  1. That pond would have done less damage than a concrete wall trackside. He would have written off the car and compacted it into a cube had he blindsided a concrete wall instead of having that run-off area and a pond to slow him down  Dry off the car, use a borescope and make sure no water was ingested and his mum would never know the difference
  2. Ohhhh!!!! So *THIS* is where I've been going wrong!!! You're supposed to downshift AFTER corner entry and straighten up your line BEFORE the apex and then jerk the steering wheel back.
  3. Cars are a very subjective thing. Even if your car is competitively priced, a potential buyer may not like the mods that you've done to the car, or the look that you went for. Oh, and 1q2w3e4r is VERY generous by granting a 50% concession to modifications done. I would calculate them at more like 20% of original parts cost, EXCLUDING labour. Modifying cars is a VERY expensive hobby... Both at the time of modification, and the hit you take when trying to sell it
  4. http://www.starlyon.com/walkie/dunkin.WMV He should have saved the money he spent on the bling-bling muthf*ka APEXi RSM and spent it on driver training instead
  5. Just finished up at work... I could have made it after-all!!! DOH!
  6. How many buckets would you fill with the water you used to hose the car down twice? Now how many buckets would you need if you had to fill up buckets of water first, and then throw the buckets of water over the car to wet it, and then rinse it? I have one of those hose "guns" that I "shoot" when I need water. It takes about 30 seconds to fill up my bucket with water. It takes about 45 seconds of spraying to intially rinse down the car, and then perhaps a minute to rinse off the suds after washing. Say about 2 minutes of hose use all up. So that's about 4 buckets? I can tell you WITHOUT A DOUBT that it would take me about 6-8 buckets of water just to do the final rinsing off after washing to get the suds off the car. Pouring a bucket of water to wash things is sooooo inefficient. So I think it's quite reasonable to suggest: I would take 12-14 buckets of water to wash my car with a bucket, and only 4 buckets worth with a hose. Congratulations NSW Government on another well thought out water restriction!
  7. I vote for Nth Sydney
  8. So............. Do we have a consensus on where we're headed?
  9. Teppanyaki sounds good!
  10. I'm not surprised... It was only a matter of time before property developers rape and pillage that massive waterfront area. That my friends, is PRIME real estate, and is being wasted as a holding ground for imported cars I can only imagine how many hundreds of millions that land will fetch on the developer market.
  11. Very nice mate Looks very tidy... Good to see another skyline in the carpark Can't let Rob Dev rule the roost!!
  12. Hmmmm... I think I know that car Oh, and dude, I think you're forgetting about staff drinks at Cargo this Friday night
  13. Ummmmm... I think the Tigers will win
  14. I saw them stick their head out of the door to check you out... I think their early closure was a tactical decision Tiger pen0s beer = teh win!!! Actually it's not as good as drinking it in stinking hot, humid S'pore weather It's too weak for Australian weather... What we REALLY need are those 2 Litre Mini-Kegs of Sapporo and Kirin Ichiban that they have in Japan.
  15. Yes, I believe he has "B-Manned" a few engines, isn't that right Dundan? P.S. He polished off an entire bottle of wine by himself

  20. I know what it would cost, and hence the reason why no-one (me included) has done it to prove the point as yet.
  21. Everytime I've had one of my cars tuned by Jim @ CRD, it has been smoother, AND made more power than previous tune by a different tuner. I'm not saying that the other tuners were sub-par. I was perfectly happy with them. But somehow Jim has always managed to improve the tune by quite a tangible amount. I'm interested in hearing why Jim thinks that Tommyk's Garretts spool up so much later than HKS equivalents though? Could it be as simple as "HKS turbos are better"? I'm a BIG believer in HKS turbos after the INCREDIBLE response and power I've gotten out of an HKS GT3040 on an RB25 and HKS GT-SS's on an RB26. But I've always had the nagging thought at the back of my mind whether I could have had the same results with Garrett turbos? I wonder if Tommyk is willing to bolt on a pair of GT2530s (the HKS equivalent of his Garretts if I've read properly) and see what the difference in results would be?
  22. How does that disagree with what I've posted?
  23. Yeah, that's the question isn't it? I guess I was a little luckier in that my degree incorporated 3x 6 month "industrial training" stints, so when I graduated, I already had 1.5 years experience to go along with the degree. You'll always be able to get an entry level job in ANY industry. Experience or not... It all depends on two things: 1. Good timing (IT boom, lots of vacancies) 2. How much you're expecting to earn
  24. I'm not quite sure what an extra 100cc would do in spooling up the GT-RS, but I'm interested to see if 600hp is willing to take the chance and show us All the UK tuners (who have been testing with the GT-RS's for the last 3 years) readily agree that you need at LEAST a 2.8 stroker or preferably a 3.0 OS Giken kit to get the GT-RS's to spool early enough for a road car.
  25. You didn't offend me... It takes a LOT more than that to offend me But I was concerned that you posted something something so derogatory as to compare IBM to government agencies in a thread where people are clearly trying to help others find their feet in our industry. You might have been posting in jest, but people just getting their feet wet in IT would not know that, and see IBM as a bad place to work for. The internet doesn't convey the same emotions as across a dinner table with beer in hand In any case, IBM does deserve a lot of the cr4p it gets. I know this as much as the next guy, but you can't blanket an entire global company, or even all 150 or so different Australian divisions of IBM with one brush In our small, specialised subsidiary of Big Blue, certifications are a considered a good tool to show what level of knowledge you've been exposed to... Much like a university degree. That isn't exactly a great tool for assuring any level of knowledge But certifications do NOT preclude the much much more important need for practical experience. Not in IBM, not in your company. That said, a CCIE, an exam with less than 10% pass-rate (*including* Cisco employees!) is a pretty good indication of knowledge. Especially since it incorporates a written AND practical lab components. In fact, less than 3% of Cisco-certified professionals actually attain their CCIE.
