He charged me for 2x 5L bottles of Castrol, and gave me the remainder of the oil from the second bottle that he didn't use. I think I still may have some left over in the garage somewhere... Castrol Forumla R 10w60 is what they use in all their big HP engines, including Mario's sh1tbucket, so I deemed it adequate for the purple di1do.

Jim was filling it with about 7.5 Litres of Castrol Formula R 10W-60 if I remember correctly.

Install an oil cooler Kabab. There's your answer. Oil cooler makes a big difference in oil temps. Install an oil cooler Kabab. There's a fair bit of difference between your engine and Kabab's engine I don't think they're really comparable. The difference in heat that an RB26 generates between 230awkw/250rwkw (yours) and 320awkw (kabab's) is MASSIVE. Install an oil cooler Kabab. There's no cooling problem, other than the need for an oil cooler. It's a well known fact that RB26 heads have a major problem with heat dissipation. Just ask Mario, he knows all about it ;) Install an oil cooler Kabab.

I'll bet you $50 that he wants to change the oil, and spark plugs before tuning it. And it seems the more power a GTR makes, the more he charges... Presumably because there's more liability and less room for error with highly-strung GTR engines. Understandable I guess, but it gets old when you're told "$350-750" and then get slapped in the face with a $1500 bill. Anyway, good luck, and you have to come to the next dinner and let me take it for a spin... I'm having major power withdrawls P.S. Have you put on an oil cooler yet? :squint:

Agreed, but you'd be a miracle worker to get Jim to tune a GTR for $400. $500 is what he normally charges just to dial-in cam gears, let alone TUNE the GTR. A basic GTR tune starts at $800 and rapidly increases from there. I have never stepped foot in that workshop without being slapped with a bill LESS than $1000.
