nah havnt had the engine rebuilt. Im pretty sure it was little bits of dirt and grit. Was only very small but i know thats still enough to scores the bores. Who knows, the previous owner in japan probably ran it without an air filter. cheers

Fill it up with expoy glue of some type? wont move around, by at the same time, its never coming off. failing that, sell it and buy one designed for your car.

Hey guys, Changed my oil on the weekend and when i was pouring the used oil back into a container, a sandy grit was present on the bottom of the container the oil drained into when i emptied it from the car. Where would this have come from? Im guessing its the dodgy stainless mesh pod filter that came on my car letting crap into the engine. I was horrified when i saw the grit in the oil. Has this happened to anyone else? Im thinking about getting a new pod filter now, i was looking on justjap.com at one of the apexi power intakes. Is this a good choice to go with? thanks for any help. cheers

I'm keen to upgrade my suspension so my car grips the road well. What gain would i have on using these castor rods? Will they make my car grip the road better then the standard unit? what exactly do they adjust? If they will make my hanlding better ill buy a set for sure. cheers

Hey guys, I have a 1996 r33 gt-st and sometimes when im chaning down gears at low speed when i back off the car kinda jerks as if there is some play in the drive shaft, i dont know whether its got something to do with my suspension set up (tein coil overs) or something being a bit loose in the drive train. I know its kind of hard to understand. Also, sometimes when i change gears slowly driving a clunking noise comes from the diff, could this be considered a problem with the diff? Im under no allusions that my car has probably had a very hard life before i got to it but slowly im replacing parts to make it new again. cheers for any help.

Also, when you remove your coil coils blow around your spark plugs with an air gun before removing them. If you dont, little bits of dirt and grit will fall into the combustion chambers. cheers

My air con has the air con removed though. And the belt that drives the compressor is also removed. Hm.... suppose it just another *weird* noise to add to the pile of other weird noises that come out of it from time to time....

hhhm.... This is coming from the engine intself though. Might very well being the exhaust bending and carrying on. Does the sound ever come from the engine bay on yours? cheers

Hey all, I have a 1996 r33 gt-st turbo. I have 3" cat back exhaust, FMIC, plumb back BOV and thats about it for engine mods. Recently more and more i have been noticing knocking and clunking noises when i turn the car off.... The engine doesnt make any weird knocking noises when its idling but as the engine shut downs it goes clunk.. clunk. Kinda goes like this "bbbbbbbrrrrrrrooooommm......CLUNK CLUNK" It doesnt make these noises when i turn the car on? Haha more and more im realise just how much a punishing this car has copped before i got to own it. *sigh* Any ideas as to what it could be? cheers

bleh i thought it would be something along those lines, woulda just a regular motor mechanic be able to do it or would it be a specialist job?

well i had my 100k service done today so im guessing they woulda of tightened the entire pump up, meh maybe its just the little wheel pulley thing being abit loose, the engine is 10 years old after all. anyways just wondering if it would cause any damage.

as above my power steering pulley wobbles around while the car is running, will this cause any problems in the long run and is there a way i can tension it or something? cheers

uecalyptus oil? acetone? etc etc all dont work? tried rubbing it warm water + salt with a soft cloth, thats how i get water stains off my fish tank glass.

oh ok well my car doesnt have air con anyway, the condensor was removed when the guy imported it. ohwell one ill get round to fitting a new one. so this all sounds normal? the level has gone down abit already. cheers

oh ok so it will just flow back in by itself? it freaked me out abit cos i have never seen it that high, i did however give it a good punishing on the way home from work then i was stopped in some heavy traffic. also, my r33 came with only the engine fan, did 33's come stock with another thermo fan? im gonna get the coolant changed when i get my service done and give it a flush and see how it goes.

hey guys, as above my coolant over flow bottle is almost at the max line, i swear it wasnt that full the other day. does this mean my car is over heating? also, does this mean i should do a coolant flush and put new stuff in? im getting it done aswell as the water pump when i get my 100k service. how do you empty the coolant overflow bottle? hehe sorry for the noob questions. my car is a 1996 r33 gt-st cheers also my car does NOT have a fan shroud, would this be causing the fan to not cool the radiator as much as it should?

Nah didnt put sleeves in them and yes they are bright, WAAAYY better then the standard bulbs, i can actually see the speed im doing now at night. i changed my park lights over to the philips blue vision but it didnt really make a differece, the light that comes out is still yellow looking, well they might look different at night anyhow. i bought a little 4 LED bulb to replace the interior, it looks way nicer but is abit dimmer then the original, but if i need to read ill use the map lights. now to replacing the bulbs behind the climate control......

What about the interior light and the map lights? is there a replacement available for those that make a white/blue light? i fudging hate that crappy yellow light the stocko ones make! cheers

ahhh i recently put some blue vision bulbs behind my tacho, speedo etc so ill buy some tommorow and swap them over, cheers
