  2. Tyres now fitted on the car. Very pretty Test drives welcome by appointment (send me a pm and ill send you my mobile). Sunday will be the earliest and last opportunity until June 1st
  3. Anyone else hear about the kangaroo BBQ at the Defence site in front of the activists, cant remember the name of it but it was something along the lines of kanga-banga-sanga something. The look on the activists faces would have been priceless
  4. haha yea, apparently it was a shitter for drifting. Cost him 7k and doesnt run with the headlights on
  5. my fuel gauge is shit house. Empty on gauge is about 1/2 full in reality, I just set the trip meter each time i refill and refill at about 400-500kms
  6. haha i dont doubt they will win... again on a less sports and man oriented topic, i finally gave in and bought a PS3 and GTA IV... i lasted 3 weeks... $630 for the bundle though, could not resist
  7. red wine sauce with slow cooked kangaroo steaks, perfection
  8. The animal rights activists are saying they have never seen anything like this... A fun fact, the yearly quota of kangaroos to be culled in QLD is upward of 3.8 million with the number rising with every review. 500 sedated and euthanaised kangaroos is apparently much worse then 3.8million shot.
  9. chassis was bent, it was repairable but decided not to bother. Was going to sell for parts but decided to sell the whole thing in one go, didnt make as much but it got it out of the way.
  10. my cousin is a massive vegan/activist, so far she is the only person i have met who is against the cull. Her whole argument is: "Nobody HAS to kill anyone/thing. There is always a different way! In the same way lethal injection is also not necessary. Human nature largely appears to be to act in a self serving nature. There aren't that many people that realise that they have no more right to happiness than anyone/anything else." which is just the typical activist statement, no scientific or logical backup, just emotions
  11. Not yet. Finding any time off work is very difficult at the moment, I'm in my final 2 weeks of my job. Heres a photo taken just now to show im not stalling for time that i have the tyres all set to go its just a matter of getting them on: (note, they are getting properly stored for the time being, not just sitting outside ) If i dont get a chance to get them fitted this friday it won't be until after the 1st of June
  12. yea it was my stupidity but it was also lack of experience, knowing what i know now i would have braked rather then panicking and trying to accelerate out of it (fishtale up the road into light post), 1 gigantic shit storm later with a certain company trying to pin a very large ($25k+) con job on me and i learnt a lesson (i didnt have to pay the money, the company got caught doing the dodge on me, i was extremely lucky) I still keep the front left wheel at home, memento of retardation
  13. Agree with you, they are so overpopulated and basically a large rodent. They are marsupials (young born at early stage, develop in pouch) and therefore aren't like most animals which increase their gestation period during droughts to lower competition for what little food there is in the area. Animal rights activists fail to see the other option which is allowing them to live and starve or living and as you said removing smaller species form the area... The kangaroos are just lucky that the culls were so publicised or they would of been like any other cull (less focus on humane treatment, more on eradication)
  14. Not safe! The toyota guys would skin you for that haha, nah they do look fairly rickety but they are a surprisingly comfortable and cruisy car for something 32+ years old. If this is going to be your first car, definitely buy a shitter of a car. In my first year of driving before i had the major crash and wrote off my car and smartened up I never drove to the conditions and lost it in the rain twice (once at 80km and was VERY lucky to escape that, came to a stop in someones front yard between a large concrete light post and a gum tree with no more then 1m either side), overtaking on roundabouts and around corners, didn't maintain the car, drove for only myself and didn't take much notice of other peoples driving. I was telling my sister the same thing about 2 weeks before her crash, she was overtaken on a roundabout but kept going the same speed, exiting the roundabout the other car had to slam on the brakes for the form 1 lane ahead and my sister ran right up the back, with experience she would of known to slow down to leave a gap. My big crash just involved me driving like an idiot, accelerating too hard out of a roundabout and sliding into a light post
  15. Canberraconnect.com - 13 22 81 would be the best place to call, I've tried searching all the government websites but cannot find it in writing. I was pretty much 100% sure that is ruling but who knows, crappy websites. Was saying that if you cant get a turbo/v8 then 1st gen celica, hatchback or bmw is your best bet. If you can get a turbo car, buy my 33 GTST haha Also something else, have you owned a car before or will this be your first and how long have you had your P's for. Your first car is supposed to and should be an absolute shitter of a car, its where you will (not might, -WILL-) make all your crappy driving mistakes. I shouldn't be preaching this, i've only got 2.5 years driving experience, but the majority of people i know have all made some stupid mistake that has caused some varying degree of damage to their car within their first year of driving or at least had a very near miss. No point in ruining a skyline over some stupid mistake ( )
  16. hi, which suburb in Sydney would your friends PS be available for pickup from? I'll be heading up to the Homebush area next Saturday
  17. Differences that aren't to do with a turbo engine (ecu, wiring, compression, intercooler etc.) are things like larger brakes and basic supporting mods to go with a more powerful car. You cant just remove the turbo and drive it. As always, if you want a turbo car it is cheaper to buy one turbo, same with N/A. If you want an N/A car, buy it already in that form rather then convert. 20"s will most likely rub and i dont know of any non-chrome 20" wheels so theres the added douche factor of that aswell Think the kind of car you are after is a BMW sedan (325i) from what you have said. Around you price range ($15,000 max for a pre-98 model), a bit of go (V6 from memory), comfortable sedan with a classy (see also: Yuppie) look but at the same time this is the most common car to see in a Uni carpark with 20" chrome wheels and phat bass pumping hectically Can't find the link but it was 2006, can guarantee it. You can get a v8/turbo with a reasonable excuse but its not worth the effort.
  18. yep, main dash surround, gear and ash tray surround and the arm rest with power window controls on it. Was pretty impressed with the results actually. Went to bunnings and bought white primer, white spray and clear coat. Sanded it back with low grade sand paper then higher grade to smooth it out, 3 or 4 layers of primer half hour apart, 4 or 5 layers of white half hour apart, 3 layers of clear coat for protection and left to dry for a day. $50 max in materials and sprayed in between another job. If you take your time it turns out really well, theres a thread on the forums with pics of other people who have done it in different colours.
  19. Definitely in your situation i would look at something small, cheap and N/A. Possibly a small hatchback, hatchbacks generally have better sound quality and bass then sedans anyway If you buy a small hatch back it will be a lot easier to comp insure it as well and should be covered by the major companies (NRMA, AAMI etc.) and will be cheaper Not to mention maintenance on a turbo car and other costs. If you want a decent looking car for cheap and have a bit of knowledge in maintainence, look at getting a first gen celica ("im on your forums, stealing your members") Easily find a good condition car for around $4000 and they look pretty good for a 30 year old car(few images below) ta22 http://koich.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/09/Celica.jpg ta23 http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1424528665030486179JUiQwS ra28 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Celica_ra28.jpg Also, 1 year ACT rego is around $650, 3 months is $188.
  20. haha, i remember watching a show where a kid who was really good at rally simulation games got to drive a Subaru on a rally track in real life. Unsurprisingly he crashed it and caused a shit load of damage. Apparently they learned a few lessons this time around with the 4 months training course
  21. Well I've been talking about it for a while but no more half-arsed selling, car has to go before i change my mind. I can't look at it in the mornings without regretting the decision... Make: Nissan Model: Skyline Milage: 98,5**km Transmission: Manual Colour: White (QM1 - Cloud White) Location: Canberra Complied: Yes RWC supplied: Yes Currently registered? Yes (will sell with an extra 3 months of rego on top if sold before July 2008) Price: $15,000 Contact: Please contact me on these forums if you are interested and i can send you my Mobile number I am the first Australian owner of this car after buying this from a Private Importer in Melbourne (story is detailed on the forums, compressed version: bought over eBay(no different to an add on allclassifieds/ carsales etc) from a private importer, went to Melbourne to inspect, loved it and drove it home). I bought the car in September of 2006 as a Stock Standard R33 GTST with 76,000km on the clock. Thats only 22,000kms driven in the near 2 years of ownership with the majority being highway kilometers. During my ownership the car has had no problems, bar the few common minor problems involving sensors passing their used by date, all of which have been replaced before January of this year and nothing has resurfaced since. The only reason i am selling this car is that I cannot, as hard as i might try, justify owning 2 cars at this point in my life. It is nothing to do with petrol as the skyline is surprisingly more fuel efficient then the celica, it is the registration and general upkeep of two cars with the added temptation of wanting to modify the skyline that is too much for my wallet to handle. Modification wise the car is predominantly still in stock condition (still running stock boost), the only change has been a larger turbo back exhaust system fitted (3" HKS Silent Hi-Power with BATMBL split dump/front and high flow cat). It is not overly loud (exhaust is designed to be quieter then most 3" systems, id place it a bit above the Trust PEII but well below the other HKS systems) though it would most likely not pass the RTA dB limits so the buyer of this car will also receive the stock R33 GTST exhaust system (unfitted). Under my ownership the car has been serviced every 5,000km with Mobil1 10W30, new oil filter and new air filter. While every 10,000km sees the car on the hoist to receive a more in depth check over. The car has also recently (4/5/08, less than 100km travelled since) had a major service completed including: -New Excedy Clutch (and spigot/thrust bearing) -100,000km Service - including timing belt, water pump, idle tensioner, cam seals etc. -All brake rotors machined -New rear brake pads -Coolant flush -New brake and clutch fluid -Oil, oil filter, air filter replaced -Throttle body cleaned Car will also be sold with 4 brand new Federal tyres. I will honestly be surprised if this car does not pass RWC first attempt, I have been spending far too much time and money on bringing this car up to a much higher standard just so that the sale will be easier but the more i spend the more i try justify keeping it. This genuinely is a reluctant sale... The Cosmetic modifications on the car are also very minor and include: -R34GTT Rims -Greddy A-Pillar pod mount with HKS boost gauge (readings in Bar) -Painted center console (white) (pictures below) -Nismo Leather Gear knob -Nismo Clear Indicators -Door trims (not the best quality but the previous Japanese owner was either a smoker or a clumsy pyromaniac and there were small burns on the fabric areas, I was planning on getting new door trims but decided to re-trim for a bit of practice before eventually replacing them) (pictures below) -Gear and Handbrake boots (leather surrounds) re-made in Italy (fancy pants name dropping )with genuine leather in white and black (pictures below) -Main dash gauges replaced with 300km/h and in white (AMEC supplied kit) and dash lights replaced with blue LEDs -Genuine GTR (Vspec I, more fancy pants name dropping) bootlid and spoiler already painted in QM1 (i spent A LOT of time searching for this, probably my biggest regret in selling the car) Plastic OEM item, not fibreglass and has working brake light -Light up Rear 'SKYLINE' Garnish -Apexi pen-style turbo timer Car also comes with professionally installed C.A.M alarm system with immobiliser, window smash sensors, inbuilt and dedicated alarm battery, black wiring (no distinguishable wiring) and adjustable sensitivity (note, the small reader on the steering column in the pictures is not a boost controller, it is a digital rev/speedometer, the car has never been run on boost above the factory 7psi) Pictures: (datsun and XF ute not for sale ) (first skyline event back in Dec 2006, disregard the p-plates. As a few people may know I had a crash in my previous car and learnt all the valuable driving lessons in that car (unfairly enough i found i was not invincible) . To be honest it was by far the best experience for me to go through, 2 years on and incident free) (the 1am photoshoot) (interior shot) (complete interior shot) So thats my car up for sale...hopefully i don't chicken out of selling it... If you have any friends or family who are looking for a well looked after and recently serviced to unnecessarily high standards then PM me over the forums and i can send you my Mobile number to organise an inspection. To sum it all up in one sentence: My 1996 SII R33 in near factory stock condition, with recent 100,000km major service, new Excedy clutch and 4 brand new federal tyres is selling for $15,000 Also, I am aware that the price is a bit above the current trend of $11,000 R33s but as a general rule of thumb, you get what you pay for. Thanks Alex
  22. silver 33 (think it was a gtr, ambulance was blocking the view) on roundabout near fyshwick markets and silver 34 with no wing at the lights near the markets around 3:30pm 2 maroon 33s at the mawson shops area around 4:30pm there was more but i cant remember details. Did see a pretty TA22 celica but that belongs on another forum
  23. bumping it up again. Just to summarise this sale in one sentence. $15,000 for a near stock 1996 Series II R33 which has traveled 22,000kms in my 2 year ownership that has just had the 100,000km major service, a new clutch and 4 brand new Federal tyres fitted. How is that not a good deal :x ? Fair enough you can buy one of the other r33s for sale here for 9,000 but generally you get what you pay for. Nothing in life is free
  24. sounds about right, skylines aren't the 500hp beasts people seem to perceive them as and dynos are tuning tools, not 100% accurate power reading machines My 33 (RB25, same engine as your 34) made 142.2kw with the same minimal mods as yours (turbo back exhaust). 150kw may have been the as new, fresh off the assembly power figure but over time it will lose a bit of power.
