  1. R32 GTS4's and GTR's came standard with em, unless you requested not to get it from the factory. All the others had em optional after late 1989.
  2. There's nothing unique about the Type M other than the sticker on the back. You take an R32 GTSt, it has optional upgrades available when you buy it new from the showroom, like a sports bumper, sideskirts, bigger brakes, alloy wheels etc. You take these optional upgrades, then bundle em into a package, and offer it to customers for slightly less than what it'd cost to get em all seperately. Now you're gonna need a name for this package... and you can't call it "OMGWTFLOL" coz no one wants to drive an "R32 GTSt OMGWTFLOL", so you call it something sporty... you call it a "Type M"... so generations of people who consequently buy the cars run around thinking they have some special car called the "R32 GTSt Type M" when all they have is a base model with a handful of factory extras... all of which are available on the base model. You also get to sit back and chuckle in amusement as the occasional village idiot then starts calling his "R32 GTSt Type M" a "M Spec R32 GTSt". /end rant
  3. lol if I can find em... I posted em back in 2004 gotta see if I can dig em up.
  4. I would... cept I'm keepin my cars all with VIC reg sif get a roadworthy cert every year and deal with multicoloured slips for different things.... most. confusing. registry. process. ever. Hey Kaz, do you mind if I come pick it up tomorrow morning? I'll give you a call beforehand. Redid the booking for monday, gonna get the engineer to redo the cert on friday, and should be 100% fine then. Which means I'll be comin to the breakfast meet in a Hyundai
  5. will look at the 480V. shopping around atm. I have a shortlist of what I need in an alarm. And as I said I would prefer a DEI alarm as i've got some mates who are DEI technicians and salespeople. Just trying to sus out if this import unit is as good as the local one. AFAIK almost all DEI products use the same interface and control module, so a battery backup siren from a local "brain" unit will work with the import one right? Not particularly, as my insurance company just needs a single point immobiliser and don't even require black wiring... which was odd, but I got them to write it on the contract, just so there was no confusion on the matter when it came time to claim. In any case, after talking to my mates who work for DEI a bit more, after all the name calling and threats of not coming to anything I invite em to if I bought the import unit, I'll probably end up with a locally sold DEI ATM I've been recommended a 460XV (blackwired) or 560XV (regular) from Viper, or a Hornet 563T... Need remote start, plus maybe windows up/down for ventilating the car before getting in, and I don't need 2 way communication... might get GPS/GSM later down the track as an add on module (I've been told these ones are compatible). Need it to work with the turbo timer (or have one inbuilt) and possibly have some aux outputs for further addon modules in the future. Oh and I like simple remotes that don't get pressed while in your jeans.... not ones that you can play tetris on. Simple arm, disarm, windows up/down, remote start is all I need on my alarm.
  6. Hey guys, looking to get an alarm for the latest R32... I'm partial to DEI products as I've had good experiences with them on previous cars, like their expandability, support network and features. As such, I have access to the 791XV at wholesale price through a mate who works at DEI, but what "alarmed" me was the fact that you could buy the same alarm form the US and have it shipped here for about 2/3rds the price of the one sold here. Now my mate from DEI has filled me in on the differences in parts, the fact that they are B Grade alarms made for distribution in parts of the world like Mexico etc, and if there are any faults that DEI australia will not touch them even if you pay them to fix it. What I want to know is if anyone in Australia has actually ordered one of these overseas units, and if they've had any issues with them, reliability etc. More than keen to find out if it is worth saving a couple of hundred bucks on a product of the same specifications as the locally sold model. The whole thing sounds very similar days back when owning an import was frowned on because "they're cars made for another country, and they don't have warranties in Australia, no support, no one will ever fix em etc."... now working for a car importer and helping run a forum for imports I know how bollocks that statement turned out to be.
  7. yahuh I'll fill you guys in on it once I get the sample that I've been promised in a couple of weeks.
  8. The parts are half out of the newer GS 300 in Australia, the 2JZ's similar to the supra (altho the aristo's came out before the supras... so half the time when you buy a supra engine, chances are it came out of a much cheaper Aristo). 1UZFE is the same as in soarers, GS 400's and in landcruisers. They're toyota engines, and if they're still in stock form and maintenanced regularly (log books help with this) then they're pretty reliable. Modded engines, dunno. Keep in mind these are commonly used as family cars, not 15yr old shitheap GTR's that have been thrashed to an inch of their life Only parts I can forsee having trouble sourcing is panels... but given that these things are cheap as chips and plentiful, I predict a rush of em comin into the country in the near future.
  9. we got a limited edition run of these not long ago I organised a run of SAU caps not long ago to sell on the forum (not for the clubs) to raise money for hosting etc, but it sorta died in the arse... might look into it again. More recently been looking into some keys... will fill you in on that soon.
  10. put it this way... if this is the only supercar you can afford, then this is not the car for you we came across this one for sale, so we thought we'd throw it up for shits and giggles. Last time we put a mercedes gullwing on our mailing list for shits and giggles (not this prototype one, the older one) the Fox Museum ended up buying it. So you never know.
  11. here's some of the standout examples we've come across (either really cheap, nicely modded, hard to find colours/options etc) http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?search=aristo we get over a 150 each day at auctions and more thru used car dealerships, so there's no shortage of em... I'll go outside and see if I can take some pics of the interior. The one I'm driving dosen't have the leather interior, its all velour.
  12. been driving an aristo twin turbo around for the last few days, and it makes me think why in the world anyone would buy any other sedan. its comfy, its spacious, its sold as a lexus overseas, got more power than you can poke a stick at (and if you don't want to be hassled for having a turbo then get the V8 or straight 6 N/A, both of which are powerful enough to drive around daily). The TT version I'm driving does 600km to a 70L full tank (just tested it on a drive from syd to melb) and is so smooth and quiet on the road. Its around the same price as an R33. The choice between an R33 sedan and an Aristo is pretty easy.
  13. It was done at Testarossa in Shizuoka, invoiced on 19/9/2000. http://www.testarossa.jp
  14. the car's already had an inspection, and it passed everything, cept I couldn't pay the rego as I had just paid the rego on the cef and was $50 short. How embarassment. Then I went to syd for interviews n stuff, so left the R32 here. Now I'm back to get my car, I rang VicRoads and the guy asked me if I had already rego'd it under my name, coz the VIN and my details were already on it. So lets hope they're a lil more leniant as it's already been inspected with that engineer's cert. I've got a current roady, so it shouldn't be that much of an issue, unless they're real diligent. Otherwise I might have to extend my stay in VIC for a lil while until the engineer's cert's gets redone.
  15. moving to NSW. gonna become a sydney person for the near future. I'll be back tho... sometime down the track.
  16. How about an older Lexus GS300? 4 Door Sedan, comes in the option of V8, 2JZ twin turbo and 2JZ non turbo. The V8's are AWD, and CAPA and a whole bunch of companies in Australia can fit ADR tested and approved supercharger kits for the 1UZ-FE. You can have em imported, complied, registered and in your driveway for about 15k to 20k. I'm seriously contemplating upgrading my old man's car from the ceffy to this.
  17. w00t. more the merrier. dare I say it's gonna be my last SAU event as a Victorian. I am hanging onto my VIC license and rego tho. I refuse to assimilate fully into the land of the endless pothole.
  18. wow... thanks guys... i can feel the love Gonna borrow Kaz's sometime before Wed arvo as she's not far from my place (just worked out that its 3 left turns and a right turn). I'll see you all on Sunday morning for brekky tho. Hopefully with my newly registered car. Altho I just found out the engineer's cert I had expired not long ago and the engineer who issued it is in New Zealand atm lets hope they accept the older one.
  19. i didn't know they made the VG30DET ones that early. the only ones I can think of being made in 1988 (which is eligible to import still) was the VG20 one.
  20. done deal. I don't need it held down... just needs to look right. and you're in my area too... w00t w00t!
  21. Hey guys, the time has come to road reg my R32, so I need to find a stock airbox. It's roadworthy right now, but I'd rather not take any chances with the rego as I'm only in town till friday to do the rego and getting a second appointment could take forever. I just need an R32 GTSt airbox (apparently the GTS one dosen't line up properly but I could be wrong) for the rego check and I'll have it back to you as soon as I'm done. If anyone has one lying around I can come and pick it up anytime before Wednesday. Cheers, Shan

  23. I should be in town this sunday... and my R32 should be road regged by then. sounds good to me.
  24. yeah sorry guys, just got into melbourne yesterday for work... so I don't think I'll be able to collect the order from this group buy till later this week... so no reason why I shouldn't extend the deadline for putting orders in a little later. Those of you that have recieved PM's you can put the money in now, or hold onto it till the new deadline... totally up to you. I haven't receved any payments yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I get anything. If anyone needs their kits sooner, then please let me know, and I'll work something out for you guys. Till then, group buy extended till Sunday the 1st of October. Mr Void, the light comes to $31 incl GST. Let me know if you want it, and I'll add it to your order.
  25. you can import a Evo VII these days for under 30K on road including compliance, an early R33 GTSt will set you back 10k on the road... and that's under the regular SEVS import scheme, so it'll be cheaper as a race import. If you want give me a budget and minimal requirements and I'll fish out some potential race imports for ya. We just brought in an STi as a race import a couple of weeks ago... don't really list em up on the website unless something special comes up... like this R33 for example. We only look for race imports on request only as you can import nearly any car that is FIA approved (or permitted by CAMS in a motorsport they sanction).
