Do you know how the previous owner ran the engine in? Shouldnt be blowing smoke at all if the rings have bed in. All of the rebuilt engines ive seen have never blown smoke. Could have a very small oil leak in the turbo and oil that you see is it burning off. But if its noisey when cold it the clearances might be a little too much. Nothing serious unless it breathes under load/RPM. Did the previous owner build the motor? Does he have engine specs/measurements?

Just thought i would mention, a silvia that was tuned at JEM a few day ago cranked out a very impressive 407rwkw on E85 (out of the bowser) This SR has had alot of engine work and produced the numbers with a hybrid T04Z at 30psi. In 3 weeks JEM will get their hands on my mates RB25/30 that has been solely built to run on E85. Hoping to crack the 500rwkw mark Fingers crossed!

Looking at the graph power looks to cap at 7000rpm revving it to 9000rpm would be a waste if there is nothing happening. Maybe with some time spent on the tune you could get that line a bit more linear and get some decent gains. Good luck with it all.

400rwkw is a good number dont get me wrong, but its only 46hp more than my 25 at basically the same boost level with a GT30. Granted im running E85. I would have though an RB28 with big cams and a T04Z would be making a little more than that, maybe im wrong.

Its a controlled 85% Ethanol 15% 98 unleaded. Which i can source for $2 per/L

Most have 1j or 2j engines so i dont think service parts will be that big of a deal.

Much of a muchness. You cant really go wrong with exhausts. At 3.5inch which looks pretty much straight through, its going to be on the loud side.
