This bad boy showed up today. Hoping to finish wiring and fire it up this weekend maybe. -
Turbo Bag On A Race Car

No comments on the warping issue? -
That's kind of how I read it too. I'm thinking that the only team orders will be race til near the end then see where everyone is in the running order, make a call from there. Anyone of them could bin it on the first corner, and as was mentioned, Mark has been starting pretty poorly.

Turbo Bag On A Race Car
No Crust Racing replied to GTS-t VSPEC's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Just to throw this into the mix. Though I don't know this first hand, I've heard plenty of mention about warping housings when using a bag. This would be something to consider on a race car that sustains high temps. Or is this just an old wives tale? -

Wow Kell that is pretty harrowing stuff, so glad to hear that you're in reasonable shape given what the outcome could have been. -
New D90 Taking Surprisingly Average Pics

I'll take a few more test pics and point out what I'm talking about as far as what I think should/could look better. As for the difference in fstop and iso number, why would the Canon be choosing such a different set of figures and producing a result that so much richer in colour? TBH the Nikon did look more representative of the real colours, the table protector is not that orange. -

"Did you expect to just point it at something and have everything turn out awesome?" Well I was hoping so Note at the bottom of my last post I said What am "I" doing wrong. I'm not blaming the camera, I wanted to confirm that there was nothing wrong with it, and I have so that's good but I'd still like to have a better idea on how to get some decent shots out of it and feel like the money was worth it and I appreciaet the feedback I'm getting here Using your anology, even in fully auto mode the lambo is a pretty trick bit of gear, without touching any of the e-gear or traction settings etc it will rock out, the D90 however seems to treat auto mode like running the lambo on 4 cylinders, or about as good as a snazzy looking fiesta. Yes I realised going fully manual would yeild better results, as I'm sure it would in the lambo if you went crazy fine tuning everything, but I did expect that in it's basic auto mode it would still be noticable better in a side by side comparison. -

OK Same setup as before. D90 1 Reset done, timer 2 As above 3 Highes F number in P mode 4 Lowest F number in P mode Canon Ixus 80 5 Reset done, fully auto, timer 6 As above The D90 doesn't appear to have gotten any better after reset (no UV filter on any of these pics) Tmie of day is similar and the subject and distance is pretty similar too. The comparison makes the D90 look very overpriced in this basic comparison. Surely the D90 can't be only as good as a basic Canon point and shoot. What am I doing wrong =\ -

Yeah I confirmed it was Ben also, local news covered it as well. -
I read from this question in the post brazil press conference that team orders were allowed in these situations? "Q: (Edd Straw - Autosport) Mark, given that a win today would have meant that you would have gone to Abu Dhabi knowing that a win would be enough to win the championship, and given that there’s a precedent saying that in the title run-in team orders are allowed, should the team have swapped you and Sebastian? " From this link http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2010/11/11491.html Even still... I'd prefer to see Webber take out the last race on his own with Seb 2nd and Alonso anywhere else. If he can't pull that off then you'd have to imagine he'll be replaying his two errors earlier in the season over and over in his head. As much as I disliked Vettel, he has come a long way in the second half of this season. He still looks like and interviews like a douchebag.

Happy to do that next time, but I'm not about to go back and do it for these ones unless the consensus is it's killing people horribly to click the current links lol there's that laziness coming out.. -

The dog and car shot were daytime and well lit, the book shot was around 6pm but under the pergola. I've found that without the flash It's almost impossible to get a good shot in low lit indoor scenarios so far, I wasn't overly impressed by the fill of the flash either, and by fill I mean how deep into the photo it can light up. (Trying to take photos of someone doing a speech from a respectable distance for example) But we'll get to that -

Yeah I get what you're saying. Am I the only one who thinks that on "actual size" the engine bay of the car doesn't look that clear or that the pictures of the book look a little soft around the edges? Surely that's not being too picky? I guess I was under the impression that given the camera has a much wider ange of settings to choose from it would be smart enough to outdo a point and shoot on auto in most situations. -

Yeah I'll reset it tonight and see what difference that makes, to be fair I have played with quite a few settings To be honest, I'd expect that even "crappy" kit lenses should smash a basic point and shooter without needing to be a pro photographer to make it so. We'll see what resetting the settings does. I might also do some testing with the 55-200 -

Some back to back testing will show up just how much better that is. (Auto for Auto battle) My Canon is just an ixus 85. I guess I was hoping that I could stick it on Auto and have some decent pics come out, pretty much every point and shoot will take decent snaps on auto so I hoped that the D90 might be a bit better when also on Auto. Sometimes it's just not practical to change the settings for every pic you take. -

That evo looks suspiciously like Ben Quick's, can anyone confirm? He's a a local to my neck of the woods. I pass him in that car regularly on the way to work. Be a shame if it's been sacrificed =\ -

No Crust Racing replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Photography
I might do some back to back testing with my little canon point and shoot. I dont think it's that unreasonable to expect that the D90 should take better pics than a $200 camera when both are on auto. Best tips for ensuring crisp photos? Using the photo of the engine bay as an example, how could that have been made clearer. At actual size there's a fair bit of detail lost due to blur in the engine bay components especially. Is this caused by the random light scattering around? Also do other D90 users find that the standard flash lacks a little fill sometimes? -
New D90 Taking Surprisingly Average Pics
No Crust Racing replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Photography
I'll give both of these things a try but to compare, the shot of the dog was also on auto, it came out much clearer, granted it was out in the sunshine. The book shots just lack crispness. TBH I thought that given I can put the lumix on auto and get arguably better shots that Auto on the Nikkon would do a decent job =\ I expected the BG to be blurred as I've played with the A mode doing some test shots for that arty background blurred effect, what I'm talking about is the lack of clarity on the actual subject matter. I'll try the reset tonight and see if it helps. At this stage I'm trying to get the best shot out of the cam before going to post processing, once I understand how to do that properly I can assist the missus (it's her camera) she is planning on doing a course on it but in the mean time I'd like to skill up a bit and get some better snaps out of the camera without having to go all crazy on the settings. Thanks for the input so far guys. -

OK here we go. 1 - UV Filter, no timer - just press botton 2 - UV Filter with timer 3 - No UV Filter and timer 4 - No UV Filter, no timer, no steady base (I'm holding the camera) 5 - Random shot of the dog, clarity here is quite good even at "actual size" when viewing on the PC. Camera is just being held in hand, set to auto with UV in place. 6 - Random shot from the Hot Rod Run - Camera held in hand, UV in place, on Auto - Clarift of the engine bay/components is average at actual size. All in all though, clarity isn't stellar though the Dog shot isn't bad, the first four shots that were on a solid base look like they could use some extra lighting or something and the hot rod shot seems like maybe the reflecting light from all the shiney stuff is upsetting the camera maybe? Thoughts?
