  1. cheers for the input all. i spoke to someone who sells garret turbo's and they recomended a gt3540R. whats everyone else's opinion on that? ta. James.
  2. want it for good quater mile times... as good as possible...
  3. think it doesnt need to be cut, but like i said.. mere speculation...
  4. gidday. after a while of looking for intercooler kits, i came to the conclusion that 300x 600 x 76ml size fmic's fit in r32 gts-t's without fuss or hassle... but id love to know if thats right or wrong.... cos its based on mere speculation. James.
  5. whats the advantage/ disadvantage of not having a piggy back and just getting the ecu remaped? (sorry to go off topic)
  6. hey all. i have an 89 model r32 gts-t. im after a turbo upgrade, but i dont know what to buy. i can afford a total of roughly $2000 (tax return, yay!) for parts (manifold, turbo, gaskets etc.). ive resaerched this topic on the forums but couldnt find a conclusive desision. although i think that Garret turbos seem to be popular and of quality. but correct me if im worng. im after a SOLID 200 or more rwkw (the more the merrier) with minimal lag. ive been told that if your gunna get a turbo upgrade you need to upgrade you BOV? is this true? what has everyone else done?.. other mods that will be done at the same time are 300*600*76 fmic 2.5 inch exhaust e-manage piggy back computer greddy rs bov (if nesasary) steel head gasket yeah. cheers all. and pretty please dont lecture me about "doing a search"cos i did a detailed search with no luck. sorry if i missed somthing. thanks heaps in advance. James.
  7. : umm... hate sounding ignorant but will this fit an r32 gts-t?.... cheers, James. please pm me.
  8. giday mate. although this is a repeat of what everyone else said, get a manual. automatics are just dull and boring. sure, in a stock r32 gts-t you can get sideways pretty easy in the wet, you just gotta make sure your not giving it much go and be real careful. my only suggestion is that you get an experienced manual driver to go with you for a little while until your confident with the manual driving.. also you always have to keep in mind that your HUMAN and that its pretty easy to f**k things up when you eventually start getting into drifting (if your not already into it)... cos thats how i f**ked up my first car... peace out. James.
  9. no engine mods etc yet. and i did perform a search with no success. engine conversion seems a little to elaborate for my likeing. cheers for the link gtst
  10. rb25 conversion? with 5k? are you serious or was it just an opportunity to bag out the rb20:b...
  11. sup guys. if i remember correctly, you can have a pillar mount gauge as long as it does not get in the way of the veiw of the windscreen. if that makes sense. i would check on vicroads and find the legal modifications list thing... but its hidden away a bit... (obviously this is for you dezz cos your from vic it seems). so you will have to take a search. cheers. james.
  12. hey all im sure that this will get many a response. i have an r32 gts-t. i have lost my licence for a year and now that i wont be spending money on petrol/ servicing etc, i can save up for some happy modifications. now i can hear many of you conservative people saying "well you've already lost your licence, what makes you think you should be given more power?"... dont want to hear it. cheers. i should have about 5k saved (hopefully) just before i get my licence back. so with that budget in mind, what modifications do ya'll recommend i get? my plan was- bigger intercooler, 2.5 inch turbo-back exhaust, turbo upgrade, and heavy duty clutch (if nesacary)... oh. and a front bar and sideskirts will be necasary cos its not as good looking as it should be atm. unrealistic? keeping in mind i need to pay for man hours as well. all feedback would be greatly appreciated. james.
  13. that really sucks... hope things turn out for the best...
  14. cheers everyone. now i can sleep alot easier knowing what the mystery button was in my car.... is it possible to get this "air purifier" in australia? would it maintain the "distinct r32 smell".
  15. yes. too true funky monkey, i am currently at my mates workshop (he's installing a turbo timer for me) and i currently have no access to a digital camera, however, i will put up a pic as soon as i can!
  16. i love movies AND posts with happy endings!
  17. no... but there is a indentation where a box type thing has been screwed in and removed.... i think that your right... but still, more possibilities would be appreciated...
  18. just on the issue of fuel consumption, i think that 300km to 40 l of fuel is reasonable, my stock standard engine takes roughly 50 litres to 375 k's, and thats ALOT of hard driving (many 6000 RPM gear changes)... but i havent had my car dyno'd so i dont know if its running at normal power though. i thought that the stock rb20 turbos were supposed to run at 4 psi??? cheers. james.
  19. hello all. hope your all well. i just bought my r32 gts-t recently (and im loving it). but i was wondering if y'all could tell me what is the button thats on the centre consol. it has three positions. one with a big fan, one in the middle, one on a small fan. sounds confusing? if you have one on your car you know what im trying to say... im just really tiered and im struggling to talk english good. and who else has the height adjustable front spoiler on theres? mine actually works, where alot of the r32 gts-t's i tested didnt have it working.... does anyone notice a difference in the front being held down? oh and sorry if this is a repsot but i did a search and couldnt find it.... peace out. much love and happy new year to all. james.
  20. i wouldnt call it a waste, i want to keep the car unmodded anyway. so perhaps all the "cost/time/effort" is non existent. thanks any way ya'll. but i put a deposit down today. cheers all. delete this post please moderators.
  21. loan has been approved im looking for an R32 gts-t of any year, preferably unmodified. preferably clean and well looked after. any colour. working sunroof will definately get my attention. even if your car doesnt fit the exact criterior (must be an r32 gts-t though)reply to this topic or pm me anyway.... cheers all. james.
  22. your refering to me are you? i was seriously interested in the car, but had no means of getting it. and now i do thanks to the people at the National Bank. as soon as i get the $ off them. you will have sold your car. hence: im not a timewaster...
  23. word up to that. i also agree with the other guy that its just propaganda to 40+ people who dont understand the reality of the issue to gain votes. i personally think that the best way to fix the problem is either make it harder to get a licence, make an advanced driving course compulsory perhaps? i think that the laws are good the way they are now. and if the nasty new law does come into action then i will cry and cry and cry and cry.... (im gunna be theproud owner of an r32 gts-t soon. which is IN THE LEGAL POWER/WEIGHT RATIO!!!!!!!!) love to all.
  24. no idea. hopefully there is some way of keeping it. i only started this topic from what i have heard other people say. not read in the paper or anyhting like that so it might not even be true.
  25. there is some talk going round that victoria is going to have (i dont know if its GOING to happen, or if its just being considered) a law that p platers cant drive turboed, supercharged or V8 cars... and there is (apparantly) going to be some tough penalties eg: cops can confiscate your car and you dont get any thing for it... my fingers are crossed that it wont happen cos i JUST got a loan approved and im gunna buy an r32 gts-t. if its passed then who else is up for blowing up parliment house ?? (i joke, i joke). disapointed- James.
