Starcorp Racing Impul Owner Please
TokyoTaxi replied to subie's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Funky & Baron, I do hear what you're saying about the quality of chinese made wheels in general, but subie asked about the Starcorp Impuls, and to my knowledge, I've never heard of this particular line of wheel failing. My comment about getting what you want & like, is more aligned to those who go cruising / commuting etc and not for those who hit the track. Same theory applies to tyres ( to some degree ) in as much as a set of Nangkang NSII's might suit those who cruise but are not suited for the track. As for the looks..... Well in many cases I would have to agree. There are a lot of butt ugly wheels out there, but not all of them are made in china Also, I have to say, that I have had many compliments on the wheel and tyre combo that I have on my car so I'm not alone in my taste. Oh & nisskid, that's a fair comment. -
Starcorp Racing Impul Owner Please

On my 34 I first had the stockies fitted which were 17 x 7.5 with 225/45/17's fitted. Then I had some lightweight wheels fitted which were 17 x 8 with 235/45/17 Toyo TPG's fitted & 17 x 9 with 255/40/17 Toyo TPG's fitted. Now I have Starcorp Impul's fitted which are 18 x 8.5 with 255/35/18 FK452's fitted & 18 x 9.5 with 275/35/18 FK452's fitted. This should give you some frame of reference for my opinion. Anyway, if you're going from 17's with 235/45/17's up to something like I have, yes, you will feel the subtle differences in acceleration, braking and steering. All in all, big f*#king whoop..... ( unless you're a track junky and are looking to shave a second off your lap time ). I know what I like, want and "need" so I got these. Many people go out and pay $3-4K on racing style wheels and tyres and then carry on about how light their wheels are only to then go and install an amp, a boxed sub, sound deadening and every other bolt on accessory they can find and only ever go cruising Figure out what you want and need and then go get it. There will always be someone who will criticise your decision so get what YOU want and enjoy. -
Thanks for the pics nissanskyrice ! Cheers for making the effort I think they look PHAT !! R34's are so thick and meaty that thin spoked wheels look disproportionate to me. Oh well, I guess it comes down to personal taste If I do end up getting some I'll take some pics and post em up.

Dip Stick Pops Out. Bleeding Crank Case Air.
TokyoTaxi replied to RB30 Ceffy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Make sure your crank case venting is clean / clear ( vents are on cam covers ). If you have a catch can, be sure that the lines and fittings are not restrictive so as to cause excessive crank case pressure. Might not be the answer but it's one thing to look at. -
I know what you're saying but a while ago I saw a lowered R33 GTS-t in wine red, with dark tint and grey R32 GT-R wheels and it looked old skool & TUFF !! I can't get it out of my head so I thought "maybe" that look "might" transfer across to a lowered R34...... Anyway, if the R32 GT-R wheels will clear the calipers I might just give it a try. Plus 225/50R/16's are a cr@p load cheaper than the 275/35R/18's I've got on atm.

= Me Prol not plus 1.5 since .5 has been known to on occasion and I don't want to ruin everyone's dinner. Don't think 1 is ready to leave .5 behind yet either
-
Just want to know if anyone knows ? Would R32 GT-R rims fit on a R34 GTT and clear the calipers ? OR Could anyone in the southern side of Sydney loan me a R32 GT-R rim so I could find out ? Cheers.

R34 Gt-r Climate Control Unit
TokyoTaxi replied to TokyoTaxi's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Super easy to install. Just pop the center vent out and the climate control is ready for removal. It's a straight replacement. I installed it ( plugs are the same too ) and started the car, adjusted the temp and everything changed accordingly, then pushed the dial and the ambient temp came up so it all seemed to work fine. Just didn't like the green display. -

I tried changing globes but it didn't change the display. I think the LCD screen displays in green and the lights just make it bright. GMan, Ambient Temp = outside air temperature ( not including wind temp ) -
Only if I went back to Japan ( which I won't be doing for a while ).

I don't usually pay much attention to the km's on used imports, only the condition so if it is wound back.....meh ! To be completely honest though, this 34 is in such awesome condition I think the km's could be accurate I remember seeing in a Jap Mag in Osaka an odo pic that was 123,456.7km which I thought was a damn fine effort

So, I Was Cleaning My Car The Other Day...
TokyoTaxi replied to ScaryTed77's topic in New South Wales
When I first got my 32 there were a couple of parking garage receipts and one coin / token ? but the cool thing was a cheque for 25,000 yen in the sun visor. It was signed and ade out to someone but at the time I couldn't find anyone to translate it. More than anything I thought it would be cool to find out the name of the prior owner. Actual cash would always be been much better tho ! -
Nothing to be gained by installing a high flow cat to a stock N/A system ( IMO ) unless th one you have is damaged or blocked. Sound would prol be the same too.

Cusco Master Cylinder Stopper
TokyoTaxi replied to GTR32GUS's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Just tighten it firm enough to know it's well contacted with the M/C. Don't put too much pressure on the M/C since the brace is there to stop the firewall from flexing while braking only and too much pressure "could" cause the firewall to crack in the other direction.
