  1. yes NA skylines are slow. not much more to say than that, lol
  2. you would need to get 10% better economy running the v power to break even. most i've even seen in my many tests running different fuels is about 5%. certainly not enough to warrant running the more expensive fuels.
  3. there is no difference between mild steel and stainless as far as performance goes. there will be a slight sound difference though. stainless will be a bit louder. i'd go the mild steel.
  4. i would hazard a guess that very few people take their car to a mechanic/workshop and say "could you service and tune my car". they would say "my car needs a XX,XXXkm service" and that's it. very few people would know when the plugs would need changing, or anything about gapping them or checking/adjusting the base timing. if they did then they would ask for that to be done specifically rather than asking for it to be tuned. and yeah, people would say that their car needs a tune up, rather than a tune, as this is generally said when their car isn't running 100%.
  5. the rb25 ecu is very picky when it comes to airflow, so there is a very good chance it will pack up it's bat and ball and go home when trying to run the 26. also the rb26 runs individual throttle bodies, not a single like the 25, so you would have to see if the 26 works with the 25ecu (even if you have to wire a different plug on the loom). you also have to hope that the knock sensors are the same.
  6. +1 for private sale. then you get to test drive the car first and check it out in the flesh.
  7. pics of SSS (and are you on the pulsar forums? i am, but don't go on there much)
  8. generally the 80-120kmh acceleration is done in 5th gear, so it isn't quite an accurate of how fast they are. if you were do drop down to 2nd or 3rd gear then yes, the porsche would eat the mazda. that said, the difference between the porsche and the mazda is only 0.2 of a second (3.5 vs 3.7). a lot of it comes down to gearing as well as torque range. the r35 gtr does it in something like 4.5 to 4.8 seconds and the fpv turbo 6 will do it somewhere between 2.6 and 2.9 seconds.
  9. get your bike licence then get a 400cc registerable dirt bike. will easily do the speed limit without having to scream its tits off.
  10. if you want chains just go to your local boat shop, or even a fishing shop. you can get some pretty decent size chains (anchor chain, they sell it by the metre and it's cheap), and they are usually glavanised so sweat shouldn't be an issue rusting them, LOL.
  11. just occured to me that you haven't mentioned what series r33 you have. the reason i say this is that the series 1 had an external ignitor (series 2 have it built into the coils) and these often start to have issues once they come up to temperature in the same way that coils will. so if you have a series 1 and taping up the coils (or putting silicon on them) doesn't change things then i'd try and get your hands on a replacement ignitor pack
  12. your mechanic seems to be pretty right. with the tie rod end, i have a feeling the the base rubber is part of the TRE and not a seperate part that can be replaced (i could be wrong though). as for the oil leaking, there are 2 common places for oil leaks in skylines. 1st is the power steering, which you say you've checked. the 2nd is the rocker/cam covers.
  13. if they do make this car it won't be a supercar in the same way that the veyron, zonda, etc is. it will be more like the ferrari FXX (not road registerable). they'd have a hell of a time trying to get something like that to pass emissions testing.
  14. i do.... yeah. i think that it used to be boring before DRS because you'd have someone be able to catch the car in front easily, but the moment they got close they couldn't get past because once they got into the slipstream of the car in front they lost a heap of downforce on the corners and couldn't get past very easily. so it wasn't that the car in front had to defend super hard, just being in front of the other car was enough to slow them down. for me, all the DRS does is allow faster cars to get past slower cars. if the car being overtaken was fast enough then they should still be within 1 second by the time they get to the DRS zone the next lap so they could have a crack at getting the position back. a lot of the time this isn't the case though. so often the fast closing car gets past and then disappears off into the distance.
  15. you probably could run a 26 with all the 25 electrics (other than injectors) but you would need an aftermarket ecu of some description to take care of the bigger injectors and the extra airflow.
  16. only way it could get to 100kmh in under 1 second would be if it's running drag tyres.
  17. how does someone crash a hyundai excel? usually a mix of not paying attention and running out of talent. in the case of the mechanic in the ferrari, the story says the car was on original (20 or so years old) tyres. they would be rock hard and have bugger all grip. might as well be driving in the rain on slicks
  18. Is alonso on soft tyres? He's not really getting awau from webber. And webber will still have a good supply of softs at the end of the race
  19. Vettel is burning through tyres though. Depends on how he goes once on the harder compound. Nice incar of the safety car
  20. Hamo crashes!!
  21. Webber probably has trouble getting off the line at the start because his massive balls get in the way. How good was that pass? Best I've seen in a while
  22. you can get that sort of power out of the stock turbo on a 25 with just an ecu (and a shortened turbo life). if you are willing to run the gauntlet you can get up to around 220kw on the stock turbo at about 16 or 17psi through the stock turbo.
  23. so in other words, it much closer to a GTS-t than GTR. all it really shares with the GTR is the ATESSA system, pretty much everything else is GTS-t spec.
  24. 1 million or maybe you could ask in the forced induction (turbo) section rather than the natro (non turbo) section...........
