  1. thanks guys for your opinion's! From what ive read there is downsides to the GT-R as well as the GTS-T GT-R You need very deep pockets just to keep on the road! but just about the only bad thing and maybe getting parts for as the arnt as common as for the GTS-T performance wise it's nothing like the GT-R, Well when you think about it, it's a supercar! Yes you can do the GTS-T to perform the same as the GT-R or even better! But the only thing that would stop most GTS-T owner's from have purchased a GT-R instead is more importantly the MONEY but some of you might like the GTS-T better which is all up to opinon! The only way you could pick is throw someone that has never driven both and see what they like and what they dont!
  2. Sorry! cubes 99% of GTST's are owned by pimple faced teenages with maybe a tune and 200rwkw. Im sorry but im gunna have to dissagree with that statement! Not all Gtst owners are pimple faced teenages which I think is a very bad stereotype and makes me sick Ive owned my r33 gtst for 4 years and I class my self as a enthusist! we look after our cars with pride of owning one! and alot of my mates that have r32's, 33s and even a r31 are aswell we go to local meeting, trackdays etc and to think that we have been looked down upon makes me even sicker! so each time you see a gts remember it's only a pimple faced teenager driving!
  3. Just something I found bet many of u's have read this before. GT-R owner's need deep pockets! A couple of my friends have been asking me about buying a gtr recently. Having just sold one perhaps im not the right person to ask I quite liked the R33 vspec but the cost of modifcation and maintence seemed a bit much. More importantly im just not into awd cars but it's the cost of ownership that concerns my friends the most. As we're said before a cheap GTR isnt always a bargain. I know some people who make a good living out of fixing old GTR's. They recon that RB stands for run bearing since so many cars come in with knocking bottom ends. This is the most upsetting out come for a recent GTR buyer as there is no way out of the problem for less than $7,000. Just pulling the engine out and re fitting it will rack up $2,000 plus in labour, so swapping in a USED ENGINE WILL PROBABLY COST OVER $7,00O and leave you teriffied of another bearing problem. Simply rebuilding the engine with standard parts will cost at least as much, and of course most people end up fitting a set of forged pistons, after market sump and so on to try and avoid future problems. Hey presto, well over $10,000. Re sale value starts to become academic when your pouring this much into keeping the thing going . Frankly I was happy to get out og my 4 month GTR owner ship experience without losing money. I cant help thinking i'm one of the very few who have achieved this. The RB26 engine, particualry in R32 form, does have some inherint problems with the oil system, but as much as anything , the GTR is a victim of abuse.Dont go thinking that the japanese owner was some retiree who sold it because his golf ckubs didnt fit. GTR's are driven very hard by anyone who hops ion the drivers seat catching there keys and putting a gash in the upholstery on the way. This is why you should always avoid lending your car to friends. New owners also regualary under estimate how often oil changes are needed. If you drive fairkly gentley you should still change your oil every 5000K's. If you drive it hard, every 3000k's and if you take it to the track, change the oil the next day. Yes, this will become expensive, but go back to the second paragraph if you have trouble shelling out for fresh oil. Also note that the red line in an R32 starts at 7,500 RPM while the R33 redline is 8,000 RPM this is probably not just a coincedence. So far we've only mentioned the bearings, but there are many other items that can be expensive to fix in a GTR. One friend of mine recently bought an R32 and after adding up the cost of the things that needed replacing, he decided to sell it and look for a different one. It needed a rebuilt transfer case, a new clutch, new brake rotors and pads, new coil overs and new castor rods. It all seemed fine when he test drove it , but the quote to replace all of these things was over $10,000. Thats more then I payed to purchase any of my last 4 cars except for the GTR. GTR's are easy to want but not so easy to own. It's worth reading!
  4. do you have a internal wastegate? if u do!! you connect a line from the wategate to the com, you connect a line from no to a pressure source (intercooler piping etc) Let us know how you go
  5. hey dude better off taking it to a dyno and gettin it setup their should only cost 100 bucks just let him know what u want as hi and low! but yeah it should be in the manuali'll have a check for ya!
  6. it depends on power goals! power fc's are really good for getting the most out of your standard turbo, injectors etc and the haltech would be great for bigger injectors, turbp etc im sure the power fc would be good for this but you would be better off with a standalone ecu! all up to experience
  7. sounds exactly what mine does? do you warm up your car before you drive it?
  8. hey dude got them cheers dude! good feedback left
  9. he did install one but the hicas light wouldnt stay off and his steering was heavy all the time! So he out the standard one back it just plays up everynow and then nothing to do with the steering wheel as it was acting strange b4 he put the new one on! It's not the power steering fluid anything else to check?
  10. sorry dude cant give names but another thing that happen I had to fork out for the turbo coz the one he got was stuffed which I paid for! so he ripped me off there! it was like paying 8,500 for a car that I couldnt drive! Yeah Skit_R31 It's got the standard turbo and ecu it made it running 11 pound! but yeah im happy all you blokes got it cheap heaps cheaper plus I bet all your heater hoses were in right! he put mine in all kinked! also the price of motors have came down alot since 3 years ago! back then they wanted 3,900 for the motor now there cheap as! I would love to give a name but I dont think im aloud to I would just like to warn people about this guy thats all! he learns from your expense! lol the thermostat cost me $170 lol then does the timing wrong coz I could only run 4 pound and each time I would turn it up it just jolted and carried on so I took it to a place in sydney and he just chucked it on the dyno and just changed the timing only took him 30mins to get it goin right! this bloked thought it was one problem he then bought a part to fix it and just kept goin so it go's to show how much this guys know's bout imports! He does alot of work for other blokes imports! but I guess he only just changes their oil etc! like when I went to sell it the bloke that wanted to buy it took it 2 him to have a check up and he told him all the stuff that was wrong with it that he caused! oh well u learn from your mistakes
  11. dude get the jun they r very rare to see and i do admit are up their in looks like the top secret bar and the bar u have already got! pity to get rid of the kit u already have! u wanna sell those front indicators? lol
  12. dude if u want the jdm style get 18's but if ya bit tight go with 17's! in my opinon 18's are the best size for most imports they just suit the car more! you just dont wanna go over board with some 20's! remember guys it's just my opinon lol
  13. the greddy are the same piping as the arc arnt they?
  14. Hey dude, Maybe your fuel pump cut out? or maybe one of your intake piping came loose happen to me a while ago only it's a 33 gtst but it's funny it turned back on! Were u just out of fuel before you filled up? something in the fuel tank maybe when was the last time you changed your fuel filter? Just giving you some rough ideas
  15. if so in a drag the gtr would have a better start but how bout the finish would the rearwheel be anybetter than the 4wd system? I just read alot of junk mags and in one they said a rwdrive is superior at the high speed compared to the 4wd? Let us know your thoughts
  16. it does sound like a boost leak coz at high rpm it drops but if it was it would have given way and popped off hope u work it out! Try connecting a hose straight from the wastegate to the intercooler piping and see what it does then?
  17. Hey guys thanks for your replys yeah I actually did the conversion im just saying it's not worth it and was wondering if there was anyone out there that has choosen the same path I did? sorry to confuse u blokes I got it done about 2 and a half years ago It cost $3,900 for the conversion kit from ichibahn and $2000 for the labour and more for the timing belt, new oil etc that cost all up $8,500 Ive got 183.5rwkw on the na brakes lol! Ive just thought of leting all the ppl out there that are thinking about this please do not choose this path it is one of the worst money loses I have ever done! I know this may not be much to most ppl lol but Ive spent about 20,000 on this car to what it is now and it's still nothing like a gtst! this price isnt including the car when I bought it is was $17,000 dead stock 3 and a half years ago! It just go's to show how much imports have come down! It's just this mechanic he got me hooked in! he also knew I had money which didnt help! It's just a warning plus the rb20 gearbox's thats in them can handle the power! Sorry to bother u guys but just wanted to let everyone know my tradik sob story!
  18. Hey guys, Just need some help if anyone out there would know where to get some decent brakepads for a non turbo r33 ive looked everywhere, Ive found greenstuff but no one seems to like them im wanting to use it a bit on the track mainly street driven! Cheers chris
  19. Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone out their has done the expensive way of dropping a rb25det motor into their r33 gts non turbo? It was one of the worst ways I could do it in the end! cost me $8,500 for the conversion including the motor etc. Is there anyone out there? Ive still got the non turbo brakes, gearbox, diff etc was talked into doin it could have sold it and got one with the brakes etc
  20. How bout the upkeep on a gtr? Ive read in magazine's they are very expensive to keep and to look after? also if your motor go's your lookin at a 10,000 rebuild ofcourse with forgies! but do you need money even just to own one without modification?
