The bearing noise you hear is your thrust bearing wizzing around like normal. some are noisier than others and are generally replace each time you do your clutch. Second, the 'glunk' you hear i would imagine is either your centre bearing in your tailshaft either loose or worn, or could also be your front yoke uni joints in your tailshaft are stuffed. Id take it to someone to have a good look. Or you could climb underneith and check yourself.

Can't Boost In Hot Weather, Well Not The Usual Amount.
Ryanrb25 replied to WogsRus's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
the stock turbo runs outta puff after 12psi anyways, i dont know why you'd wanna try put it up boost on a bloody hot day aswell...i can see alot of people shaking their heads right about now. you said your well aware of pinging etc and you say its fine, but most of the time you cant hear it pinging. -
spot on! i TIG, MIG, ARC and BRAISE at work most days, my opinion is, anyone trying to start, you wont get it first, second, third or even your 16th time. but you'll get there. It's not a certified trade for no reason.

in most cases when people complain about their rb25's runnin sick its usually directed at the ECU playing tricks with timing etc (like you said). This usually doesnt effect the bottom end power what so ever. It has the same symptoms as what your describing, like it feels like your towing a boat. I'd start with the simple things. Try by gapping your spark plugs to .7mm but usually this doesnt effect anything under 9-10psi but give it a go anyways. Then maybe get a timing light and sus out what static timing your CAS is set at.

have you asked SAU in the driveline/etc section?

not alot of people have them on 33's. i did it because it was different, especially dark rims on a white car...

wait, when you replaced the gasket on the stock oil cooler, did you use any gasket goop? and , does the gasket go on more than two ways? would it be possible to put it in the wrong way? there's something sus about that pressure still there. edit: looking at the picture doesn't look like you can f**k up puting the gasket on wrong...looks more 'only one way' style.

my mate has a MONSTA (i know i know) intercooler on his 33, i have a hybrid (woweeee!!!!) anyways, his looks fancier with the whole delta fin thing...and i see no difference in them what so ever! i installed both kits, pretty much exactly the same, just made in CHINA! that's why their cheap. maybe the piping is a little thinner in the walls but for what its worth, i shoulda pocketed my 400 bux and spent that elsewhere. Simular cars, same boost, close to same km, same with most things and they are neck and neck....food for thought. just buy one champ.

hmmm, if you removed the inlet manifold are you sure its not a slight leak around that general area? i ran an rb30 for a few years with a blown head gasket and that used to CHEW through coolant like a mofo. ran fine the day i took it out. so im pretty sure the coolant wont cause a problem. Also, correct me if im wrong but coolant is an anti-corrosive mixture which should actually prevent rust so that shouldn't be a problem. ALSO, check to see if you can pinpoint where its actually coming from because i had a simular noise coming from the timing belt cover and there was a leak (rb30 but same thing) around the water pump and was making the belt make wierd noises. so maybe some coolant went in there.... im just throwing ideas! im no expert however!

yea all i was getting at was the fact that the rb30det is basically a purpose built thing and not an origional thing. where as 2j is a factory motor doin the same thing. that's very interesting, i would imagine yamaha would have designed the head for revvvving! also i believe all forced induction toyotas came with forgies....including 3sgte 4agze etc etc.

hehe, she's been whinnie the pooh, chip and dale, all sorts of other american characters we dont know about....she says its amazing....get back on the 26th...and yes the car has helped me through it hehe. been hard but good for a break after 2 years. thanks for askin.

i had an R31 with a RB25det in it before i got my 33, i got defected and had to go over the pits, i found out, if i converted it to an NA rb25 then it would go through without a brakes upgrade, engineers cert etc. (couldnt afford it at the time), anyways, i took the manifold off, put NA one one, plugged up all the fittings etc, got NA inlet piping etc....used turbo AFM, bla bla bla.....RAN LIKE A DREAM. smooth as, and it didn't drive too bad! believe it or not. The Turbo has a 9:1 comp ratio which is the same as an NA rb30 anyways... cutting a long story short, ended up doin a swap of some 'silver plates of some sort' and had to undo the conversion for no apparent reason. hehe...

as bubba said, factory form 600+ hp as opposed to purpose built rb30det. i have some massive respect for the 2jz. I would even compare a 1jz to a rb26det, as many people do these days.

saw two R33's today both pulled over together, both series 1's. The black one with a chick in it and a dark green (i think) with two blokes in it. On greenwith rd up at golden grove. I was just leaving work so it was around 4 oclock. anyone?

-
thanks alot, that helped. it says i have 2 slots, with 512mb things in each one. if that makes sene. i know lappies have come along way these days in the way of cooling etc...but is it not a good idea to up my ram to say 2 x 1gb ram sticks...will that cook it? any idea's to help my lappy from not cooking? thanks
