I had a great day there too pity i couldn't go for a ride -being under 18 i needed parental or guardian permission. next time i shall remember the fake ID or the parental permission slip - LOL i got a heap of photos.... i'll hopefully get them up tonight or tommorow. thanks to XRSIST for taking me and use of the camera(s) hehe.. we had a digital video camera, and two digital still cameras.. wooo oh and... i remembered to disable digital zoom! wooohoo!

If you flush mount, make sure to have a couple of 12V fans to give the amps air. The spare tyre is a space saver type - mounted on the bottom of the boot. you could make a removable false floor too.. however R33's have small, deep boots.

Oh - and they do look photoshopped in that pic. If they were real you'd think the back of the tail light would be a bit more reflective? Like looking through the red ones - the back of the tail light looks bright and metallic - as if it were silver, right? In that pic it looks like it's a flat grey colour *shrugz* Who care's anyway - they're ugly we already established that
-
Clear tail-lights dont generically look good. Like i mean, just cause a tail light is clear don't mean it looks good. They don't look too good at all. Red tail lights look alot beter on Skylines. Some cars look good with clear tails - Some don't - and Skylines are one of them

Some opinions on this pioneer package plz?
d0p3y replied to Mr.cluk's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Oh and just to add. 8.5" Speakers are gonna be a pain to install up front. 6" is the largest you can go for doors without making pods. 8.5"s are gonna be very bassy - 6"s are quite bassy as it is. As far as people telling you not to bother with 10" subs that is bull****. a 8" subwoofer can make a car shake, you know. a 10" will deliver a nice punchy, responsive bass sound. You'll be pretty happy with it and i'm sure you'll be surprised. Remember - Bigger isn't ALWAYS better. Ryan -
Some opinions on this pioneer package plz?
d0p3y replied to Mr.cluk's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
If you want a minimal fuss installation, go for it. $800 is a fairly good price for that package. It's Pioneer which means it's good quality. Can't go too wrong. However, it's not the best. You could go and buy seperate components and build a better system than that - but it'd probrably cost more. So like i said, if you want a minimal fuss budget installation go for that package. -
No offence Crazyfcuk but Fusion splits suck ass. Their subs and amps are ok, but still Fusion is not the best quality stuff out there. Looks great though, and you're obviously happy with your install so that's all that matters. As for good budget splits, i suggest you look at some Hertz splits. They're FANTASTIC value. Jaycar also have pretty good splits beleive it or not. They're made by the same company that makes Focals i think - or some other really expensive brand - so there you go. Also i suggest you get a amp to run them it'll make them sound alot better. 4x50wrms should be enough - there's a heap of them going around for a cheap price lately. Stay away from Sony & Kenwood. They're OK - but i shall refer to them as Ricers - All show - no go. Hope that helps you a little. Just have a listen to the splits on a board before you buy. You don't sound like you're too fussed - so perhaps some Pioneers or something will do you. They'll definately be loud if that's what you're after - but as i said. Get a 4x50wrms Amp. It'll make things alot better. A deck says 4x50w but it's actually putting out between 3 and 5w rms which is **** all. Therfore even a cheap 4x50wrms amplifier is a BIG improvement over the decks output Cheers Ryan

First off, Unless you know your shiznit as far as wiring goes, i suggest you get a professional to install it, and test all your wiring. However i suggest you avoid stores such as Strathfield Car Radio's - and go to a reputable Car Audio specialist. There's a fair few around. I reccomend Fairfield Car Audio and Into Sound. They're both very good Checking wiring on a import when you first get it is important in my opinion, as Japanese people seem to like to do crazy things with their wiring. You never know what's been done, and if anything has been crossed over and it's doing the system damage. First off - Installing the sub. Build a box (Or get one of the companies mentioned above to make one) Of at least 16mm thick MDF to the manufactueres specifications, unless you've already got a box. Face the sub backwards towards the boot lid/tail lights. As far as mounting the amps goes, are you going to do a flush mounted installation or you just want to whack everything in the boot? If you just want to whack everything in the boot - I suggest you mount the amps on a 19mm thick piece of MDF attached to the back of the subwoofer box, or on a piece of (carpeted) MDF on the floor of the boot. Mounting them on MDF is a good idea - screwing them into the floor of your boot is not. Try attaching the MDF to the floor by using a good, strong velcro. I suggest the same with the sub box. You'll need a fair bit of velcro - But it's the best way. It also means you can remove everything with very little fuss. For the 6x9's - I suggest you make a new parcel shelf from 16mm MDF or thicker. I've mentioned about this in another thread NDR started, go and have a look. There's a thread about making a new parcel shelf with pods - i highly reccomend you build one you'll thank me later As for the front splits - You'll probrably want to keeep the stock mounting positions yeah? Well make a nice MDF ring for them before mounting, and i suggest you put a little bit of sound deadner on the inside of your door trims and stuff them with Dacron. It won't add much weight to the car at all - and it will make the splits sound ALOT better. Hope that helps you a little Ryan

Well, on Friday i am going with a mate to look for good photo spots. I'm thinking of organising a photoshoot cruise thing - so we can get some nice shots of our NSW Member's cars and stuff - to use on the main site's member bio's and just so you can have some nice pics of your cars in General. I'd just like to know how many of you would be interested in this? If it's only like 1 or 2 people i won't bother organising it. P.S. I don't have a digi cam atm, i could try borrow one but i'm pretty sure Silvo would be happy to take the photos. Ryan

i might try hitch a ride and come along..

URMINE mentioned something in another thread about splitting up the forums, because there's too many. Well, i think its okay but i can see a couple which could get split up.. We could try -- -- Putting the games discussion into the wasteland -- Combining Motorsport land with Drift and name it Motorsport/Drift -- Get rid of the "scene in japan" forum, as its rarely used, and most of the stuff there would be fine if posted in General just my input ryan

PranK, dude, is the site EVER gonna be up? Sure we don't have much content.. but seriously, i could get a good site up within 1-2days.. it's taking forever, rightly so because you're busy, but theres plenty of content - we've had a heap of cruises now, so we've got alot of pics and we can just do a short write up on each event - we've got a heap of members - put an announcement on the forums about member bios - organise this photoshoot (or i can, if u like) so our state members can have some more nice pics - we've got plenty of events coming up to put up on the main page - i can get some wallpapers done, make some screen savers and whatnot and then let it grow from there, in which it will if we've at least got a decent page up! what do you think? ryan -
i spoke to MaTBoY earlier in the week, hes hopefully going to come but he's unsure yet. So add him in as a "maybe" Ryan
-
You were right about it being a good fit - that looks excellent. Though, around the head unit itself looks a little messy cause there's gaps.. but still good

Dont laugh, but I really wanna get into racing. any tips
