with tyre changers at every drift event there is hardly a need for spare rims. i haver always been a super organised and taken like 6 pairs of rims and rairly do i need them. i dont think i have ever run out of tyres at the track. also drifting on brand new rubber helps this as well. the rubber is cheap for us drift boys so take advantage of it i say.

they are 60mm bodies. they wont fit in the center console.

this gets the new ball rolling along the lines of what the mods would like. I've been thinking about logo's and shit for SAU Tas. I thought the best way to do it would be for a heap of people to submit designes, then in say a month open a poll with all the submitted logo's and decide a winner as a group. I have attached logos for all the clubs (I couldn't find any for NT or ACT). They are there so we don't end up copying any of them. Probably will be best if each logo has a verstion to work on light backgrounds, and a version to work on dark backgrounds. I know there is a few graphic designers in the community, start posting your designs in this thread. i hope the turbosmart gate works as they have a horrid reputation for failing. althoe i havent heard any bad things about the latest gen. hows the nerves going leading upto Supernap with a fresh setup?
-
will you money back garente they work? ive got this style of gauge and love them. oil temp and pressure would be grate and egt for spares.
-
^^^^^^ this is a basic race RB thing that has been around for years. like daniel said it helps.
-
i can hook people up with used race tyres for realistic prices. 235x45x17 and 265x35?x18 have a look at bens build thread if you want to learn what barsky can do to your oil system. we have datalogged race cars and found oil pressure drops to zero under heavy braking. whist under braking the engine isnt under load so it wont destroy a bearing straight up but we have found after a season it will ruin a bearing or 2.

what turbo are you running?

Ok this mite be a bit of a read so take your time. i like this idea a lot. thanks toffy for bring it up. my thoughts on this are: Cams affiliation is a waste of time and money. if you get a club big enough to get Cams affiliation it will take massive structure un like any of us would want to put in. if the club got Cams affiliation, to get MST (race track owners) affiliation cost thousands of dollars. so its not just as easy as filling out one form saying we want to be a car club and we want discounted rates and be affiliated with all these organisations. whist all motorsport clubs in tas are deemed to be non-profit they have a large amount of bank money and are run just like a business as they have to deal with normal businesses as in MST and CAMS ect ect. to run a track event of any kind requires neumerous documents to be made and sent here there and every where. i takes one person a lot of hours and corespondance to make 1 event happen. example, to run a normal club day needs to start about 8 weeks out from the event requesting things like Police permit. track permission. cams permisson and all these bits of paper work have to come and go in a particular order to make the event work. after the event there needs to be follow up paper and book work. i know all this because my GF and i sat on a Motorsports commity for over 3 years meeting once a month min. the club we were in had a qualified accountant to run the books because its serious business. im not trying to blow my own horn but with Ben purtells help i got the club i was in running all the norther drift events for tasmania. at the time he had aproched 2 other clubs and they had blew him off. with a fair bit of work we got it off the ground but it was far to much effort for the result so needless to say the club pulled out after 2 years and the rest is history. to back that up. drifting tasmania is a motorsports club but they run under the HSCC banner because it simply isnt feasable to make a new club at the moment. i think group entry for the motorsport events we already have is the best way to continue doing motorsport. i think if we started a club and wanted to, say get more hill climbs the best aproch would be to join an existing club as a board member and then work hard within the club to get the events that our SAU club wants up and running. whist SAV MAN has complained about the club he is a member of i know he has never helped that club run an event. he has helped with the running of targa and being a flagy thoe. so what that means is its people power that makes these events work. i prpbably sound a bit arogant in saying this but id profer to have a club full of enthusists rather than people that are going to come along for 5 mins, use knolage and time then bugger off to the next fad. dont get me wrong new people are good but how about getting a good baisis then if people want to be part of the group they will come to the club rather than the club looking for members. im all for helping people learn about skylines and teaching them what i know but i dont like wasting time with people that arent interested. the big step that a few of you guys have started by having these "SAU" track days is grate and its good to see somthing moving forward. the best part of this is that because its a very casual entry level thing there will be new people coming to every event. the one thing that is needed is the encouragement to get the drivers off the hill and onto the track. this is the one thing i think a SAU club should be about. helping people get into motorsport and inturn helping them prepare and mainatin their cars. like Trustr32 said we all have frinds that dont circulate on here so im sure we could get a huge base anyway so what really does everyone want. i want a fresh new motorsport/ skyline enthusist club with a small signature (sticker) to show me other people in the club. there is enough show car/cruise/meet up groups around that anyone can take there pic so why not be somthing a bit different.
-
your other altenative is to join light car club of tas who are a launceston group. they have the same MST affiliation as hobart sporting car club so you get the same discounted track entry. to join them you simply need to go to KT electronics at the 5 ways kingsmeadows and see them. there membership is only $50 i think.
-
you need a damo jack handle roll. thats how we got 295s under stock gtst guards.
-
when ever you like. just send me a pm and arange a time. they are on my race car and only 5 mins to pull off. ive also found boost to be cheaper than GT for general tunes and nistunes.
-
people go every where over tas to get stuff done because of one reason or another. all you have to do is ask. ive been dealing with brad for years now and i didnt even know he dealt with nistune untill a few months ago. i guess you never know unless you ask. brad has had a lot of experiance tuning all kinds of ecus. he profers Haltechs much like fueltech like vipecs. every place has there profered. at then end of the day the ecu is there to adjust parameters of the engine and how effiently it does this is all that matters. Ecus like wolf and microtech have half as many load points to adjust these that is why they are not viewed to be as good. plenty of people still use them thoe.
-
Arrr that is way to hard to read. which dyno tuner dont you trust?
-
hey mate. you are oviously new to this but there is more than one place to get a haltech or motec instaled around tas and for quite varying fees. a bit of experiance has shown me that dealing with one good workshop for all work is by far the best way to get the most out of a car and enjoyment. all tuners will tune any car off the street but they are unlikely to put 100% into the job. if the workshop does all the mechanical work to a car they will then know that the engine is in sound condition, or maybe a bit tire,. also that all parts have been installed correctly thus allowing them to put a bit of back ground knolage into the performance of the car. if you was planing on getting workshop a to do all the work then decided to get workshop b to finish it all off do you think workshop a is gooing to put its extra bit of effort into the job. if you want what workshop b does then maybe consider getting it all done by them. in your case workshop a has already lead you down the wrong track so whats to say they are doing anything wright. this is only assumed from the info given by you. every one on here is right in saying that a nistune will give you by far the best bang for buck at this stage. but non of them have pointed the out possibly the cheapest and best place to get one. you just have to look around a bit. what ever you do dont get Motec's new budget plug in ecu. it is rubbish and hard to use compared to the likes of vipec and haltech i would only ever run a Motec if i was running a top top end race car. they just arent user friendly enough for amature racing. haltech, vipec, link most of these will do 100% of what any amature needs. you seemed to listn to the advice from before so hopefully you will have a bit of a think about your next step to.
-
yes running the same size front and back is handy for track use so you can rotate tyres ect throught out the day but its actually all about looking cool. haha. i doubt you will get 285s on the front with stock guards regardless. is there a reason you want 285s? most people look for a common size used by other forms of motorsport so second hand track tyres can easily be brought.
-
please dont get the same size/ offset all around. Gts skylines look a million times better with more dish in the rear and a more agressive stance at the rear. if you look throught the r33 pics thread i think you will find that trend working wonders. the silver r33 looks balls in my opinion. the front rims look bigger at the front and look to stick out of the guards makeing the reas look undersize. but it is your car do as you please. i got my seccond pair through boost. grate blokes to deal with. there is a bloke in the build section that has got some tuff rims fitting a stag. i think 10s will look good. or atleast the dish will. your welcome to try mine on for sizing. they are 18x10 +22 also a 235 18 doesnt look to bad on 10s. we run them on about 3 different cars so im kind of used to the look. good tyres like fedderal can be had for a very resonable price if you ask the right questions

i think they are called Crimp nuts. atleast thats what i ask for when i got to my local nucts and bolts. they are the ducks nuts for keeping turbos on. -
this bloke got it pretty right i think. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/318381-18x10-18x9-lenso-d1rs-for-quick-sale/page__p__5227029__hl__lenso+d1r+r33__fromsearch__1#entry5227029 i have these wheels. ive been very happy with them. i personly havent had any issues with them. i can get them for a good price if SPG cant help you. just be carfull when your ordering them that you specify the size. plenty of people have been tracking and drifting on these rims.
