  1. Sounds like Martin is voluteering to find you some tyres Matty. :burnout:
  2. The power fc pro has launch control.
  3. Dean: I found that boost drop on the standard turbo was caused by a combination of reduced ignition timing up top (which reduced combustion pressure and exhaust flow) and the turbo being unable to flow any more air because of high back pressure and cylinder back filling at high rpm. The Vg30 exhuast housing with no other mods on the Rb25 turbo held 15psi to redline. I actually locked my wastegate closed and my RB25 turd and it still still didn't hold boost.... hope that helps
  4. Nice work cell I was travelling back with a car load of pizza's for the boys and passed a "kunstable" in his fancy XR8 cop cars as they are here, and sure enough he pulled a ubolt. I pulled over after crappin myself as I do in Adelaide, hiding the power fc hanset under the seat, closing the engine altering electronic gaget filled glove box and winding down my jet black windows only to be greetted by "Very Nice Car Mate". I didn't have any of my already lined up excuses that I could reply with so I just stood there like a dork with a puzzeled look on my face.... The "Kunstable" walked to the front of my car and said " Oh you do have a number plate" (as it is set to one side)and proceeded to tell me how some idiots put lines through theirs to obstruct the letters. He then left wishing me a good day. I got back in the car wondering how he didn't notice my number plate was home made from perspex and I had no front indicators at all... I don't know if the cops in NSW are all like that ,but to date I am not one to complain.....mind you 58 cars were defected down Homebush and 3 impounded the other night for street racing. I think I will have to find a friend with a stocka a go check it out. I am all for the "if you aint doing anything wrong then be left alone" attitude. Does seem to be the norm here.
  5. Steve: I see what you are saying, the unmeasured air being bypassed will increase and decrease with air temp and there for will reduce the ability to fine tune... to a degree. Maybe a VR4 has a air temp sensor aswell as the MAF sensor which would compenstate for the bypassed air..... hmmn all very interesting. I think idle might suffer aswell as the amount of air is so small and slight variations will be even slighter and cause hunting. dean: the problem with the stock a/f meter is once it has passed 5.1v you are only able to tune for one boost level. Air temp also causes mixtures to change uncontrolably aswell. So basically you can't fine tune with any stable mixtures after maxing the meter. I found I had to compensate alot for various temperatures continuously - a real pain in the butt. My car runs different boost in all gears so the extra resolution will help me greatly.
  6. Most definitely, the Airflow correction table enables me to firstly get the mixtures into the ball park before dyno tunning on the map. Alot of standard Air flow meters work the same with a bypass. ie VR4
  7. That's it i want NOS, cheating maybe but the pink slips will be mine ! hang on NOS costs more than double my turbo did. lol
  8. I have been experimenting with a small filter placed after the Stock Air Flow meter to reduce the air the meter see's and therefore increases the readable hp range. I have had my car running with adjustments made to the AirFlow %correction on my Power FC. ie 20% air bypassed through my little filter at idle then the correction will be 120% and so on from 0-5v I am unsure if the fine tunning capabilities will be effected with this setup. I have seen numerous other vehicle modified like this for cost effective measures. Is it worth it?? I don't know. Has anyone done/seen/heard of this before with a Power FC? Cheers Matt
  9. lol, that's exactely what I did. haven't had it dyno'd yet...just pre-empting you next question. Just got my nismo reg from greenline the other day and still chasing a Z32 Air flow meter.
  10. Any injector duty cycle over 90% is unsafe. Tuning will be comprimised as it is. I had 92% and any adjustment to the map made absolutely no difference to A/F ratio's.
  11. Very true. The reason I went for my hybrid turbo is because mine started making some strange noises after some extended 250kmph cruisin with the heat wrap. On inspection the turbo looked fine, but, I rebuild it just in case.
  12. Don't under estimate the gains from Heat wrap. Apart from reducing under bonnent temps, the wrap which keeps the heat in and causes increases in pipe temp and gas temp. Temp promotes increased verlocity. Remember air is less dense at increasing temps. So there are more than one reason to invest. I had my exhaust, turbo and entire dump wrapped for my 12.9 second pass with the stock turbo. Dean: The car is being tuned tomorrow. The power can't be compared any more as my internals are far from stock=) The turbo will make 240rwkw to 260rwkw at 16psi on an internally stock engine. Maybe more with more boost and adjustable fuel reg.
  13. I have found there i a T04b super series Vtrim that has a bigger exducer than the standard TO4b Vtrim, it allows it to boost faster. OMG I'm getting one ! They are from www.turbonetics.com click on the T online catalogue at the bottom of the page.
  14. An electronic would bring on boost earlier aswell. It already makes 15psi before 3000rpm! NICE, I wish my car had no lag =(
  15. If you look at the dyno sheet it actually made 216rwkw @ only 13psi....which is very impressive, if the turbo could be sorted to hold boost to redline it would probably make and extra 30rwkw....might be as easy as a HKS actuator $150 from greenline. Nice car, great buy.
  16. The tuner along with the speaker amp and pre out's/in are all in the CPU. I have one. Same model. The CPU isn't available any more as the CVA 1000E has been updated. As I said the screen is totally useless by itself. Someone who just wants the CPU obviously has a stolen unit. The unit also doesn't receive TV without the additional module.
  17. The module....is it a TV Tuner or the Cpu(control box for the screen)? The monitor is useless without it.
  18. A .5A/R Comp cover is very small for a turbo of that family... According to the compressor map for a TO4E 57 trim, it will flow 396hp(engine) max at 25psi and won't make 15psi untill 3900psi to 4200psi on an RB25.
  19. you did also say "try me and you might be surprised". A little contradicting... It is very cheap as it is I know, I have been looking in sydney and a totally stock one with 29,000k's was 45 g's...pffft. Also a Tommy Kaira for $50,000....trying to work a trade on that one. have a nice day, don't stress it will sell when people realise 34's are going to be hard to get for a while with the new compliancing rules.
  20. Bah, you don't have a exhaust flap jammed shut...... hehe
  21. Love that train of thought, If you don't try your will never know.
  22. Elithrar: 200rwkw is reachable @ 15psi with the stock unit, pfc, fmic and zorst. Merli: Have you considered 2510's. I have been for a ride in an R with them fitted and I must say lag was not evident at all. The vehicle was fitted with external wastegates in japan. Bit of a strange set up however the bottle neck up top may have been relieved some what with the higher flowing gates.
  23. I picked em up for $300 the pair still with the cast spikes. =)
  24. bigcarl: the Nittos I'm using are suitable for street only because of their low profile and don't offer much improvement on take offs. Vastly improved in every other aspect of driving over any tyres I have owned, even in the wet.
