  1. I love the S13 but would prefer the S14/15. Bang for buck all the S cars are brilliant. However it sounds like you have your heart set on a GTR so just buy one. You can always sell it It seems like the only thing stopping you is your ego! Leave that at the door cause no matter what car you get there is always someone faster.
  2. Just watched the vid and on the second lap where you did a 1:40.2, your mid corner speed at turn 1 was 10km/h slower than the first lap (171 vs 181). You could have gone even quicker!
  3. They do look very old. How did they crack? Was it wear and tear/fatigue as in the case of the Rota's or was it a hit? You would need to know that if you are to use that as an argument.
  4. He said he went to Advans A050's and went 2.5 seconds a lap faster. What was he using before? Was he not using Advans despite the big logo planted on his race suit???
  5. If they hold another event like this, do you think it will attract the big teams to come back or other big teams to come along? Would they possibly hold it overseas to get more o/s interest? That blue 180 is a very well developed car. It sticks to the road amazingly well. Have heard the owner has been developing it for years. BUT I think he has us all fooled. Did anyone see the engine bay? It had bloody glitter paint on the plenum and rocker cover - he's a ricer
  6. Pic of the car looks great. Brakes got a good work out! Obviously a big difference between a slick and road tyre so did you do any testing with the road tyres prior to Superlap to understand how they would fare? The times most were doing were fantastic. Anything quicker than a 1:50 was genuinely considered quick but in this competition being competitive or more rather at the pointy end means something different entirely.
  7. They must of had another session cause as we left he was in second place. In any case, I think you'll agree he did really well in a Silvia amongst a sea of new 4WD vehicles.
  8. Jacky Yick in the 200SX did a great job of handing it to the Evo's and GTR's, what a brilliant effort. He is a pro driver though so he does have an advantage! Wayne Sutton in the 180SX also did a brilliant job. 1:40's in a 180 is amazingly quick. Overall, it was a great day. Alot to see and do, trade stands, car shows, drifting, motorbike tricks, stunt aeroplane, time attack and a few promo girls!! Hopefully a good advertisement for time attack that grows the sport. Well done to all involved. Oh and as much as the guy behind the mic may have been a pain, he was doing his job and keeping the crowd informed of what was happening off and on the track. Better than little to no information...
  9. Cant wait to get out there tomorrow. There are some crazy times being done by a lot of cars, Civic's in the 41's, 180SX in the 41's plus all the hi-po cars we expected. Hope ALL the cars get their stuff sorted - it's going to make for some awesome viewing.

  11. I was at Unique two weeks ago and John mentioned then that the car probably would not be ready. Its been advertised on the radio as Japan v America v Aussies... bit of a letdown that only 1 American car has made it.
  12. Good result. I take it your car was the white R33? Looked very stock (besides the front mount) so was a surprising result.

    Check Your Nuts

My red ones are also stuffed!!! I don't remember what brand they were but I bought them for $120 a set so definitely not the top shelf ones. Also bought some black ones from ebay, metal nuts that you tighten with the allen key. The centre of the nut rounded making some of them useless. I think its best to spend more front up and don't have to worry about it...
  14. Congrats to all for some very quick times. Well done Mark. 1:07.4 in a S13 Silvia is seriously quick! Get the video up asap!!
  15. Terribly sorry to hear mate. Glad you are OK which is the main thing. Sounds like you have your head screwed on correctly which is probably the reason why everyone is so keen to help you... In relation to the accident I know exactly what that looks like. I saw a friend do exactly just that whilst I was in the car behind following. Put two wheels on the grass, tried to get back onto the track and then lost it across the track, into the wall and wrote his car off. I had to get him out of the car, luckily he was OK as well. Point is your not the first person to make an error and you wont be the last. What is done is done, try and do whatever you can to get back out there and don't look back for too long. Easier said than done I appreciate, but you'll manage. Good luck.
  16. What happened to Leif? Obviously sounds like he smashed but how?
  17. Fantastic to hear that the 4WD system is sorted. Would have been extremely disappointing if it wasn't. I am absolutely perplexed Advan don't make a wider tyre than 265 in an 18" particularly when Dunlop and Bridgestone have 295 and 285 respectively. Now those sizes would be ideal........ Phunkey - that is a massive shame. I can imagine you want to 'kill' your engine builders and frankly I wouldn't blame you. What's the issue?
  18. Car sounds great, and looks great on the track. Was excellent to see something different and quick. Yeah mine is the S13 with the GT wing. My names John! Has quite a few mods. Makes 240rwk, stripped interior with Bonds 6 point cage, AP front brakes, Kei office coilovers, sway bars, Kuhmo V70A 245/40/17 all round etc etc I think I ended up doing a 1:09.1 on the XT lap timer, which is slower than my PB of 1:08.8. I was hoping to go quicker but that will have to wait till next time. Besides the overheating, the car was great! Was turning, stopping and really moving on corner exits as it was putting the power down really well. My driving was way off though, I never got into a groove. Took me a few sessions to get back into it. Was braking too early or turning in too early etc was hard to get going when you could only do a few laps at a time. Nonetheless, despite the excuses, I had a great day and that's what it is all about. Cant wait for the next one!
  19. Were there 2 Blacks Silvia's there? Are you referring to the Black S13 with GT wing? I was impressed with your car. You don't often see big power Supra's doing good times at the track. Have some details on the car? Was chasing for a few laps which was fun, I was surprised with how it went to be honest. Was a great day but I had overheating problems from the first session. Had the car inspected by Unigroup before I went out but it still overheated. Was only able to do 2-3 laps at a time before having to slow down, do some cool down laps and then go again. Was quite frustrating as it was hard to get into a rhythm and put laps goods together.

  21. How do the V70's compare to the RE55's?
  22. Name's John and its a black Silvia S13 - aiming for low 1:08's hoping for high 1:07's.
  23. Have just booked and paid for me and a friend of mine. See you there.
