compass relies on GPS signal to determine which direction it is heading then it will realign itself. on top of that the car has gyroscope, which senses if the car is turning where GPS signal isn't available, e.g underground car park. on some cars where aftermarket navi has been installed and oem gps antenna removed to make way for aftermarket navi gps antenna (reason is oem spot behind climate control display is the best spot to get GPS signal) then the car won't know which way it is heading in a reliable way. if OEM gps antenna still there, perhaps the antenna has gone faulty or the connection was severed between the ROM unit and the GPS antenna.

did you have aftermarket navigation?
-
I can answer that - left vent comes out too - it's part of the navi panel. left side pops out first - then... something not really mentioned in that instruction, is: once left side is popped out, you gotta wedge the right side out, if you pop up the navi lid up, you can see the round edge of the navi panel on the inside of passenger side vent's "frame" on the centre console. it needs to go out of that frame by wedging it out. when putting back in, make sure you wedge that edge into the centre console vent's frame, otherwise it will push into the centre vent and the vent won't turn up and down or it may get pushed the plastic could crack. you really need to take your time with it - it's the most delicate part to do there. but once you get the hang of it you should be fine.

Spotted storm blue V35 coupe this morning behind me on Dynon Rd, seems to be in a hurry - late for work mate? -
was anything changed prior to that happening? e.g. a recent a/v install or accessories add on?

Radio? of course you use your car's audio system. You need what it called FM Band Expander. usually installed prior to the aerial lead goes into the factory radio unit. My car has a 10 & 20Mhz step down band expander installed, which means it automatically step down all Australian radio frequency by 10 & 20 anything that falls within 76-90Mhz after step down will be picked up by the JDM Bose unit. e.g. Mix 101.1 is transformed into 81.1 and 91.1 but since 91.1 is over 90Mhz, my Bose unit will use the 81.1 Vega 91.5 is transformed into 71.5 and 81.5 but since 71.5 is lower than 76Mhz, my Bose unti will use the 71.5 So when my Bose display 81.1Mhz on its radio display, it's actually tuned to 101.1 Mix. Nova 100.3 is 80.3 on my radio, and 81.5 is Vega 91.5, 81.9 is Fox 101.9, 3M becomes 85.1, and Gold is 84.9 if u listen to oldies rock. Some band expander come in 16 & 32 step down, but I think that's just confusing to calculate what you're actually listening to. I find 10 & 20 is easier to figure out, but of course depend where you live, 16 & 32 may be better for your application depending what radio station you're usually listening to, because the idea is to transform the most australian radio frequency into the JDM's unit 76-90Mhz tuning capability. Of course by using 10 & 20Mhz I will loose ability to listen to anything under 96Mhz but I don't see that as a problem as I hardly listened to any fradios below that frequencies. If the car you're picking up don't have Bose unit, just ditch the unit came with the car and head to your local JB and get a DIN or double DIN unit. Don't bother with band expander unless you don't want to spend anything over $60-100

Brake Pads For V35 Need Asap !
rs73 replied to ripstah's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
because they don't have EBC part catalog perhaps. DB is bendix. DP is EBC. you need to find the cross reference equivalent to all the EBC's DP part numbers I gave you in 'Bendix' language. sorry but I don't have Bendix catalog so I will always speak in 'EBC' language :-) -

easy - that is front DP2775 and rear DP21666 reference from EBC green catalog. 100% match to Nissan 350Z touring. don't tell your brake shop it's V35 they'll be scratching their head. tell them it's 350Z they'll just go 'ah, right...' and grab a pack from the shelf - unless they're out of stock. If no one have it in stock let me know as I do them in group buy but I won't start in another week or so. So there'll be a wait time. If you're in a real hurry best to grab a set from your nearest brake shop. -
the aus tv tuner comes with IR receiver installed in the dash. in my car it's in the a/c display. this carries the remote signal to the aus tv tuner in the boot. the aus tv tuner is in the boot left trim panel need to remove it and it just sits on top of the japanese tv tuner. garmin is in the passenger kick panel where normally the ecu is. garmin uses RF so no need for an IR receiver don't have any photos, sorry.
-
no - my tv tuner controlled via supplied remote control. my garmin uses another remote. in passenger kick panel. rom unit in upper glovebox must stay - that is the brain for ur trip computer and tv display. anything should be able to be plugged as aux input - best to ask audiospecialist - my advice can be wrong i'm not the expert i only give example based on how i believe my car setup is

Brake Pads For V35 Need Asap !

what year? brembo or non-brembo? hint - don't tell them it's V35. tell them it's locally delivered 350Z -
that said, the englishh conversion translates most menu (except some oem navigation menu which we can't use anyhow) and all the warning popup screen that you often get, e.g. service reminder, low fuel, etc.
-
well it's for the whole thing, basically for the "license" - it's not a DIY - the idea is to ensure the developers get paid so it works like a software license activation. the TV tuner won't be converted because it's a hardware thing - Japan's TV frequency are different to Oz and thus the chipset in the tv tuner only works for Japan. However chook on this forum is doing group buy on Asuka TV tuner which can receive Oz DTV signal be installed and feed into the factory TV's aux setting. Alternatively in my car I use HiTV tuner. If you have the factury TV set to Aux (choose the OTR source) then you can watch the TV through either the add on Asuka or HiTV tuners. most auto electrician should be able to wire it into the japanese tv tuner's aux input. But you still need the japanese tuner there as the TV screen interacts with it. Nav can't be converted because the map is built using Xanavi's closed proprietary format, which means no other company (e.g. Navman Garmin) made a compatible format that the DVD ROM can read, nor Xanavi Japan will ever make maps other than Japanese map. Easier and cheaper to get an aftermarket unit on the windscreen or either have it wired through the factory TV's aux or do a video overlay but this require a good audio/video expert to do that. Happy New Year too!

I think the guy was quite nervous really being an actor in the video, if you kept watching their other videos there's another one where he stuttered for words and said something wrong that either the V35 or V36 was the same engine spec with locally delivered 350...er..GT... er Z... lost for words... Unless they have bigger budget to hire an advertising actor/actress who can memorise ad script and have the time to do multiple shots each time the presenter gets lost for words, then I don't see how you would have 100% smooth take on the first run.

well my R33 power window died too... at least you got better chance with V35 as they are newer car. even if they failed, go to your local nissan dealer or browse the ebay for a 350z power window motor replacement. seriously they are not that bad of a problem... cheaper if you can take it to auto elec and usually they can fix it for you for a fraction of a cost. that's what they did with my R33 power window motor. $70 'clean' from auto elec and it works again. saved me a few hundreds. if power window motor scares you, don't buy/own any Nissan. fullstop. it's a common plague across the whole brand of Nissan, unfortunately, new or old.

V35s cheaper these days - superior comfort, great handling/balance, get a 6sp w/brembo, chuck in HKS s/c or tt kit and still leave you a lot of change from an ageing E46... seriously consider it...
