  1. Dammit this job sounds absolutely perfect for me.. Pity im in Sydney! I'd move to Melb but your weather is shite
  2. The subject for email notifications no longer reflects the name of the thread that it's notifying about. Is this by design? Also, in the thread list view, rolling over the subject used to display a tool tip with a preview of the text in the post. That hasnt worked for a while either. Just though I'd let you guys know.. Cheers!
  3. I bought my car from Joel. He's excellent to deal with. Very patient and willing to help. For example I asked him to drive the car to a workshop to get a compression test done on it, and he was very happy to do so on a Saturday morning. The R33 I got was excellent value, and has been fantastic for the time that I've had it. I'd recommend Joel to anyone buying an import!!
  4. xenons? its not the ballast buzzing is it?
  5. hmmm ok not so sure then.. I doubt it would have anything to do with trans. Maybe two stage electronic dampers or something?
  6. ...sorry I think its the aerial up/down switch... (down is half way down, and up is fully up) **edit -- ah actually sorry i think thats wrong... the aerial switch is further up than that on the left isnt it? What car? Where is it in relation to the steering wheel? Below? Left? Right?
  7. Self destruct sequence initiation switch
  8. hell yeah dave... yours sounded angry!! very nice indeed!
  9. Thanks liz! Good to see you are making progress too! Adam had a cracker with 1:13! I was surprised and impressed!
  10. Adam pulled a 1:13 with a stock turbo and semi's! It just goes to show what difference semi slicks can have!
  11. Yep, I had a ball... after snapping a wheel stud on my FIRST LAP! After that drama I managed to fit 23 laps into the afternoon and got a best time of 1:15.9! Big ups for Steve and Adam for organising the day. It was a shame about the hiccups regarding water and power and keys etc, but it was a great weekend all the same! Nice to meet some faces I haven't met before too! Cheers!
  12. Yeah I saw that too... It didnt look good! Cops and fire engines all over the place!
  13. Yeah thats a good point! although you dont have to be rude about it.. Even if you do change the wheels, I think you should let him know that he was wrong to save it happening to others!! (once he's finished your car of course!)
  14. FFS its the LAW! Tell the old c**t where to go! If he wants to enforce the law, tell him to find out what it IS first. Show him the proof and tell him to pass the car. You can go to the trouble to change the rims if you feel thats good for you, but you're doing both of you a favour by teaching this old guy that he doesnt know his shit IMO
  15. Full A4 page is plenty (unless you're majorly short sighted)
  16. Steve - You're a legend to offer this! I should be right to make mine up. You just reminded me that I have a laminator at work too!
  17. Yeah I tried some WD40 on it, and it didnt seem to make much difference. It looks like there is a nut around the allen key bit, but im not sure what it's for exactly? Any ideas? (See pic attached)
  18. I'd definitely be interested!! Please keep me posted!
  19. Does anyone with Apexi N1 Coilovers know how to adjust the damper settings? I've tried twisting the allen key bit in the top, but it seems to be stuck. Do you have to undo the nut at the top first or something? Or is that for something else? I thought I'd better check first so as not to screw anything up! Also is there an easy way to adjust the rear shocks? Or do you need to dismantle the back of the car? Cheers!
  20. haha.. guilty on all three counts - My car runs rich for safety sake - I have remote start that I use to warm the car up a few minutes before leaving home. - Big exhaust (5" or something silly like that!) All of those points are a good reason why it's happening though! I guess I cant really complain that its happening then aye..
  21. Yeah exactly.. its a pain in the ass. I've gotta wash the car every week (I usually do anyway) but if I miss a week, I've gotta use polish to get the stuff off... Very annoying!
  22. I wouldnt use some of the other dicky versions of the octane booster. I've tried a few and they're crap.. I've used the nulon pro strength and i felt a definite difference. More power, smoother, and less knock (reduction of maximum 50 down to about 35) This was at a track day, and I used about 2/3 bottle for 45-50 L of fuel. Standard bottle is 500ML, and they say that this treats 60L. See below for the exact RON increases. You can get it from Repco, or I 've found it at some caltex's Taken from Nulon Site: Nulon Pro Strength Octane Booster is specifically formulated to increase the octane rating of petrol used in high performance and competition engines. High performance, high compression engines require fuel with a higher octane than normal passenger cars. Using a fuel that does not have a sufficiently high octane rating causes the engine to detonate (ping), which in turn can cause severe engine damage. Every engine has a minimum octane requirement (OR) that depends upon engine design and, in particular, compression ratio. The higher the compression ratio, the higher the OR. If the petrol used does not have a sufficiently high Research Octane Number (RON) to cater for the engine's OR then detonation occurs. Detonation is the term used to describe the chemical breakdown of the fuel/air mixture, which results in premature self-combustion during the compression stroke of the engine, i.e. the mixture explodes prior to ignition by the spark plug. Under these circumstances the force of the explosion is opposing the direction of piston travel resulting in enormous loads. If detonation is allowed to continue, engine failure can occur. Nulon PSO substantially increases the RON of petrol, thus reducing the likelihood of detonation. Nulon PSO is compatible with all leaded and unleaded fuels including race fuel and Avgas. It should be noted that the lower the RON of the base fuel, the greater the increase after the treatment. Conversely, high RON base fuel yields a much lower increase after treatment. This phenomenon applies to all octane enhancers. Many high performance modern engines are fitted with "knock sensors". These sensors recognise the moment detonation commences and retard the ignition timing to stop further damaging detonation. However, while retarding the ignition timing protects the engine from damage, it robs the engine of performance and efficiency. Adding Nulon PSO at the correct ratio stops this whole cycle and promotes maximum performance and efficiency without risk of damage. Many cars imported into Australia have to constantly operate on premium unleaded petrol (PULP) of 95 RON or higher. In remote areas of Australia, PULP is unavailable. Nulon PSO effectively converts regular unleaded fuel to PULP when treated according to the directions. Strict testing of Nulon PSO ensures that no component contained in this product will have a detrimental effect on any engine or fuel system part. All components have been tested for millions of kilometres. Benefits: Boosts RON by up to 7 numbers Stops engine detonation (pinging) Maximises horsepower potential Reduces overheating and piston damage Safe for catalytic converters and oxygen sensors Components are US EPA approved Protects against valve seat recession Indicative RON increases: 91.5 Unleaded +PSO=96.5 (5.0 RON increase) 95 PULP +PSO=98.1 (3.1 RON increase) 98 PULP +PSO=100.1 (2.1 RON increase) 96 LRP +PSO=98.5 (2.5 RON increase) (When used at maximum recommended treat rate.)
