How Do You Change The Brake Pads?
Appealing replied to IMPORTD's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Hey Kylie whenever you are changing pads and compressing the brake pistons in, just remember to get someone to watch the fluid level in the resevoir, as if it is full up and you do both without looking it can overflow. The level will rise as the calipers are pushed in. Brake fluid is not good for your engine bay! Also you can use the tiptronic (to change down) in the S2 to slow the car, or in an S1 change down, into 2. It does help a bit. -
Really Kylie, I think that you should keep your private moments private!!

Thanks Rob, but after checking the grill gap in my front bar it wont fit anyway.

Importing A Stagea - General Thoughts
Appealing replied to agent_felix's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Hi, I also adivse that you walk away from it. You need to know what this car really is before you shell out your hard earned money. I also saw the car about 6-8 months ago. This car is like most other doneup cars, nobody wants to really pay for the mods done. If it is a base model then that is all it is ever worth.... base model price. Plus a bit for the (now depreciated) add ons. Unless it comes with an engineers certificate, and fully documented work AND photos showing the car before and during the respray, it could also sell for less than a nice example of the base model. You have to ask yourself why it was done in the first place. the answer is usually the same: cos the guy couldn't afford the real deal. It would probably follow, that the conversion is back yard, along with everything else. save your dough. Find a nice one (at auction or here) and take your time to buy it. Nice ones aren't impossible to find but they do command a premium. Mine was a little under $25,000 (on road incl insurance). Very happy with it. Everything was done really well and probably in the first few months of it's life, (as the wheels have dates on them). -
Having owned unusual cars all my driving life (look up Consul Capri if you want to know). I find myself a bit surprised by the lack of knowledge about the Stagea. The looks though just dont stop coming. It's even funnier when you can hear people talking. I went to meet a mate at the pub and parked it outside. One guy was walking around it, saying "Dunno, dunno, says S, T, A, G, E, A", and of course he didn't know how to pronounce it.... he had a very quizzed look on his face. Then of course I got the keys out, we got in and drove off, with them still cranking their necks to find out. And this was only the first trip out!!

Gee you can't go anywhere!! err it does kinda stand out though eh! See you Sunday on the Cruze I hope.

So is everyone ready for Sunday? How about a last show of hands so that we know whether to wait or go. Also a definate meet time and depart time, so that we aren't hanging around too long. I'm definately coming with wife (Iolanda), 3yo, and 18yo son and girlfriend... (his not mine!). Oh and please try to stay on subject..... thanks

Japanese Stagea Service Manuals
Appealing replied to funkymonkey's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I would also like to get hold of a copy. -
It's very probably the AFM, could also be that it needs a clean, might be choked up with Jap soot. Sounds like you better get a japanese girlfriend quick, she can translate for you, (amongst other things)!

Hmmm..... loks real cool, good choice. You gotta another Prime Edition me thinks. Arrived the same day as mine. But I haven't taken any more photo's yet. I can say though I am really chuffed with our car, the overall condition is fantasic. Cost about the same as yours. 77,000km I am SURE they are original. The inside of the motor is like new!. We'll have to compare next weekend at the cruze. Well done mate.

And anyone wanting to bring them in privately, here is the DOTARS approved compliance centre link. Just check their schedule. Others will probably follow soon. http://raws.dotars.gov.au/rawswebpublic/RA...cipant_id=10161

Hi Guys I looked up the parts for the rear Aux lamp on Nissan Fast..... here's the screenshot, with the numbers made clearer, for you. Only way I know that you'll get these is to order through your local Nissan dealer spare parts. If you find they'll get them I'd be intersted in the price. I'll try to find the sun/moon roof visor. Hks Electronic Torque Split Controller
Appealing replied to tommyb's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
There is guy that advertises a similar device on ebay. Cost is about $120. Also there is a very good thread on this, with an extensive write-up by a guy with a GTR, it's worth reading. In this acticle he tells you how to make one. Both are adjustable and look like a good idea. -
Interstingly the cops are taught to pretension the belts when doing a chase. You suck your guts in and snatch on the belt at the same time, tightening it, and then locking it in place by letting your belly out, but not so that it is uncomfotable. Sure restricts your movement, give it a try, but not in the Stagea, as the pre-tensioners will do the job.

Just noticed that you're from WA, are you comming on the cruise, 11th Feb?
-
Hey Jippa, theres an s2 on ebay, pretty cheap BUT it would need some new front panels. Good buying for an S1 owner such as yourself looking for the upgrades. Check it out . Bidding starts at $4700.

11th Feb should actually work out well. I can take Iolanda out for our anniversary.... 6 years, ha ha. The Stagea arrives tomorrow, all I have to do now is get an escort onto Fremantle wharf!! Easier said than done. K-line didn't want to, Fremantle Port Authority didn't want to. I should be able to get on somehow. Can't get it licenced 'til Tuesday, but I can drool over it all weekend!! (and then clean it) YAHOOO..... expect more posts soon

Importing Or Buying Already Landed
Appealing replied to fly510's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Oh boy this subject has been covered so many times, (and I've only been a member for about 4 months)!! Importing will give you a better car at a cheaper price, but you have to have the dosh up front, (most of it) and be very patient, cos it takes 2 months to get a car here. There are many pit falls, but it can be rewarding. I'll tell you how rewarding next week when mine arrives. On the other side, buying one here will save you a lot of work. You can drive it first. (BIG plus). AND you can NEGOTIATE the price. Also you'll get it immediately. I would have gone down the "buy it here path", but I know that I still saved about $5000 - $10,000 importing myself. If you want to import, PM me and I'll tell you more..... much more. No, I am not a dealer. Yes there is a lot to be wary of! But most of it can be overcome. -
Welcome to the fray....... Good choice of car, (gee I would have to say that, wouldn't I). Very Informative site, Not sure about cruising with these Sydney blokes though..... I hear that they only get as far as Kings Cross!!

Wrecking C34 Stagea! Rb25det Auto Rs Four
Appealing replied to Nisswreck's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Hi Steve front (Unicorn) grill badge wanted, -Price please. John -
Just a word on Mobil 1. About 15 years ago I used to work for a Shell distributor. We had access to the laboratory, and did some test stuff now and again. We used to do it mainly for large truck fleets, so that they woudl know how the oils were lasting, and if they needed to change their service schedules. It woudl give the solids and other stuff in the oils and general break down of the oil, as well as a summary. I once put some Mobil 1 in for testing after 10,000km. The lab report was that the oil was as new, and didn't need changing. It convinced me. Only trouble is, keeping it in the engine, it sure finds it's way out easy. (It has low viscosity). As long as your gaskets are fine it's great but if you have a small leak with "normal" oil, expect a much bigger one with Mobil 1. Good shit though! Incidentally they also (Shell) once did a test on a Cummins Deisel, they stretched the servicing to about 25,000 km and ran the engine to destruction (oh to have that much money). The engine lasted 600,000 and then they worked out that the repair bills were just about double what the extra servicing would have cost at 10,000 km. Also a regularly serviced deisel of this size is expected to do over a 1,500,000 km. The end result was a massive saving in money and less time out of action. They did it to proove that regular servicing is better.

Dale if you want to PM me the Vin, I'll tell you exactly what engine the car came from the factory with. Then you'll have no doubt (if there ever was one). I can run it through Nissan Fast (program). I am fairly sure though that it is a 25tX.
