We have been getting lots of inlet and exhaust manifolds extrusion honed, match ported and doing before and after flow bench tests. The ones of interest for you guys are obviously the RB20-5 and RB26. All testing is performed on a $36,000 flow bench. It is digital and logs results and very accurate. It assimilates what happens in engine although is not an exact as hard to recreate 25 psi or more, although it is a very good indicator and probably the best available in Australia. All tests are performed at 25 inches of water. The RB26 exhaust manifolds require a bit of match porting and as expected the middle runner is the worst and stock flowed 138.2cfm, after extrusion hone 159.9, then with match porting 167.4cfm. We also got more flow from the outside runners and after honing they are all in better balance as we port and extrude hone the middle ones more. This is quite a gain and less turbulence and restriction by smoothing out coarse casting on inside of manifold and removing the edge of the flanges to stop gases hitting and causing turbulence. Bottom line less heat more flow, more horsepower. RB20-25 info not handy as we did this a while ago. All I can say is the factory inlet plenum is very ordinary as there is a huge variation from the middle two runners the throttle body aims at and the outer ones. This is why we tune those runners richer with Microtech or Power FC.

BFG Drag Radials-experiences/thoughts?
Boosted Zed replied to MS-75's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
By the way my best 60 foot was the last one I did and 1.59 then crunched 2nd gear bad and pulled out. If I kept it together would have been a 10.7 or 10.6. Always a next time. Ran out of fuel and night and thrown out until roll cage. Not bad for a rear wheel drive only boat. 4WD even better they say? -
Boat will eat your old old girl, but ten out of ten for your cheaky confidence. At least I know you are not just beer talk.
-
Could get down there one day although more likely to go to Qld. Waiting for my custom trailer to be finished. The boat is getting pumped even more. Found the valves were badly worn from too much boost and not enough valve spring pressure even though the springs were twice factoryspec. Now have Supertech .5mm oversized valves. Found Arias chrome rings not best for high temp and boost as they wore out, so going 40 thou oversized Ross pistons with full steel rings gas nitrided and proven in big boost drag cars. All cryogenic treated. Changing turbo's from S15 to Disco potato GT28RS 440hp each. Getting the exh housings high temp HPC coated and if have time will get comp housings extrusion honed. Should make 450rwkw with if anything a little more lag which won't hurt it. Might even get semi slicks on to keep things more honnest hey FATZ?

Drag Combat is back for 2005!

The only thing that goes faster than a recovered stollen car back to the Police station is a Ferrari rental in Mau Hawaii. Testorosa's do great burn outs, even better than Dodge Vipers. I would think there is a clause in he contract here in Australia re race tracks, at least there will be soon I suspect. Sounds like this years Drag Combat is going to be bigger than last year. I know at least there will be a zed at this one. -

I always need a hit although the slot car has engine out and getting full cage put in and won't be ready for a few months and ready for when it is not so hot either. -

Fatz. Put your beer down and Drag, Drift and Circuit is the go although Circuit overall is the most fun and best challenge. Circuit you can get to do all three at the one event. All good fun though. -

Driving like a girl is better than just talking about it. PS I called in to see Theo last week up in sunnyville and saw his beast, on the hoist at least. Things are really gearing up for a big year of motorsport. I will be hitting it hard and doing lots more to the slot car so come on and hav ur go and get off the fence, it is too crowded. -

I only drive like a girl on the straight line thing, at least I did until 2rismo showed me how to punish the car with a good burnout and then Mr Heli showed me to giv it more revs on the take off. I drive better at circuit will smack you at that. PS Theo you on deck 17th and 18th Jan as I might come say hi and see what you are doing as I will be in Brissy? -

Who knows what is actually going to happen with so many confusing dates. Did you call Auto Salon Theo or was it one of your 4 X bandits tell you?. Would be good to line up with you at the Sydney one? Waiting....... -

All clear now I went to Autosalon website and has 29 May on the Drag Combat section. They also had a date round one 14th Feb which is a Monday. I called and spoke to them and they said this was a bad link or somthing as it is last years event. So 2rismo you are right only one event NO FEB EVENT, confirmed with Drag Combat organiser direct. Too hot that time of year they say. So straight to the main event with Wrecked head hey. Is know FATS will be there. :ddd: -

If Wrecked head turns up that is, but then I guess anyone can drive in a straight line to some extent he he. Re the dates I spoke with Andrew 321GO who used to work for us but now at Turbo Smart, he told me he confirmed the dates prior to going to print with their calender. I went to the WSID site but could not seem to find any dates for this event. How does one check who is runing this event? As we and I know many of our customers are planning on attending and will make a big difference to plans if dates are wrong. :Bang: -
