  1. Lens has not been cleaned as it didn't appear to be dirty. There is a UV filter in place. Can't tell you specific settings off hand. Examples will go up tonight. Cheers
  2. Bought the missus a D90 for her birthday, got the kit with the 18-55 and the 55-200mm VR lenses. Now while we are both very much amatuers I expected that the pics we have snapped would be a bit better than what we're seeing, even on auto. She started mentioning that the iage quality wasn't that good so I've been taking a closer look. I'll post up some examples from home tonight but the big issue is image blur/lack of shaprness/soft edges on subject matter of photo regardless of focus. The most recent example was on the weekend at a car show, taking photos of static cars on a bright sunny day the camera still managed to generate blur in the image, we're not talking super motion blue as if the car was moving but the edges of subject are surprisingly soft given how much light is about. This is with the standard 18-55 lense, with auto focus and VR both enabled. Half hold to get focus then take a photo. Sure I concede that I might move a touch but I dont have parkinsons and a standard digital camera takes cripser pics ( using a 12mp panasonic lumic as a comparison) At first I thought it was because lots of pics we took were inside in low light conditions, here i was surprised by the image clarity but just assumed the standard flash wasn't throwing out enough light. So I made sure to do some testing of well lit static items to compare. I've used the in camera clean image sensor option and reset the camera to factory defaults, no change. The camera and the lenses are always stored properly in a bag and handled carefully, nothing has been dropped. I know it's hard to comment without pics (I will put some up) but any ideas?
  3. Ahh thanks for that. Is the blue triangle with the lightning bolt used to show the location of the isolator switch? And on that, does it matter where I put the switch? Is closer to the battery better?
  4. Well I'm a pretty nice guy so I'll give you the S13, all my spares and some cash YOUR way instead I'm all heart.
  5. Excellent. Also, I think you want to trade me your R34 for my Silvia. The Silvia is pretty hektik and I know you can appreciate that...
  6. As good as it is to be hektik... is it actually required?
  7. I've got all my gear together now and am embarking on the job but I was wondering, do I need a blue trianlge sticker on the car now? It's only club level and still street reg'd. I grabbed an isolator that will allow remote pull to swich off but won't be connecting the remote feature straight away. Will just leave the key in the isolator.
  8. Hand up to be backup nav!
  9. Snowy are you driving the new 34?
  10. Loioking at the course maps is a good idea (derr) We have some friends in Tolmie and as I understand it there are some stages nearby, so could work out well. Who else is competing?
  11. Who's entered, who's spectating and from where? I'm thinking of heading up to take a look but the spectator packages don't seem like a great value, I imagine there are plenty of places to watch easily enough. Who else is going?
  12. Hmm, I'm not about to ditch the S13 for a Miata but good to hear there's some more stuff going on. Cheers for the info on licensing too
  13. Heard some alright stuff about it but it's a 3hr+ drive from here. Winton is only 1
  14. Yeah a cage I figured and that's fine but I'm more interested in what door to door series are actually out there being contested. A mate of mine is into speedway type racing, VK', EB's etc but they use dirt and tarmac circuits not ovals and he's racing every other weekend door to door and loves it. Surely there's got to be something like that at Winton.
  15. Just curious as I'd like to get involved in some door to door racing. Winton is my local track so wondering if anyone is participating in entry level door to door racing there. The website is crud. If you are, what licensing do you need, what class are you in etc. I've got a CA18DET S13 so ideally I'd be going for a catergory that suits the car without too many changes.
  16. I lol'd Date: Mon, 18 Oct 2010 09:12:12 +1100 Subject: XR6 From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Hi Jas, I didn't get your email til after work by which time the banks were closed sorry. I checked your confirmed account details and I'd made a mistake when I was at the bank, woops! I have spoken to my insurance company about what it may cost to insure the vehicle and they asked me to confirm if the car can go more than 88mph. A friend of mine had a car that could do over 88mph and he has some sort of accident - We haven't heard from him since Cheers Dan On Tue, Oct 19, 2010 at 12:17 PM, Jason Derrington <[email protected]> wrote: Hi Dan, No, only the turbo engine can go over 88 mph. 17. Cheers, just good to have some feedback. Fingers crossed the steering is good after this all goes back together
  18. Yeah I thought so also but I'm wondering if there's any reason there should be grease that far up the shaft. I'm assuming that so long as I dont have power steering fluid anywhere in there then I'm good to go?
  19. I bought an S15 rack to go in the Silvia after busting the original one at the last DECA. I'm in the process of swapping over the Tie Rods and I noted that one side of the rack is dirty and one side is clean. It looks like grease from the tie rod socket and I can't see any power steering fluid but I'm wondering, is this a bad sign. I don;t want to be putting in a rack that's about to go. Pics attached: dirty side/clean side I posted this in the Suspension section too, no bites.

  21. Yep. I'd say when the ad gets pulled he gets an email saying so, he then sends an email to anyone who he has already received an enquiry from with his dodgy email saying the vehicle and the seller are all cleared by carsales. Dodge-a-rific.

  23. I'm gonna start having some fun maybe... On Thu, Oct 14, 2010 at 11:21 PM, Jason Derrington <[email protected]> wrote: Dan, Great. Don't forget to confirm the payment by sending a scanned copy of the transfer receipt from your bank at ebay at the following email : [email protected] so they can see that the payment has been made and send me the shipping instructions. thanks, Jas On Fri, Oct 15, 2010 at 11:26 AM, Dan Fewster <[email protected]> wrote: Hi Jas, My bank said the account details did not exist, can you confirm what account I should be using? I must have made a mistake. It's been a very long week at work and I've been having problems with my other new car, the mechanic told me "This R2 unit has a bad motivator" which sounded expensive. Oh well. Cheers Dan
  24. That's my point Baron, When I reported it to carsales and had the ad pulled then started getting "carsales" emails etc I thought wow that is some effort to go to and to the untrained eye some of those emails might look legit. You and I can see that it's obviously fake, not everybody can pick it so I'm sharing it around so that perhaps others can be better prepared. Don't shoot the messenger If there weren't people who fell for this then ACA would run out of stories to run pretty quickly. Just trying to spread the word.
