Hey Paul, sorry I didn't even notice the questions down the bottom as I was focused on the table. I have a few pics of the setup when it was off the car, I'll see what I can find, I'll try and take some in the next few nights. As for the turbo, it is actually a Hks3037pro S (internal gate) but the gate hase been welded closed and it now runs an external gate, but like I said ill try and get some pics in the coming days. Cheers Ryan

Hahaha remember in my 1st post how I said I have already chatted with some people............well yeah he MAY have been one of them . Anyway, thanks for all the information so far guys. Basically what I really want to do is gather as much information from all the reputable engine builders in Vic, along with all the info I can gather from the forum and compile an outline of what I want for my rebuild as I know some places do things differently to others. The way I see it, I'll be able to "filter" out the necessary and unnecessary parts of the build and come to the best possible conclusion on what I do and do not need if that makes sense to you guys (it did in my head)

Hey mate, have u called around and asked about back loading your car? We did it for a mate of mine with his ceffee, only problem is that you would need to find a place where you aren't required to hold an account. When we did it we used the joint that my dads business deals with so we got good rates, best bet is to call around and ask about back loading. Alternately have you looked at wacking it on a train? They run to Sydney then up to Brisbane, I have no idea about this, but just some food for thought.

If you have a catback, just get a front/dump pipe combo from just jap, batmbl (BOS importing) or flyin and then a highflow or race cat. Exhausts aren’t supposed to be pretty, if you got a new one, it would resemble your old one within a year anyway. Put together a cheap system and then with the money you save get a front mount If you cant put it on yourself, throw me some cash for petrol and a large crispy strips meal and I'd be more than willing to help (provided I'm free from work etc at that time)

Hey guys and gals of SAU, well if you have seen my thread with the recent results on the dyno then you may also be aware I want to build an engine to maximise the potential of my turbo setup as well as give me some peace of mind when I hit the loud pedal and when I take it for a thrash at the track. Basically I'm after any information, experiences, knowledge or recommendations you guys have for me as I’ll readily admit I don’t know much about places to go, hence I need your help. I have chatted with a few workshops but I would like to hear some non bias (ok well probably more like LESS bias) opinions and recommendations from you guys. To keep the peace, I’m not going to mention who I have and haven’t chatted too as I don’t want this to turn into a workshop war thread, nor do I want to play favourites. If you have anything negative could you please PM me as I am still interested, however I am well and truly opposed to slandering others names in the public forum. Cheers Ryan

So I'm guessing that boost was when you cranked it up to 21 psi then? Do you have a copy of you 14 psi run? I would be interested to see how the midrange behaved when the boost was turned up. A 12 secound pass is by no means slow for an rb20. On a totally different note, do you have many problems with you highmount setup and the screamer on the street? I originally wanted 2 go stealth lowmount, but like I said, when this package came along it was too good to refuse. Also, how is your Greddy manifold holding up? When I was having a chat to the guys at Rank Rotary the other day they said that because its such thin stainless it wouldn't last long, have you had any issues?
-
Mate, I've gotta hand it to you, that is by far the most impressive curve for an rb20 I have EVER seen, and by no means is a td06 a small turbo. I have never actually heard the full specs of your engine, does it run cams, who tunes it? Have you run it down the 1/4 on that boost? Geese I'm speechless, i have a mate with a td06s on a 25, and his got a very similar curves to that
-
So whose td06 is it anyway Paul? Funny thing is I was actually on the market for one (even contemplated getting yours Roy) but when this came up, and for the price I got it for, I couldn't refuse. When I saw the setup in person I was amazed, the turbo was almost brand new, it still had all the balancing marks on it and razor sharp edges. As for the power, remember that it drops 1 psi across the rev range in that dyno, yes I know it doesn't sound like much but when you look at that on 14 psi it was making a shade under 255 rwkw, and then at 16 (trailing off to 15 in the higher revs) it jumps to 280rwkw. Now to get the SAU VIC membership and start hitting the track! khunjeng that result is by far the most impressive for a high flow I’ve ever seen! What brand is it? I’ve only ever seen two high flows perform that well, one was a GCG owned by a guy on here, umm I think his name was devilfish or something with fish in it, and I once saw a massive AVO high flow do that. Bring on the forged engine!!! (and ensuing poverty)
-
Hey Paul, thanks for that comparison, its nice to actually have a solid evidence of my progress. As for traction, through 1st its non existant, 2nd it hooks up at about 5 grand and just takes off from there. Admittedly, my suspension is set up for drift with stiff zeal coilovers all round (cant remember the rates off the top of my head). The best thing about all of this is the satisfaction I get from driveing something I built. Milan: The car didnt even hit knock levels at 16psi which is all it ever sees now that I've sorted the boost control and it carries nice afrs throughout the rev range. On here its a pretty normal occurance to see rb25s running 300rwkw throughthe likes of gt30/40's and 35/40's on stock internals. But I still dont like running it internally stock, hence why I'll be getting an engine built within the coming months and then aiming for spot on 300rwkw (around 20 psi should see me there). Im just thinking to stick with the 25, or go 25/30 and a bigger exhaust housing, any suggestions?
-
Yeah its a handfull on the road, at full noise 1st and a fair bit of 2nd gear are useless when hard shifting. It's made the car soo easy to slide now, on the straight, just clutch and then throw it a little and then balance the car with the throttle, my mate in his 2535 powered 33 cant keep up with me when we do slalems now, REVENGE!!! As for the CAMS, I'm looking into purchasing a built motor off a guy on here, it comes with stage 1 HKS cams. Otherwise I'm going the build my own. That power was made on only 16 psi, but it drops 1 psi over the graph as the boost controller wasnt fully worked out, but I've since sorted that, so theoretically it should have actually made a smidgen more power. Although its a drift car, it still can make for some quick runs on the streets, I dispatched a worked V8 torana today on the way home from work, only 2 have the guy say how awesome the gate sounded, AN ENGINE NOTE COMPLIMENT FROM A V8 OWNER!!!! WTF!?!??!
-
Yeah mate I'm rediculously happy with the outcome, I was thinking more like mid 260 rwkw region, which is around what it makes on low boost! It's an absolute DREAM on the street (well as much of a dream as that power can be). As for the engine, yeah its bog stock internally but I'm looking to get one built in the near future not so much for power, but more for piece of mind as i dont want to go melting an engine.
-
Well I just picked my car up from RE the other day after a tune and I am extremely impressed with the results and thought I'd share them with my fellow SAUers, aswell as get any thoughts or comments. A big thanks goes out to Ray, I'm sure his more than sick of hearing my voice now. I can't reccomend him highly enough, I'm over the moon with the result, everybody who rides in my car can't believe how responsive it is for a 280 rwkw car. Now to build a new motor so I can ram more boost down it's throat without worrying about melting it. Mods are: Apexi PowerFC HKS 3037 (.68 exhaust housing) Trust highmount manifold HKS 50mm external gate Deatchwerks 550cc injectors Bosch 040 3 inch straight through exhaust Hybrid FMIC Q45 AFM Splitfire coils

Hey guys, whoa you work fast! Well the light flashed sporadically, and at a fast rate. DAMMIT! I was hoping it wasnt knock as I mulled over it last night but given what you just said Guilt I think its knock. Im running 550cc injectors and a Q45 AFM so there shouldnt be any issues there. I actually dont have a hand controller for the PFC as I got it as a reiculously cheap price (before they ended) minus HC. Iv been looking at getting one but I was addressing othe areas of the car before hand as i heard they went that necessary. Thanks for the quick help boys, if you have any more advice just shoot away, last thing i want to do is melt an engine. Cheers, Ryan

Hey guys, Well I just got my car back from RE Customs the other day and its making 280 rwkw on 16 psi (I run it on 14 daily). Last night I decided to try my high boost. the car takes off and then gate opens blah blah blah, BUT then as its getting to around 4 to 5 grand (was too busy focusing on the road) I notice the engine light flicks on and off, the flicking was similar to what happens when a light has a loose connection and whenever it moves, for that split second the connection is good again it lights up then dies again. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s a loose connection, imp just wondering what may be hurting my car. the car is stock internally with all the usual mods to support a bigger turbo (management, fuel system, exhaust, intake, afm etc) so I thought id come to the brains trust and see if you guys have any thoughts on it. Cheers, Ryan

Swap R33 Rollcage For Wheels
ardie replied to Mick's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)

you need to cut a hole under your washer bottle to runt the pipeing. its not that hard, just use a 3 inch holesaw or an angle grinder, then get measurements for the intake pipe leading to the plenum and get your local exhaust shop to knock something up for you
-
Hmmmmpfff laziness really shouldn’t be rewarded but sure, I googled it just then and here you go, also got the info for advanced in case you didn’t have it: Ajax Motor Wheels Pty Ltd Cnr Exley Drv & Ewar St Moorabbin VIC 3189 phone: (03) 95557737 Advanced Alloy Wheel Repairs 20 Kilpa Rd Moorabbin VIC 3189 phone: (03) 95556893, 018 543 428 also i have a mate who had his welded up by an engineering joint, no idea who it was, ill try ask him for you, otherwise you could give a few of them a call (specialzed automotive engineers of course)
-
ajax in Moorabbin rolled my works for me when i hit a gutter trying 2 avoid a commodore driver attempting to answer his phone while simultaneously going through a round about without so much as looking at the other lanes. i have one of their cards sitting in my car, but its at re customs atmm just google them if your interested. honestly, they were a fair back of grumps when i went there, but aslong as they fixed the massive dint in my rim (aswell as a few others on the other lip they didnt charge for) i dont really care, priceing was alright too
