  1. Get the problem tuned out... I run Z32's, HKS 2530's with Blitz blow off valves (non recirculating) and only occasionally have a problem loading it up in 5th gear going up a hill. It was bad, but the tuner somehow managed to get rid of most of it (I know this is also true for people who have had the same problems and had it tuned at other tuners).

My car pings its ass off on anything but Ultimate and Synergy 8000... not sure why, as Vortex 98 is meant to be pretty good but my car flatly refuses and starts making the knock meter dance when I used it Good thing mines been off the road for the whole no Ultimate saga... it is back at Chisholm BP though in decent quantities On that note though, once all my fuel lines are replaced with the non standard rubber crap, I will be running Optimax Extreme only... have been seeing some damned good results with it.
  3. How they have been built? An engine that revs that high isnt cheap to build... last time I checked, a Formula Atlantic engine was around the $20,000 - $25,000 mark.
  4. He cant buy a REV search certificate if the car is under finance and there is money oweing on it... the certificate is only for if REVS returns no results. When I bought my car, the seller showed me the outstanding contracts for the finances on the car and the outstanding balance. I gave the seller a bank cheque made to the finance company, and cash in hand for the extra (only a few hundred $$).
  5. Thats correct... if the car is dodgy it can be repossessed off you, even though you paid good money for it, and you wont get a cent back. When you do a REVS check, if it comes up clear, you can buy insurance through REVS to guard against it... but obviously you cant in this situation as it has shown some problems. Just cross check the VIN against the registration details (build year, model, colour etc). If it all checks out it should be ok, but I would definately double check with this AUVIS mob. Search for it in google.
  6. Possible reasons for identity mismatch include illegal rebirthing. Definately go over the car with a fine tooth comb. Theres no problem buying a car thats still under finance... just make the check out to the finance company not the seller, so you know the debt will be repaid. Thats what I did with mine
  7. The engine to start with is a 4AGE and is replaced with another 4AGE. You can actually buy the engine they used in the cartoon, it was used in a racing series called Formula Atlantic.

Im not too sure on the technical side of things when removing the quench areas, but I did go for a ride in a JUN 2.7L/T51R-SPL kitted R32 GTR the other day which has had the quench areas completely removed. The car drive beautifully on and off boost (and pulled like a friggen freight train as it would on 1.5 bar!), and the workshop that built it (arguably the biggest in Australia) always remove the quench area on their JUN stroker motors if big boost is going to be used. I sent you a PM about all of this the other day Greg, but am going to pop in to see you this week

  12. I was going to say give Greg at proengines a call about shims, he reshimmed my head and it was a pain in the ass but he got it spot on, with no bullshit. He has posted above me though, so thats obviously where he got the shims from
  13. From everything I have read on these forums, those settings work well for the RB26, but the best overall gains on the RB25 using poncams are on 0/0. From what you have described it sounds like a timing problem, take it back to the mechanic and make sure everything was installed correctly and check the timing with a timing light. RB25 should be 15 degrees btdc at idle.
  14. It shouldnt lose that much power on 0 degrees (I think the poncams work best on 0 in the RB25 if im not mistaken). If its a timing problem then its one of two things... either the cam gears were not installed correctly, or the camshafts were not installed correctly (well theres a third, being the crank angle sensor wasnt hooked back up correctly... check and make sure its at 15 degrees base timing).

  17. R33 GTR wasnt released till 1995 (the GTST was in 1993)... the R32 GTR was still in production through 1994. The last 94 models had the longer crank drive, all R33 and R34's have it as well (GTR's that is).

  20. I actually got approached by these guys about 4 weeks ago out the front of J-Racing. White van, interstate plates, two early to mid 20s guys inside trying to sell me home theatre setups used in clubs/bars etc. Didnt buy them, didnt bother reporting it to the cops as I didnt catch the number plate... yeah.

  22. Ed did Ewens which is a HKS kit and its beautiful... mounts perfectly up, pipework fits without scrubbing on everything and how it should. Doesnt cost too much either... take him a Hybrid kit and he will swear at you for days though jokes

  25. Hi, Just curious if anyone knows where to pick up exhaust manifolds to suit T04 style turbo? Having difficulty finding one and dont want to custom make it. Thanks
