  1. Black spur is nice, as are a lot of the roads in the dandenong mountains area. I've only been there a couple of times but they were awesome. Having said that, the G.O.R is without a doubt one of the most spectacular roads I've driven on in Victoria and I would highly recommend going there.
  2. I'd take a GT3 over a GTR. But I'd take a ZR1 over any of them.
  3. If carbon bonnets cut your head off there wouldn't be a single manufacturer on the planet that would create cars with carbon bonnets. Seeing as cars from factory tuning shops can come with carbon bonnets I don't think that would be an issue. Having said that, I'd lead to believe that carbon bonnets shatter into many shards upon impact which can be a health hazard to pedestrians and other road users as well as the occupants of the car. I've had a carbon bonnet (fibreglass core though) for a year now and have driven past many a cop car and been through several booze bus set ups and not a sinle cop said anything. Does that mean its not defectable? Probably not. I think it means if you drive sensibly and your car isn't over the top the average cop won't give you any headaches.
  4. I think the launch control is over rated anyway. Its the same as dumping the clutch - and let's be serious how many times has anyone done that to their car in the last year? I'd wager hardly at all (not counting doing it once or twice when you first bought the car :-p ) Aside from that the car seems to be one hell of a car and I'd love to own one.
  5. ^^ +1. Sounds like an expensive (albeit smart) solution to current speed humps.
  6. Lol @ some of the comments. Bloody hell the thing sounds like a V8 supercar when he gets right up it doesn't it? I can't help but think that's what the Spec-V should have been like - lighter AND more powerful.
  7. I thought some of you guys may get a kick out of this I'd love to have one. http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/video_...html?vid=867761
  8. Seeing as you have the RB26 and the RB30 block have you thought of doing a 26/30 hybrid? From what I've read on here a RB30 bottom end with the RB26 top end allows for some outrageous power and outrageous torque.
  9. he he the infamous article huh? from memory the N1 in that article put down similar times to a 996 Turbo. 206kW: yeah right nissan My guess is the nur's made similar power to the ordinary N1's seeing as they had the same drivetrain.
  10. It sounds a lot like a test done by Autocar. http://www.autocar.co.uk/VideosWallpapers/...&FLT=24|34| p.s. I really like Chris Harris as a presenter - even though he's not in the video :-p

    Speeding Fine

Writing a letter is a good idea. It won't cost you anything and you've got nothing to lose. Considering you've got other fines to pay I honestly wouldn't bother contesting the speeding fine in court via a lawyer because you'll probably lose and it won't be cheap.
  12. looks like it makes something move in/out or up/down. is it something to do with ventilation?

    Speeding Fine

Do you know any international students? International licenses don't have any demerit points, so if youi can get them to say they were driving then you'll have to pay the fine but atleast you won't lose any points. p.s. I agree on not wasting money on a laywer for such a small fine. A lot of lawyers charge at least $200-$300 per hour which is much more than your fine.
  14. I think it'd be easier and cheaper to find one of the HSV Coupe4's and be done with it :-p It's not a GTR but I'd love to find out how good a car they are.
  15. +1 on XR6T's and LSx engined cars. Lets not forget Evo's and STI's of course. brits have already released an evo FQ400
  16. Hey guys. I've got a damaged R33 GTR rim, its got sizeable crack and I was wondering if it's possible to fix. I should try to take some pictures over the weekend. Are there any places in Melbourne that could do this repair?
  17. dunno about that; the RB series has an iron block whereas the LSx's have alloy blocks. The LSx's may infact be lighter.
  18. LS1's aren't the same engine as the 5L.

    Spec-v

Well there must be something not included in that article because the price premium being asked must be for something. Maybe the car as a package will be much better than the standard car (i.e. what a GT3 is to a base 911). The article mentions a lot of carbon fibre equipment AND the removal of the back seat among other things.
  20. Ha! I drove past there last night and I had suspicions that it was something related to hooning. The guys were standing around arguing with the cops. The cars were parked on the median strip. They looked like a bunch of bogans and their cars were falcadores. Idiots.

    Spec-v

OK this is just a link the the article on the SAU home page, http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Co...ns-t247201.html If you notice the asking price is more than TWICE that of the standard GTR. Carbon brakes aside; do the rest of the modifications justify the massive price increase? I guess I was expecting a little bit more than what Nissan has delivered - especially in the power increase (or the lack thereof). What do you guys think?
  22. If the V8 can somehow be adapted to work with the ATESSA then I'd take the V8. Otherwise I'll stick with the RB26 and ATESSA (what good is lots of power without traction?).
  23. Not a big boot, a decent size done that can be used regularly.
  24. Lol great post!
  25. If you're not doing anything illegale and you're car is roadworthy then it does it REALLY matter if there are more cops around? Some of the posts made on this forum regarding cops are childish and make me wonder about the attitudes towards obeying traffic laws some SAU members display. I've got as much reason to hate cops as anyone else (I've lost my license preciously) but I respect the road laws now and realise that they're there to protect people and raise revenue (I had to throw that in).
