Bosch 044 Intank Installation
DennisRB30 replied to DennisRB30's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Cheers. There does not look like there is much of a size difference between the 044 and the 040 and 023 pumps. What is the main difference between the 044 and 023? The 023 says it pumps 168lph at 5 bar and the 044 pumps 102 at 6.5 bar. The 044 is rated at 200 at 5 bar. How do I compare these as the pressure ratings are different. How would they compare in real world performance? How many RWKW could these pumps each put out? I went for a 044 becuase I am sure it will be good enough for 10sec performance for when I upgrade the turbos on my 2JZ. What is the thing at the top of the 044, is that a non return valve or something? And do the other pumps have this? I think I can make the 044 fit if I remove that fitting. What do you think? I would still keep it in line though, just not in that position. -

Shit eh. What is an 023? I have heard of a 040 but not the 023, I have never seen it listed. Is the 040 smaller than the 044, or is it just the shape of the bottom of the pump? The main prob is the pump is so tall, I could probably make it fit and adapt the screen but I would have problems connecting the fuel line. What made you decide it was a definite no go? -

I have searched with no success. I know it is supposed to be used externally but apparently there are heaps of people that mount it in-tank as well. After asking around I got heaps of people saying its has been done. -
After asking around everyone said I should be able to make a 044 fit into my R31's fuel tank. So I bought one. The problem is it seems to tall to connect any fitting onto while still leaving room to connect the fuel line. And what fitting is supposed to join onto it anyway? Anyone got some pics?

Where can I get a decent pump? I was thinking of a 044. May as well go big. -
Possibly Ripped Off On Walbro
DennisRB30 replied to DennisRB30's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
GUESS WHAT! I threathend him with this Email, after another Email outlining that I found out he may be selling dodgy stuff and I found heaps of bad shit about him..... Well you must understand the reasons of my confusion. Why have you been banned from so many forums and listed as a bad trader? After searching your name all I got was BAD info on how you have ripped people off. Now if this is not true, don't get pissed at me, its just what I found on the internet, but when ALL the info I find is bad its is obviously a reason of concern for me. Plus the fact that your pump does not have any walbro makings on it at all and did not come with any walbro documentation makes me believe that it is a fake pump. I dont wan't my 2JZ engine to blow up becuase of your pump. I have contacted TI and if they can't verify its a real non factory second I will have to ask for a full refund due to false advertising and contact the relevant authorities. Dennis. He prompty gave my money back in fear of me destoying his E bay rep. He is GONE of ebay, after I finish my feed back and link to this site everyone will know who he is. He was so worried he gave my money back before I had even sent the crap pump back. I still have it. What should I do with it? Burn it? -
Possibly Ripped Off On Walbro
DennisRB30 replied to DennisRB30's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Thanks, at first I tried to search but I could not find a relevant thread. -
I got a walbro off Ebay from Known Nickname(s): Mines_Datsun, LaL, REDFC, Doridori32, Milk, blitz-gtr, Cefiro_PWA, crazy-sil80, pump^KING^007, turbo33 Names Used: Alex Kantarovski (Real name), "Petar", Alex Kantar, John Travison, Martin Wish I saw this first. So whats the go with this guy? Are the pumps dodgy?
-
Well I have one that I use just for burnouts it a TE 250 with 4 speed, stock besides locked diff and extractors. It smokes it up in 4th with both wheels spinning on a burnout pad, I reckon that would be a tough ask even for a GTSt. The series 2 VN had a inlet modification in the form of a ram tube in the plenum. This made the car idle better and created less "wheel spin for worried soccer mums of the line" That said my mate has a S1 VN without this tube and I still beat him every time I have raced him. It is actually a performance mod to remove this tube in a S2 VN.
-
Yeah, many people reckon that an auto VN would normaly beat a near stock 5 speed R31. Its probably true. The humble VN is (as much as I hate to say it) probably one of the fastest non performance cars you can get. Mine has no trouble winningfor some reason. Not every time, but the vast majority. I think a 15.9 backs it up though. Maybe its just my driving style and dodgy homestyle mods? I don't belive in stop watch figures but somewhere in the high 7's is what I thought I got when I done it. A more reliable way might be if someone enters my 15.9 and trap speed of 138 km/h into a racing calculator, those calculators normal work well. On the day I went to willowbank all stockish V6 VN autos ran mid 16's and the best I saw a 5 speed ute run was a 16.2. (dispite the manual being quoted as doing a 15.7 which is pretty damn good for a dunger family car) And as for the new commodore, (nelson voice) HA HA. (end nelson). What a dunger. MY brother said he went cruising in his mates supercharged VT V6 calais, and it got beaten by heaps of auto VNs. So I agree with the newer heavier slower rule for commodores. You would have to be pissed of to have bought one of these new commos. Does anyone know what the 400M times are for the new ones?
-
Yes RB30 sounds shit, I have to put up with the crap sound every day. Does putting on a 25 head make them sound more like the other engines? Or with it still sound more like a 30 than a 25?
-
15.1 That is amazing. Poeple on other forums are laughing at anyone who say thier R31 can beat a stock auto VN commodore.
-
All this is makeing my 15.9 R31 sound pretty quick in terms of NA skylines. Who would have thought the least sportiest of the skylines could be one of the fastest.

VL Turbo's so how do they stack Up!

Up the corty! I used to own a TE 2L. That thing went hard for a 4cyl. I could keep up with VN's etc in first gear (then they would fly past). I could flog 202 commodores and 253 kingswoods though. I even beat a few auto 200 6cyl cortinas. It actually kept up with my R31 in first. It was a bit of a hole shot hero (compring shitboxes that it) It could do awesome burnouts too. Perfect first car I reckon. -

Thats pretty crap when my old R31 can do 15.9 -
My R31 RB30E runs a 15.9 at 138km p/h. It is stock besides cat back exhaust.
-
Thanks man. Thats the sort of info I was after.
-
Sounds about the same econ as a standard RB30E. I don't think you would need to port head for a 13.9, I'm sure the standard cams are tiny and some big ones would make a huge power gain. They would probably cost a mint though. Are you from/or visit redcliffe sometimes? I have seen a wagon that looks very similar to yours around there a few times.
-
Thanks again.... I'm now deciding if I should spend on my R31 or just buy a better car, ala R33 or twin turbo soarer.
-
Cheers I'm from brisbane though. I would be happy to pay 1.5K for a good one with a manual. I will have to see who does it here.
-
Thanks geordie, how much extra is a manual half cut? I read that whole RB30 thread ages ago, and I know about the oil galleries. But I recal something comming up about the VVT not being better... something about the the VVT only making up for lost power from smaller cams nissan used for emmisions.... Can anyone clarify this? Sounds like VVT head with non VVT cams would be the go. Don, I just looked at you pics. That is one sweet sleeper. What is the economy like on the beast? Do you think an LSD and some cams would bring you a 13?
-
That is awesome guys. Don, 14.7 is sweet. I just bought my second R31, its a nice SER3 with dud engine so I got it cheap (its is the shed, im working on it then will sell my SER1 once its done). I have pulled the auto and engine, I have a manual for it so it will still have the 3.9 diff gears. My mates said it would be a waste of time do go RB30DE, but if I can cut 14's I will be very happy. Since I need to install a new engine I may aswell go RB30DE. What is the going price for a full running RB25DE with computer etc? What is better VCT or non VCT?
-
mmm, but he probably didn't get the quality bearings and rod bolts?
-
"buy getting the rods prepped first ie shot peened, linished, resized ends What would that typically cost?
