Now that name does sound familiar I will check it out for sure. Will definanltely make a point of seeing if they're on Shannons list & I wouldn't be surprised if it is. Cheers mate EDIT: Now I remember where I've heard of them Marky at ET's tied in with them & the drifting DUHH

Sounds good, will pay them a visit tomorrow since they're not far from work. With as far as the pods go, I've seen something of there being GTR style ones available. I've actually got GTR type side skirts (though only fibreglass at the moment) & would like to keep the look uniform so it'd be good if I could source some of these

Hi guys well as it was stated, today I was rear ended on my way to the gym from work. Crept forward a bit at an intersection (lights were out of action) before stopping again to give way & I got smacked up the back. I've had it on my list of things to do to get some pods for the rear & since it's gonna have to get fixed its time to get the pods done while I'm at it. Also may get a lip if my budget permits. Does anyone have some suggestions of where to go to get a deacent pair? Also don't want to go back to the repairer that I went to before (they screwed most of my boot trim as well as just generally not really giving a toss) ) & have a list of a few of the preferred repairers from my insurer (Shannons): S&L crash repairs (Tonsley) Welland crash repair (Welland) Glenelg Crash (Somerton Park) Cole Crash (City) Sitters & Fisher (City) If anyone has any opinions on these repairers or suggestions of other good repairers (I'll see if they are listed) it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

What Is Wrong With Adjustable Arms
J_Red33 replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
This is how I originally thought it should work, but according to this guy he reckoned they'd still move. This is coming from a guy that also reckoned rose-joints were ok to use for the road though. I don't really think I need fully adjustable arms for the street. So I'm thinking I'll just go check out a couple other workshops in town that know their stuff. Thanks for the info -
Yeah this is what I also had to do when I bought my car from Sydney, though I didn't have to go through regency as I lived further south. They have a special check station next to the Sturt cop shop. I had a turbo timer on it , that wasn't really hidden very well but wasn't noticed & some very illegal tinting (since been changed) which was simply noted that it didn't comply, never heard any more of it. They basically just check the plates & the engine number to see if everything matches, not much more than that.

What Is Wrong With Adjustable Arms
J_Red33 replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yes a locknut would surely help. Main reason I ask this is that I've also seen other bushes that have a thread through the tube. When you tighten the bolt up, it places pressure on the thread to help lock it in place. Not sure if there are any disadvantages with this set up however...... -

Interesting read this. I actually went to a suspention guy just over a week ago & he reckoned that rose joints wouldn't be too harsh for the road. Reading comments in here though seems to contradict that. 1 other thing he did say too was that the whiteline adjustable bushes rely on the pressure of the bolt head at the end of the tube to hold it in place & he reckoned they were prone to slipping. I don't know if this is true or not so a few comments & maybe pictures would be appreciated if anyone is willing to prove this wrong/right. -
The New Soft Brake Pedal Thread.
J_Red33 replied to Abo Bob's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
If the brace doesn't cure your initial mushyness you've probably got other problems or it's not pressing firm enough against the cylinder. I put a cusco brace on my R33 S2 (NO ABS) & when I first put it on I still had that mush at the top. All I did was tighten the brace up a bit more so it pushed a bit harder against the cylinder & the mush was as good as gone. I've done no other mods & the fluid hasn't been changed since I bought the car when it was complied, so it's due. My pads I think are also a fairly hard compound as after 18 months of driving I've still got roughly 10mm on the front (also a bit squealy when there's even mild surface rust on the disk). No doubt it will improve even more with some basic servicing. -
Better Tyres Or Wider Tyres?
J_Red33 replied to lastlineofdefence's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I'd have to agree with that Semi's are probably fine for the street 98% of the time, but the other 2% (Or maybe 1% at the moment with this drought) when you have some serious rain they would be downright dangerous. Best to go for something that's a bit more of an all rounder. -
Fuel Pump Control Module & Dropping Resistor
J_Red33 replied to J_Red33's topic in General Maintenance
Well since no one else seems to have found these components I finally took it upon myself today to find them. The first photo you see is of the back right corner of the cabin. The fuel pump control module is located in the U shaped bracket underneath the parcel shelf: This is a closer shot of it. Though you can't see it in this pic, it has a 4 wire connectio. Earth (Black), Power(Light blue), Pump negative (Grey) & control (Orange) wires. What wasn't immediately apparent however was that there were in fact 2 grey wires with the same marking coming from the fuel pump. These did turn out to be commonly connected. The second wire was traced around till I ended up on the passenger side of the boot (having pulled all the boot trim out) where the ballast resistor is located. This was bolted in above the car jack mounting bracket. You can see the ring mark on the hole it was bolted in on. What I found while I had all of this exposed was that the wiring to & from the dropping resistor is not good enough, with voltage drops across the wiring going to & from the resistor. The wiring for the dropping resistor is actually thinner than the FPCM, & why Nissan shortchanged on such an important piece of wiring I don' t know. I will now have to think about all the stuff I'll need for a proper fix to this, will post it up once I've got it soughted. -
Better Tyres Or Wider Tyres?
J_Red33 replied to lastlineofdefence's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
There are also multiple other reasons for tramlining. Lower profile tyres (not necessarily wider) will also be more prone to tramlining, due to there being less give in the sidewalls. If you don't have your pressures just right (too high or too low) tramlining will be an issue, not to mention incorrect tyre wear & poorer grip levels. Things like camber settings etc will also have an effect. I was having tramlining issues on the front of my R33 with 225/65 18's & found that if the pressures were much up above 36 I had major problems. I then dropped them to 32 & thought it was better, but it was still there & i started to find the outsides of the tyres were wearing a bit quicker than they should have been due to under inflation & I didn't have as much grip as I would like. I Now have them at 34 psi & there is virtually no tramlining at all, even on heavily rutted sections of road, & the grip & handing is greatly improved. I'm still to try them a tad higher & lower than this, but this seems to be around the optimum pressure for me. As far as upgrading the rims is concerned & going for cheaper tyres I'd also say forget it. If you're gonna put something like 265's on the back & can't spend at least $300 a corner on a set of Hankook K104's (The only tyre on the market in that size which seems to be an even blend of cost, performance & durability) then stick with the stockies for now, put good rubber on & start saving for next time. Check out what people say on the tyre thread too about different tyres. -

The main reason I got such a major power drop I think you will find is due to the fact I've still only got the little side mount intercooler & mine did put out the highest amount of power out of the 33's with the stockie. Many were actually pulling more power on their second run & they had a lot more at the wheels than me, somehow I don't think 177kw is enough to trouble their dyno & I do have some 265's on the back so pleanty of grip. Both runs were done simitaneously & when you look at my chart torque was dropping off the whole way through (it jumped up when it boost control went into high mode but started dropping off even quicker thereafter) so by the time the second run was carried out my intake temp at the plenum would have been nice & toasty. I'm sure if I get a beefy front mount fitted the readings will be much more consistent, not to mention higher. -
THIS LOW RPM ENGINE STALLING SAGA POSSIBLY SORTED
J_Red33 replied to BOOSTMEISTER's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Well your fuel consumption wouldn't be too flash I'm betting. Mine was up to something around 15L/100km, used to be more like 13. Haven't gone though a full tank yet so will be interested to see how much it has improved next week when I fill up again. The O2 sensor should help rather than hinder your tune. Sounds like it must be buggered. Spend the money & get a replacement, worth every cent. -
That's pretty good Darren, but I reckon maybe it would be better to omit things like the GTR/GTS symbols, otherwise there's always someone who feels they are missing out/don't belong.

Well I think this bit goes down as the most misinterpreted part: Police have previously expressed concern at the number of motorcyclists killed on the state's roads - 19 have died so far this year, a 35 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2005. Now this twit - like several others INCLUDING SAPOL - obviously has completely ignored the fact that there has suddenly been a massive increase in the number of motorcyclists on the roads in the last year due mainly to the whole petrol price issue. Also most of the accidents that I have heard about have all been in METROPOLITAN areas, NOT hills country. Combine that with the 4 weeks till you know you're done and the fact that you could have been pinged several more times in between the occurrence of the 1st offence & when you get the letter for it, & it becomes BLATANT revenue rasing.

Hmmm not sure if I'll make it now since it's my only sleep in (& I need 1). Will try to make it, but depends what happens saturday.

Steve didn't they say your car was leaning out? Or was that just Seans car? Maybe your fuel pump is on the way out or you need to start using 98 octane. Yeah I did notice Shaun was placing the sensor in the snorkel. Still surprised that my IT was 49, heat soak, a hot engine & maybe a bad fan position too is the only explanation I have. -

Hmm if this is so, then my actual reading was roughly 164kW before power correction, which is 6kw less again than even my second run came up with. Hmmm, would be interested to know what others were getting on their IT readings now. -

No I'm running the stock airbox actually, just with an APEXI panel filter. I must admit I was surprised that the reading was so high, though the fan could have actually been directing air around in the engine bay before heading into the CAI (I noticed the fan was completely missing the airbox as well as the intercooler), not to mention the whole car was hot from only just being driven & sitting out in the sun for 15 minutes. There was also clearly heat issues with the smic as it did drop 7kw on the second run (you could see on the graph the torque dropping off right through the rev range. even though the boost creeps up a bit), though I'd be curious to see what the IT temp was on the second run. Just out of curiousity how much power correction would you say there was Cubes? I do still very much agree with the dyno reading as acceleration at the top end for my car is far more explosive than it used to be with my old split dump (not as good a design & it cracked). Thanks for letting me in in the traffic this morning by the way DriftR_33, made it to work with only 1 minute spare thanks to the fire at Jaycar -
I was going to go that far, but decided to restrain myself. Fists of glory would only be the begining for those MOFO in the idea world Love that security system Madaz, I want one

Photoshoot would be wicked, need some more deacent pics, & would be good in a group.

If it doesn't do it on fast reply it's not gonna in word either. Not something that would happen in Word. It's an odd fault, I never used to have it, confusing. -
I'm glad I've got a deacent alarm/immpbiliser on my car now, never was happy with the old 1. I'm seriously thinking of adding additional hidden kill switches too so that if I leave it somewhere, no f*%ker is gonna have a chance cos they just won't know where to look. Maybe we should actually set a car up to be flogged with a tracking system & see where they actually take the thing to. Then when they get to the destination the real party starts with a 000 call......

I'd be interested, not sure if I've got a clash with a birthday yet. Always love go karting & would be good to meet a few more guys from on here

Well afraid to say your recollections aren't quite that good, you plan on going into politics? Sure the AT was only 25, but the IT was 49, so not extra cool even when I went on. And I was probably only about the 5th 1 on, with my engine still nice & hot, having gotten there only about 15 minutes earlier. Either way very pleased with 177.2kW considering I have no fmic yet. Oh & it was me you were talking to when Chops Calais hit the dyno, not Nozila I missed out too, was spewin'
