  1. don't buy a gtr if your are poor. don't buy a performance car if you are poor. don't modify a peformance car if you are poor. The GTR is worth every dollar of the thousands it costs to keep on the road every year, they are so much fun. A pretty stock one even quite old manages low 12's when driven with aggression. don't buy one if you are poor, no matter how cheap they are initially. I see too many young guys get burnt.
  2. Try using a translator for your english. What you just typed doesn't make sense. Also avoid typing in bold letters.
  3. Hi Abo Bob, The silver one is priced right. I think I remember the yellow one used to be blue (haltech etc), it was for sale at a higher amount ($80k), a year or so ago if it's the same car.Not to mention and it was a 5 litre too from memory. I would be inclined to ping an email asking if the car used to be blue and if it's a factory TVR 5.0. You need to be very careful when buying a TVR interstate as there are several Monarch ones. No big deal if you are buying from your own state and you live in a state where you don't need to go over the pits for rego every year (like WA). But, if you need to re-register a car from an interstate purchase then it's a probelm. The only cars to look at are the personal import pommy ones. Unfortunately the places the Monarch ones are common are WA and SA, like I said no big deal if you live there but, if you live in NSW or Vic then it may prove a problem? Arkon, The TVR's are very fast, at 1000kg, they have space frame chassis and the base model 4.0 cerbera does this to the average pack of super cars. There is a higher power 4.2 and 5.0 version too.
  4. R32 GTR's have a raised bonnet at the back from factory, just remove the rubber seal.
  5. A nitrous kit a a few other things to get power down (tyres) will be under $5k all up in part cost. It may or may not run the 10 in the short number of passes it will run before something important is broken into little peices. I say invest the $5k for a few years and get more money. Actually if you only have $5k in funds you can't afford to own a stock second hand GTR and race it. Second hand import GTRs cost an average of $2-3k per year to keep from being put off the road, if you drive it every day. The first few years usually break the unsuspecting hence they are frequently bought and sold, even on this forum.
  6. Seen that car around a fair bit. You do get what you pay for with the TVR's , the engines aren't the best thing about them. A full service history and nothing less is what I'd be asking for. This one looks better; http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/TVR/CH...es/2238580.aspx or this one if he wants something with very few kms and performance upgrades; http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/TVR/CH.../csn393250.aspx TVR's aren't cars you go buying on the 'budget' as they say.
  7. the bolts that hold the cam bearings, they aren't designed for re-use and can break during or even after install. Plenty of people re-use them and of those a small number suffer broken cams and or bolts and if really unlucky a buggered motor.
  8. I'd go grab some new bolts, retainers if the motor is going to be seeing big rpm regularly and the usual gasket kit. Oh and you might need a few shims once you measure it all up.
  9. yeeeeeehaaaaaaaw! Where's the carton of beer on the back?
  10. The improvement isn't big if at all. Unless it's to rectify a spark issue in a big power application. There are other ways to skin a cat if thats the case.
  11. 170rwkw got low 13's with crap 60ft. No need to strip weight, if the power is genuine although it will help if you can remove enough of it. If you can be stuffed why not? No ones says you have to have a back seat and subwoofer box when you race, just as no one says you have to run without octane booster. Have fun.
  12. I appreciate show and shine cars. I think your power goal is not really important if you would just like a car to look great and perhaps a little unique. Forget the whole power thing for now and focus on what you like. Go for the show car look for sure , you tend to find you will get sick of the dirt and stone chips if its a daily driver though. A HSV and a GT are both a fair whack heavier than your car so having the same power isn't comparable. Probably there is your answer. Have heaps of fun doing the car to show spec , look forward to seeing it in a magazine soon.
  13. for the record 300rwkw as a goal in itself for no other reason is stupid. This thread is largely a pretty dumb one as a result. anDru, What do you want the car to do? Think of some performance capabillities for the car then work towards them. Be it a 1/4 mile time , circuit , drift or combination. Obviously if it's going to be driven on the road you need to keep that in mind too. Maybe look at the whole setup and explain the goals you have overall, this will yeild reccomendations that will set you on the path to success in whatever pursuit the car is going to be put to.
  14. The oil supply to the head on RBs is over the top and causes the bottom end to wait too long for it's share to get back down from the head. An external return feed in the back of the head to speed return of oil and restrictors to the head help prevent this potential for spun bearings at high rpm.
  15. Dyno won't tell you too much about that on a stockish car. Compression test will give you a basic picture of engine health. Otherwise there isn't any more or less potential in your car compared to any other healthy R33 gtst. You can chirp the tyres in plenty of slow gutless cars provided the tyres and suspension are crap enough. Not much of a bragging right.
  16. looks very normal. there is a range of dyno figures that covers 'normal'. Bottom line is you aren't going to win any dyno competitions with a stockish gtst, if thats the goal. Use the dyno as a tuning tool only to avoid needless bulldust sessions. Then again the forums might not exsist if that happened?
  17. Thats an excellent porting job. The guys who do this well have a very good eye. I can see how symetrical the porting is, it is still a process that involves an artists skill. My porting work in the past looks like a pre-schoolers effort by comparison.
  18. Word travels fast about the skill of your hand picked peck of pickers, I heard rumours they have surgically implanted special fingernails? None the less I'm sold on the skill of the work, no other dry cleaners in this town do such fine picking and scraping. I believe one of the workers has a snot sculpture on display at Guggenhiem Museum?
  19. dry cleaners are just experts at removing stains by using their fingernails, usually a skill honed over years of carefull nose picking. Remember that kid in primary school who could pick out boogers that seemed to go on forever.... a Dry Cleaner. Don't get me started about steam cleaners.
  20. EVL R33, It's possible to have a low trap speed for the time if you didn't need to push the car to obtain it (car is capable of much faster times). I'd say given the slow terminal this thing has perhaps a mid 9 in it, with all things being somewhat equal.
  21. I don't know if I'd be too game to wrap a cast iron manifold, are you planning to race it (track)? There is a slight possibillity that if the wrap isn't even enough you will end up with uneven heat causing warping or cracking. Just be very carefull, or buy a rabbits foot.
  22. Ha Ha Well Done BOBBO! I remember giving you a lift in my old GTR on a cruise before you had a licence , 3-4 years ago, and I seem to recall you telling me then you were going to get a 10 second GTR as your daily driver
  23. They are not laggy at all. They reduce lag over the factory cams significantly and increase power everywhere.
  24. poncams work on stock GTR turbos very well for the record (260 9mm lift)
  25. no problem dude. Let us know how the setup goes.
