when you say "blowing spark plugs" what do you mean? is the car simply misfiring? if so then i'd say that it isn't a spark plug issue but an ignition issue, such as coils or ignitor (most likely coils). even if the plugs are getting burnt out, etc, then i'd still put it down to being an ignition issue rather than an issue with the plugs.

yeah it sounds like it has an aftermarket fuel pump that is sitting up a bit high. having said that, if done well, an aftermarket pump should be able to still operate until the fuel light comes on. other possibility is that his fuel gauge isn't accurate and is reading higher than what it should, but he could rule that out by simply taking note of how many litres he puts in when the issue occurs. but my money is still on it being an aftermarket pump

Could It Be A 5 Speed Automatic Gear Box In An R33..
mad082 replied to XY33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
sounds about right. -
maybe the ferrari engineers are fans of phineas and ferb....

what are your power goals? might be cheaper to simply get a nistune daughterboard.

krystalll, this forum has been around for many years. you aren't the first person to want to know about ecus. a quick search (even just searching "nistune") would've found you hundreds of results. in reply to your first post though, a better option that the r32 ecu is the z32 300zx ecu. it requires about 4 wires to be swapped around but allows you to retainthe VCT.

that sensor is just for the dash. you can do without it, but might as well just leave it. as for not holding boost with the sensor broken, it would need to have the hose completely removed to even see the boost alter at all, but in most cases all that would happen is the car would run a bit richer. the stock gauge may appear to be losing pressure if it is damaged though.

i've never been pulled over in noosa since i've been working there (12 months), but then i only drive in noosa for a few mins each day, and i drive a commodore. but i do understand why the cops on the sunny coast pick on imports a bit. 95% of the ones i see go past work aren't exactly taking it easy. seen a few playing 'racey chasey' and thinking they are in a drift competition. probably has something to do with all the round abouts (in noosa at least).

skyline ecu's can't be tuned that easily. r32 and some r34 ecus can have a daughter board installed which can be tuned. (r33's have to use a z32 ecu or a r32 ecu, but will lose the VCT with the r32 ecu). as for always getting a gain from a tune, if he has an aftermarket ecu and the tune is decent then there won't really be any gains.

yeah the white one that was posted by sav man looked shit hot. chrome has been done

given that it is pretty much just a bluebird, it could've had a sr20 conversion done to it.

small chance you have water somewhere it shouldn't be. won't have much to do with having the coil cover off. there is the chance that the fuel pump isn't operating properly, so it is priming, but not supplying enough fuel. it may also be the AFM. try unplugging the AFM and trying to start it. from memory the car won't idle with the AFM unplugged, but you can keep the car running by using the throttle. if you unplug the AFM and it does the same thing, then try plugging it back in and start the car and see if you can keep the car running with the throttle.

yeah i don't think that RBR will have lost much pace, but if the others have found some pace then i think they better get him some happy pills. if by some chance he was out qualified by the mclarens and ferraris in melbourne then i bet we will see objects being thrown, and if webber beats him as well then they better keep him away from sharp objects, lol. i'd then put money on webber suffering another poor start in the race.

isn't piratebay in the process of getting shut down?

do a bit of reading on the forum. this has been covered thousands of times over the many years this forum has been around. as for mods, it depends on what you want out of the car, and how much you want to spend. you could wind the boost up a bit, put a front mount intercooler on. if you want to spend a bit more money you could get an aftermarket ecu, turbo (which would then need bigger injectors and possibly AFM and fuel pump, depending on how big you went).

anyone else thinking/hoping that vettel will slit his wrists if the RBR cars are off the pace at the first few rounds?

you need to "break the bead", which is usually done with a press (if you have access to a welder you can make one, or you can even make one out of wood, but it won't work as well and may break). then it's a case of using tyre levers to get them off. it's not that hard. then you use tyre levers and a rubber mallet to get them back on, but you run the risk of scratching the rims. or you can pay a tyre shop to do it.

but how will the cop be able to distinguish between a good driver and a hoon with an illegally modified/unsafe car unless they pull them over? that's the main point here. as long as cops keep pulling over imports and their suspicions are justified then they will keep pulling over imports. not to mention that there are certain times of the day where a large portion of the people driving around aimlessly are probably going to break the road rules by either speeding, doing burnouts or race other cars. mainly the people who go driving around late at night, doing laps past the nightclub areas, etc. while your end goal is sound, the way you want to get there is the wrong way IMHO. as i said in my previous post. you need to start with changing the car enthusiast community before you change the general community. you can't expect the general community to look at us differently when they can look around and see plenty of poor examples around them. a better way to start would be for car clubs to take a no tolerance stance on members with illegal mods and poor driving behaviour. that way at least the car clubs can start to get a better reputation in the community. possibly even being in contact with authorities to name and shame members who get caught hooning.

What Cams Are These? Are They Std?
mad082 replied to TrikkBen's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
there may not be any brand stamping on them. what makes you think they may not be the stock cams? -
sorry, missed the IF in your post.

Why Is Nissan Doing This To Me! :(
mad082 replied to Ethan R34's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah from what i understand it's an extremely common way to pull dents out that can't be accessed from the inside of the panel. -

i think the only way to find out if they are standard would be to go off any markings on the cams that may provide a part number or brand. other than that you would need to pull them out and measure the lift and duration. very few people will be able to tell you whether they are stock or not simply by looking at the pictures, since the difference in size will be a matter of fractions of a millimetre. -

i have to agree with central coast person on this one. i've been working in retail for over 10 years now and we constantly get told that stuff will be available at a certain time, but it rarely is. i pre-ordered something through my business for the missus. was supposed to be landing in the country in mid august. it was late november before it finally got here. i kept getting updated ETA dates from the supplier but they just came and went. i knew it wasn't their fault because the info they were getting was telling them that it was on it's way, but the shipment would arrive and the stock wasn't there. and this wasn't just something they were getting purely for me. this was new season stock, so there was a container full of them coming. on the subject of your car though, is there no way that the panel can be repaired? if it is the sill that is damaged, is there no way for the panel shop to pull the panel straight? i slid of the side of a dirt road in my falcon and dented the lower door sill. the panel beaters i showed (and the one who fixed it) simple welded something onto the sill, attached a slide hammer and pulled the dent out. then they just smoothed it off and painted it. -
you will find that all stock new cars will meet the noise restrictions. harleys are motorbikes so they have slightly different regulations, but you will also find that pretty much every harley on the road has an aftermarket exhaust. and i'm sure that if import owners were all bikies then they wouldn't get given EPA notices much either. back to the original topic though, while i think the idea is good, and something needs to be done, it isn't just import owners who get pulled over and their cars checked. you will get it in any sort of car if it looks like they might get a result from it. the other thing is that there will always be some minority that will screw it up for the rest. take the person/people killed in the crash in victoria the other day. high speed crash while trying to run from the cops. what sort of car was it? it was an r34. now i'm sorry for their family and friends, but the driver of that car just gave the police and general population yet another reason to hate imports and young drivers. and i hate to say it, but i agree with them. i'm seeing more and more P plate drivers acting like complete twats on the road. i also see plenty of imports being driven stupidly as well. now i'm no saint, i drove like a dick when i had my r33 and my 180sx. but i also never pretended i was a saint. i was always waiting to get caught and fisted by the long arm of the law and i would've accepted it knowing that i deserved it. my general point is that if the car enthusiast community wants to stop getting so much negative treatment from police and the media, it isn't a case of trying to get the police to leave us alone. it is a case of trying to get the idiots off the road, and making all our cars legal. stop given the police a reason to pick on us and they will back off. you won't get the police setting up a defect station outside a seniors only event because they know it will be a waste of time. you will get them setting up a defect station down the road from something like jamboree since they know they will get a heap of cars with illegal mods and unsafe cars (bald tyres, etc). car clubs need to show that they are working with police to get members to have cars that meet the laws. no point just having a sook to the media saying "it's not fair. sure we have cars with illegal mods, but the cops shouldn't pick on us for it. we ain't done nuffing wrong"

dude, you need to mow your lawn. and i don't know why you are that concerned about people knowing the location of your car given that it is parked in plain view, plus where i see it parked on a regular basis (assuming it's where you work). if it was going to get stolen i'm sure it would've been done a long time ago. if you were worried about it, kick old mates crappy old 180sx out of the garage, LOL.
