

In short ...THE FILTER 2 spell it out... Your induction pipe runs into the airbox lid... the lid holds the filter in place @ the top of the air box. So to answer the question if I drill holes or cut slots into the front right hand corner of the lid (not the top its 2 visible) the air filter catches the dust or whatever tha same as it alway does. This just increases flow and reduces cavitation for 0 cost. If you want it easily reversable go and get some rubber bungs/grommets from super cheap or similar then drill holes 2 suit the bungs instead of slots in the airbox lid. don't like it..........plug holes with bungs and your back 2 stock. DO NOT MAKE HOLES IN YOUR AIRBOX!!!! just the front r/h/s corner of the lid (furthest from the engine) less heat there Just to crarify again the holes/slots are to be made on the r/h/s corner down the side of the AIR BOX LID It's a very simple mod, the ones I like the best. Delljits on the money...basically the same setup, just it's free to do. you still have the nice cold air from the induction pipe but you also get added volume by doing this...and the airs still pretty cool @ the front corner off the engine bay.
-
An interesting and sensible topic...I have another option for you, fit a cotton panel filter as suggested by other posters, they're really very good. Then take the top off of your airbox and make some discreet slots or holes in the sides that face forward and towards the innerguard, do it on those sides only...rear and engine side will suck in too much hot air. Cutting the slots right on the corner is easiest a hand saw would do the job. Do a neat job and it will never be picked. Less heat soak than a pod and it will give you increased flow and maybe even that induction sound you yearn. DO NOT MAKE HOLE BELOW THE FILTER>>>DO THE LID ONLY it's also easy to change back if things aren't running as well as you'd like. I have been doing this on gtst's for a while and have had np's performance wise unlike pods in hot weather. Rick

Sorry shouts of entrapment are just plain wrong. vicpol didn't sell or fit any modified parts, they also didn't suggest or encourage that it be done. They didn't make johnnos commy have bald tyres or cause any other rwc issues....So they didn't invite the people that they also didn't sell/fit/encourage to modify the vehicles of to the event that they didn't organise. Yep that surely sounds a lot unlike entrapment to me. coralling or hearding maybe They did go to a place where they new a large number of offenders may be found instead of driving around aimlessly pulling over randoms or setting up on a highway? YES.. Geez seems like a logical use of resources for a good result when you look at in that light hey. Stop pointing blame and calling shenaniggans

I'm confused how they're trying to do the right thing by keeping it of the street? they're being defected for not "keeping it off the street" if the car wasn't on the street it wouldn't have been defected nor would it be defected if it wasn't modified for the track and on the street. I realise you mean keeping it off the streets as in the driving events but doing the right thing? I dunno. Is it because your intent to do good in one way should negate the intent not to follow the regulations with the other. I still don't know. I'd also suggest the reasoning behind harsher penalties might have something to do with the old ones being almost non enforceable..pay the fine and laugh do it all over again. Too many people have been bending breaking the rules and getting away with it for too long. Now we all pay for the actions of a minority..Sucks but it's the way of the times. Anyway it's ok to disagree.. we all know the rules, it's up to the individual whether he/she plays by them. Doesn't make you a satanist just poorer every time you get caught.

Geez that is harsh, I do feel sorry for todays P platers. But I am zero tolerance on Terrorism ect....I wouldnt want to see the result of negotiating with plane hijackers ect. You can't give em an inch, if that kind of action is seen as sucessful in bringing change where does it end. But on subject I gotta agree..I think the law makers of this land have gone nuts. Go back 30 yrs and I bet more than a few of these hypocrits where throwing laps in their GT's or Monaros.

Thats some pretty random miss guided stuff there fella... if you believe it more power to ya.. If anyone has been defected for coil overs its the way they've been setup or they are leaking not the item itself. Lsd being booked for having a locker? go to court thats a false charge/penalty.. As you state most of the stuff can be done legally if you follow the guidelines epa-engineering..The obstruction of visibility law has been around longer than I've been driving so have most of the emmision regulations. Do you have a point?
-
Common sense, solid engineering and playing by the rules.......you could almost live your entire life to those simple guidelines The engineering can be bought if you can't do it yourself, the rules are there for all to see...the hardest part to attain is also the most valuable..................... common sense. Think of it as a challenge...like say building a race car within group whatever parameters. It's not a free for all where anything goes, see what can be achieved within the legal limitations that are prescribed, embrace an anti-bling fnf philosophy...you'd be suprised what can be acheived. If you want a mobile cinema with 12 dvd screens, huge sound, dumped on 20's ect ect plus performance you'll be so far behind in the power-weight stakes you may as well park it in your lounge room as use it for what it's been modified for...entertaining not driving.
-
Now this is just a guess........... But I think they may have a problem with all of the above just like society in general has a problem with all of the above.... Thats why it's generalized as " anti social behavour" Driving an illegally modified car to an advertised event such as this what do you expect? Illegal is illegal...wrong is wrong and stupid is stupid. There was no entrapment or abuse of powers. If you've been harrassed and given defects that don't exist fight it. I don't mind lifting my bonnet or boot (notice no hood or trunk) unless i'm running late becuase i've no legal issues to hide. I've been driving heavily modified cars for 20yrs most of that as daily drivers and have never copped a defect or had my cars towed...strange?? not really.
-
Seriously I dun no wats wrong with you... How did the police pounce on people with the right attitude trying to do the right thing...The cars got done for defects and or illegal modifications. Doesn't really say I've got the right attitude to me, It says either the car was not roadworthy or it is environmentally a no no. I don't see of any abuse of power here or stories to that effect. If your car was legal you could do all these fun drag tag type of crap without the hassle or alternatively hand in your plates build a drag specific car buy a 4wd and trailer. It's the normal way people seriously involved in the sport go about it. Can't afford to do that...then either accept the penalties like a man or find a more suitable hobby. But I guess some fellas just can't get that Hollywood street racer image out of their heads..20yrs back the police would turn a blind eye to a lot of things. Major difference is we'd go out of town to quiet areas for our fun, today it seems suburban streets and carparks are an acceptable risk. But seriously I really don't know how you can't grasp how puerile your stance is.
-
Just to clarify something If your car is illegally modified and currently registered the police can defect you whether the car is on a trailer, in a car park, your driveway or parked up a tree. Secondly It is possible to build a very fast modified street car that does not break the law. Most of your problems stem from hectic fnf type crap that won't generally improve performance like...atmos blow of valves, ride height and other Hollywood style performance mods. If you come at it from a performance angle and don't go for the neon type bells and whistles you'll be surprised by the results....a better performing fully legal street car. It's not difficult. I'm fairly old school when it comes to modifying cars for performance. First I look @ the cars weight then secondly I chase HP..Alot of the younger guys out there seem intent on adding as much weight as possible through body kits, Faux leather, big sound systems ect and then try and make it up with big HP..All you end up with is the equivalent of a huge mobile sign that drives like crap and screams look at me my car is illegal and I want to give Vic Pol money. It's fun to blame others for your own errors. If the cops had been kicking in taillights then writing out ticket ala Porky's yeah that's an abuse of power, persecution...whatever but laying the blame @ the feet of the police for doing their job? Far too much "us and them" mentality goes on around here, almost every thread of complaint or unjust treatment on here is crap. If your breaking the law your getting what you deserve.. You can still have fun playing by the rules and it's a shit load less stressful/expensive in the long run. Raps some skulls.....think about it!
