If you want to just 'make a number' then bolt on a second hand diesel turbo.
-
Might be that your GTR needs a tune. Mine if left in 2wd will fog the 255's when planted in 1st. In 4wd it loses no traction and thats a big reason why it leaves rwd cars for dust even to 100. Limiter launch FTW!

Nah it's because my camry's got a gtr badge

Hang on there. My GTR doesn't have neons or a dose pipe. It's a skyline but, it's not "ricey". Rice is what you have once you desend into the realm of it. The pointless noise and looks dept. Be proud either way I say. If you are ricey then just be there Rice is Serious Business

wait a minute though guys. These are the "Masters of Power". Seriously. Do you want a 'good turbo' or one thats just going to make a number? If you have the money widen your choices to better gear. Certainly weigh up good value options but, remember aspects like turbos totally dictate the cars characteristics.

If you like the sound of Harpo Marx sneezing or the amplified noise of a mouse being squashed, I'm sure they sound real good to you. These noises are in no way associated with any kind of 'power' experience. If you like repeditive 'pachoo' and squeaking noises then Fisher Price has a great range of electronic musical toys on offer this christmas. I reckon they should make them sound like farts at least then they have better comedy value. My kids (incuding the 3yr old) now point at cars and say 'ricer!' when they hear these.

Jjr Just Jap Hyperflow Exhaust! Good System?
rev210 replied to lukeybaby's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The JJR split dump front pipes I have encountered are poorly made and required grinding. It's cheap though. Maybe just get the cat back part? -
Fastest 1/4 Mile Unopened Rb26 In Australia ?
rev210 replied to Butters's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I know it's not in Australia but, Manny Cruz's 7 second stock block powered Sentra drag car sets a bit of a bench mark for RB Stock blockers. Back in 2005 -
Your pod is unshielded? If so I guarentee lower power for you. Unfortunately, actual results are things not 'felt' but, measured. Get a heat shield on and it should sort it out though. Blocking the stock BOV is the ultimate " look at me" rice-ness all the same.

Relatively speaking they are 'slow' off the line as they are a little harder to hook up with the torque of the V8 (great for burnouts though). You are having some issues getting off the line there. I mean the GTR you are driving really badly mate to get beaten to 100 like that. I would suggest that you are a super granny driver, no offence intended. I am also assuming that by 'changing lanes' you are reffering to a private race track?

The filter change does very little at all to total power. So with that in mind probably just change it when it's needed to something like a highflow panel filter drop in. Doing the pod filter really requires a cold air box or it's a complete waste of time. As an example, the bunky GTR I have presently came with HKS pods. These are well designed and have bellmouth inlets inside. However, I needed to make a cold air partition. I used a camping foam mat I had lying around. Around town driving on a 28deg ambient day the inlet temp without a heat shield gets to 58deg C. With the shield on the same drive the inlet temp is 42deg C. Under speed and load the intercooler is working more efficiently and rids itself of heat soak, however there is still a good 10deg C difference. The difference in intake temp is 10deg C lower at the inlet temp sensor. This represents a significant power increase over the unshielded pods. If I had a factory airbox this would be the case also, just if you start with one it's alot cheaper to get the result.

welcome to the forum. People have given some excellent advice to you so far regarding the stock BOV. Don't mess with it. Leave it on.

The standard units are very good. They may develop some leaking issues due to old age and grime ingress. Clean them and they work 99% of the time. For very high boost you can perform some simple mods to them (gtst BOV) . GTR units are absolutely fantastic. But, if you need to go 'Pachoo pachoo' noise I guess you have to change the stocker. I'm sure most people now equate that noise with peice of crap cars with no go (99% of ricey slow street cars opt for this noise) I know I do. So I'm not sure about the attraction, your car is more likely to encounter minor tune issues and go slower, there is no increase in performance EVER over a stock unit in good nik. As mentioned there is most likely a small leak somewhere. No gasket is a dead set leak fest.

One of my old cars ran 13.2 with about 170rwkw RB20 powered R32 gtst. Old R33 was 13.3 @106mph both stock turbo.

China Intake Pipe Kit For Your Gtr - A Review.
rev210 replied to rev210's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
got the standard pipes back on now. Paul from performance-wise has offered a full refund on the kit. He has corresponded with the factory and believes that the kit isn't designed to work with R32 GTR's. When you look at the actual design intention closely. I have to say that it's wrong before it even starts. The Y tube is not really smoothed off inside the way its put together. I think there is a strong possibillity that you would go backwards in power with it. There isn't much thought behind the design at all. But, then again it's real cheap. The air filters are made of chrome plastic and on the inside there are cast plastic dags that look like they may break off at some stage and go straight into the compressor setcion. And unlike say the HKS poison mushrooms I have they don't have a bell mouth inside the pod. I notice that all the people who have put them on have had issues with both fitment and tune issues. I would say that there is still plenty of work to do to make this a kit worth trying. -
China Intake Pipe Kit For Your Gtr - A Review.
rev210 replied to rev210's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
damn I knew I wasn't drunk enough aaand I was using taiwanese china-copy spanners. They aren't made of easy break copper with chrome spray paint. Doh! mlr, I hear what you are saying, the thing that hasn't evolved in china fabrication is quality control. It's too hard to throw out the production line rejects when some westerner can be stitched up for a dud or two. They don't care because life is cheap and short. Paul at Performance-Wise has been right onto this issue for me so I'm sure the outcome will be fair. -

No it's the twin turbo intake pipe replacement. I am pretty sure this kit was a dud, perhaps a one off bad one. -
