  1. Welcome to the Stagea Gang...... Another Prime edition.... nice to have all the extra's, (well I think so).... BTW the steering wheel controls for the tiptronic are std in all series 2 cars. Still a very special car, you'll enjoy it, for sure.
  2. Took the train to Perth today and spotted a S2 in white and a Silver M35 sitting on the wharf..... wonder who these are going to go to. You'll have to excuse Chuckie.... HE'S GETTING ON, AND OBVIOUSLY BECOMING A LITTLE DEAF.... ONLINE AT LEAST!!
  3. Yeah Brad can you please post up an agenda.... or a link to what this all entails. I put up another post in the (now) defunct thread. I may have the answer now..... a set of std tyres and rims for the skidpan, then being wet won't matter so much..... but if we are using the track then won't we want maximum traction.... I'm confused! ('sOK I'll run the old std tyres....it wont matter as the laps aren't being timed). Thanks PM me payment details please..... Both Iolanda & I will be turning up..... and taking turns driving.
  4. YEAH CHUCKIE... KNOCK OFF THE SMILIES...EH! OTHER WIZE WE'LLHAVE TO SEND AROUND TO SORT YOU OUT (AND PRESS YOUR CAPS LOCK). Actually this forum has ALL of the elements of a "Normal" car club...... bitchin, backstabbin, people who fink that they and their car is better than everyone elses..... even though the ALL came out of the same mold. Lets got this forum back on track... or should that be skidpan? I am a definite maybe..........no I don't think that I know everything about my car.... but I am still not sure of the value in taking a heavy AWD car around a skidpan..... or are we doing the track? I'm a little confused as to what this event is about..... a skidpan was mentioned..... a skid pan is for skidding isn't it? A track is for going fast..... at least faster than you would on the road. My initial interest was to able to find out the limits of the car, so that I could learn (more) about controlling it.... to be able to do that the car has to become "out of control" and this is where I have my doubts. It isn't because I don't enjoy "throwing a car around" .... I do, BUT the breakaway point of the Stagea (AWD) is so much higher than that of a RWD or FWD car. Therefore it has to be going faster, or tighter and therfore probably putting an incredible amount of force on everything..... if it were wet, I just think that this woudl have so much more value as THAT is where most people are more likely to run into trouble first. So put me down as a probable...... AS FOR THE MONEY...(oops) I can see that being a member has merit..... but I have tried to pay at 2 events and not got anywhere!!?? Oh well, I guess that I'll have to PM Dan... So can you (Brad) post up the adgenda... thanks OH boy Chuckie...... I had to edit your quote cause I had used more emoticons than allowed in my reply!!!!
  5. I have wanted to find out the limits of my car, for a long time.... but I am skeptical that this is gonna do it. I have thought about coming.... but can someone explain the point of going on a DRY skid pan in an AWD car, that grips like the proverbial, and weighs so much? I mean I would like to learn at which point our cars actually let go, but I just don't fancy doing it in the dry and tearing the shit out of my (new) tyres. The car is very unlikely ever to break away in the dry, and learning control, in the dry isn't going to teach control in the wet, IMO. I KNOW that the car starts to slide at about 100kph at Barbagallo negotiating the bottom bend, and is so easy to correct it isn't funny. Convince me that this track day is really going to be worth it, and I'll be there too. Make it wet...... I'll definitely be there.
  6. Brad For all stuck on badges. Use dental floss to cut through the foam backing, (or a craft knife.... but CAREFULLY). Once the badge is off, use a paint brush to paint on mineral turps, it'll get soaked up by the foam and soften the glue keep pulling runs back up to the glue. Allow 5 mins - 10 mins for the turps to soften the glue. Take a soft plastic scraper, (must be softer than the paint or you'll scratch it) then scrape the glue and foam off. Several applications of mineral turps may be needed. DON'T USE RAGS until the final cleaning, unless you want a big mess of glue all over the place and more work! Eventually polish if reqd. Some badges are pinned too (in other cars like Holdens....) means that you get free air vents after removal! Allow about an 1/2 hour - 1 hour to remove the badge properly. Have fun
  7. Aircon sucks up to 10kw of power. You should'nt have it on when starting due to the extra draw on the starter. In extreme conditions you can start blowing fuses, (unlikely but doesn't do the car any good).

    Open Cruise

Good cruise guys, Nice to meet some new people. Luv that R34 GTR M spec Nur edition.... Awesome car. Good map, not too much trouble. We had fun & no Cops. Sorry I had to bail early, (1:30 am). Damn! missed the tunnel again!! good to see that most people were well behaved! looking fwd to the next one.
  9. BEWARE..... These manuals are falsely advertised as 1996 - 2002. They DO NOT cover the S2...... They are the same ones that were on Ebay. I have one. They are somewhat useful, but if you think that you are going to find out everything and every button on your car you're wrong. Like most owners manuals they are very general in nature. They do cover the S1 quite well, but there is no mention of anything that is specific to the S2. Curiously though it has specs on the S1, RS260 and M35!!! (power, torque, dimensions). IMO, it should only be sold as a Series one owners manual. 1996 - 98. I complained to the ebay seller, and they are now advertised as S1 owners manuals. You'll find out more (about your car) on SAU, but if you want one for your glove-box they are not bad. Realise though that they do not show anything other than do's and dont's, also the translation isn't 100%. PS... I bought mine before I got my car, they aren't that much better than the one that comes with compliance.
  10. Also try this page for good links to things Stagea.... having Japanese characters and an interpretor will help!! http://nissan.fc2web.com/stagea.htm
  11. Hi Everyone..... have a great Christmas and New Year..... don't let us see any more shortened Stagea's. Stay safe, and I hope that Santa brings you what you really want.
  12. The problem here is not the cars, or the engines, but the ADR rules. Which changed in late 2003. The emissions are stricter and much harder to acheive, (correct me if I am wrong). Also the inspector who is ruling on the car, is AFA I can work out a nit picker, which is causing the grief. The cars were not made to fit ADRs. It does seem stupid that the V35 Skyline managed to meet it though!!! (again correct me If wrong).
  13. Hi Guys, As I have said before, sorry about your pain...... I don't think that 66YOStagea was trying to be a smart arse, but sometimes people speak, (or in this case write) before they think. "Caveat Emptor" is the basis of our whole legal system. Whether it is houses or cars we must in the end accept some responsibilty for our judgements. After seeking some "expert" advice you obviously have a claim. However in the end it is your (as it was mine once) decision to import. I am not saying that you were wrong. But when if the shit hits the fan, we must all be able to shrug our shoulders and put some of it down to experience. The only good that I see coming of this is that at least others (hopefully) won't make the same mistake. Have you thought about selling them to NZ? That way you only loose the freight to Australia. NZ laws are a lot less strict than ours. I have seen a 2004 on line for sale there. Seeing as they have pay the same sort of price as us, and freight is more to there (as every ship stops at Brisbane on the way), this might the way to minimise your losses. Contact Kiwi freight lines for a price.... Talk about this way of doing things with John, (your complier), it may be the easiest way out for everyone. I certainly think that you should get some sort of recompense. All the best John
  14. Some pics that Chuckie took on the night....
  15. OK, obviously this needs clearing up..... The boost controller isn't a Turbotech. It's a JRD. It is made up of a very standard Tee-piece, and two unions for the hoses, a ball bearing, a spring , bolt & lock-nut. on initial install (incidentally done at a tuning centre), I knew that it was high boosting as soon as I left. I got home (5 mins away) and started backing off the bolt. After a few runs around the block I had the bolt right out to the last threads. It was still about the same. I didn't have time to play with it further, and decided to do it at the track. I did 2 or 3 runs at the drag strip (about 1 hour after the install). It was max boosting & cutting. I removed the ball and spring...... so anyone at this point would expect the car to return to standard boost mode. No, it was still boosting..... after looking at the holes in the unions, I found that they are about 2mm in dia, the Factory pipes are about 4-5mm. That is one big restriction on its own. Obviously far too much for my S2. The hoses were a loose fit and required tightening with hose clamps a fair way. (this should have warned us). So as I see it the controller, controls nothing. It is poorly researched and needs a larger inlet and outlet hole. I am not disputing that the idea is solid but it sure didn't work on mine. I may look at either replacement, or modifying it. But one thing is very clear to me and that it that the flow needs to be unrestricted initally, so that it can be restricted gradually and thereby giving the control that the item claims to be able to do. This item controls nothing, it is a restrictor and that is all. I have to written to the seller. I'll post up the resolution.
  16. No Sean, it wasn't just you. If you look up the original thread, there are 80 pages (I kid you not)..... I didn't read them all... maybe I should have...... oh well it was cheap. The ebay seller gives it a really good rap...(that's where I got the link to the 80 page post). I am only going to put up neutral feedback.... in a word the thing is ..... lets say, not good. They sure don't suit Stagea S2's....(and therefore I doubt that they will suit any RB25 DET).
  17. I too did the manual Boost controller, thingy... but mine was a waste of time. I bought the cheapie that is really raved about on these forums, only to find that it full boosted straight away, went to 1.07 bar, and the boost cut came on. I backed it right off until the adjuster (bolt) was nearly out... No difference.. I took the spring & ball out.... no difference I eventually realised that the orifice in the adapter was far too small, so I removed it. I managed a 14.997 with the controller in, and the car cut out twice before the finish line. I got a 15.01 without it.... so I was happy. 3rd gear surge with the controller was noticeably better. My speedo was a mile out, reading 160kph at finish, when the car was only doing 141. It's got me wondering if the cut out was actually speedo related. The main thing was I beat an XR8 Falcon and an R8 commodore!! All in all it was a great night. The M35, ran pretty good, but they are heavy. Also it's worth mentioning that both the M35, (Karl's car), and the Commodore wagon (his mate Pete) that he raced against all night, were both set up with hand controls, due to both owners being paraplegics. So hopefully that'll be a big slap in the face for all those lame arses that didn't even bother to show. It seems that some people are more "able" than others! Even without full use of their limbs! So a big well done to Karl and Pete..... showing up and having a go, is what Whoop Ass Wednesdays is all about. It took them both a while to come to grips with the launches, but in the end Karl shaved 2 secs off his initial run. I believe that his best was a 15.4 sec. Next time I want to have a run against him.....just to proove that the C34's still cut it. A big thanks to Chuckie too, pit crew extraordinaire (to everyone). We'll set up another in the New Year..... hopefully we'll get more people turn up.
  18. Forecast...... Tuesday Becoming fine. Partly cloudy. Min 15 Max 24 Wednesday Fine. Min 12 Max 25 Thursday Fine. Min 13 Max 25 Friday Fine. Min 12 Max 27 Saturday Fine. Cloudy periods. Min 15 Max 30 Sunday Fine. Partly cloudy. Min 19 Max 31 May be OK on this one.... what has happened to Perth's endless summer..... more like endless winter this year.... I think that it's the melting of Antarctica.... it is actually making the Southern Ocean cooler and we are getting more "Albany like" weather.... It's just Mother Nature trying to level up mankinds stuff-ups..... Does drag racing count as a Green sport? How many trees do we have to plant to cover our 1/4 mile runs? Does anyone really care? That's about as green as I get!
  19. Mostly Bump.... but I wonder who that woman was I saw in an S1 on Beeliar Drive, that drove so sedately behind me. Then at the roundabout comes up besides me and boots it.... errr like it still had a stock system and didn't go too well.... I restrained myself... she didn't even acknowledge us.... I think that she might have been serious!! If you're out there.... Motorplex... Wednesday..... the street is not for racing... especially with kids in the car. Then I saw another (white) S2 Stagea when I turned at the lights of Gateways S/C... beeped but no acknowledgement.... 2 in less than 5 mins.... they are getting so common!! So c'mon guys lets have a show of hands.... or better just a show of Stagea's.
  20. Yeah Matt.... sorry to hear.... but please keep us posted with the outcome. Like the others said, through your experience some good will come if only so others don't have to go through the same. Still shit though.
  21. Have a talk to Chuckie, his car has been in WA for about 18 months, didn't see any issues with the paint the other night.....(I swear that the yellow is even brighter at night). I don't think that you will find an RS4S (manual) with leather.... they come with a different interior cloth of their own. It is similar to the Autech cloth and also similar to the GTR in texture. It's a woven polyester... The only way that you'd find a leather interior is as an option, ('cept I don't think it even came as an option) or by finding an auto that's been converted... (careful!!). Yellow is also an S2 colour only.... be prepared to pay a premium for the RS4S. Allow about $20,000 all up, you should be able to find a good one, as far as I have seen they are still selling over the Million yen mark.
  22. Oh and thanks to whoever let me in at Kalamunda Rd turn.... nearly missed it!!! Nice photo's too thanks - Top Stuff.
  23. Yep c'mon everybody..... nows the time... put up or shut up as they say!! You probably don't have to worry 'bout coming last, I think that spot may be reserved for me....(dead std drive train).... Maybe time to change that! It'll be a good night (as long as it doesn't rain like nearly every other Wednesday!!).
  24. Kool cruise.... good to put some faces to names. Good map, pity we didn't finish it all, but live closer to Gateways SC than the finish... I can only imagine what the cars sounded like going through the Polypipe!! Awesome. Thanks
  25. It was a cool cruise, met some nice new people, and one very new (4 month old) person who looked so at home in the back of her mums red Series 1. About 60 Skylines and 4 Stageas... red series one (Chuky's niece Heather & baby Sophie), Chuky's Yellow S2, my Bluey and Karl's very kool M35 Axis. For those that didn't come... you missed a good night. All 3 lanes of the freeway looks great taken up with Skylines and Stageas. Next time...........
