  1. He did ask about intake too Scott, air filter and intercooler specifically. According to him, there is a huge difference in 70mm and 80mm exhaust in terms of his mapping. I couldn't work out what he was on about with the manual throttle, whether he was talking about the throttle or one of those throttle controllers. I've mentioned that to my intermediary and she said she must have got the translation wrong then, she'll find out more information when I'm ready. The more she talked about it though the more I thought he was talking about a throttle controller, so you could turn it down when you didn't need it as a safety thing when you have no restriction.
  2. I was wrong, I tested it today and it shows the syncro light, with the four wheels and the S in circle. I only see the actual 4WD light when I first start it up. But KiwiRS4T is definately wrong about the M35 4WD system. Definately 100% rear under normal circumstances. I've also driven at 100km/h with the syncro button in and torque is still sent to the front.
  3. Isn't Northshore the only place in Sydney approved to comply M35s? Anyway, when I looked at your car before I bought mine, I got the impression it had an Impul ECU, in which case you won't need a flash I wouldn't have thought. So me, Scott, Tonto, Dale. I'll talk to my intermediary on Monday and see what kind of deal we can get, be good to get a couple more people and make it sound worthwhile. Does everyone have the same 3" (80mm?) exhaust?
  4. Well I don't know why everyone's cars would be different, but my 4WD light only comes on when I lock the front diffs, i.e. lock it in 4WD. I've done this a couple of times because I didn't think the front torque gauge was working (since it never moved!). I haven't had a chance to drive mine in the wet yet, so I'll see what it does, but it usually just grips and goes. I don't have mods yet though. From my understanding and experience with the car so far, I don't think it is a full 4WD system. Its on demand, and RWD unless you give it a damn good reason not to be (I haven't found any). Maybe Nissan let the fun police go home early the day they developed it and allowed a bit of slip?
  5. First, Mr Amino doesn't speak good enough english, I have an intermediary. Love the Japanese, a friend of a friend and she's happy to help in any way she can! I'm happy to be the guinea rat, but will wait a couple of weeks till I have my exhaust in. Sounds like I'll have all the mods he wants to know about by then. I am keen to here more about Dust's HKS F-Con setup too... Who is actually interested in moving forward, given a cost of 44000-64000 yen? Think its Tonto, Scott and I? What size is everyones exhausts? Is everyone running the same sze?
  6. Yeah find out what you can, if they're cheap enough I won't bother bidding any higher on the auction and waiting months for these from Canadia by boat. Pretty sure I can get to Big Fella's place faster than you Aaron
  7. Damn. Doesn't play DVDs. Everything else looks good! I think I'm going to have to go with an AVX-77. Even a couple of forum sponsors told me thats all they could find in any of their catalogues. If you don't want Bluetooth though there are a couple of Pioneer, Kenwood and JVC options. Problem for me is deck + handsfree = same price as the JVC. So no point.
  8. Interesting... can you fit the 32mm R32 discs with R33 GTSt calipers? I'm winning a set of R32 GTR non-Brembos at the moment, so assuming they don't go over my budget I'll pick them up.
  9. Not too bad. See how I go, might do the R32 conversion instead of just new pads. Cheaper than I expected.
  10. Bidding on some R32 GTR calipers from Canadia. Anyone know what a full set is worth? Saw them come up and they're much cheaper than 350Z Brembos...
  11. So... remap might be useless later on when used with a piggyback?
  12. G-Zone want to know specifics of your setup, as many as they can get without actually physically having the car. Details are pretty much limited to intake/exhaust though, i.e. what air filter, exhaust, diameter of exhaust, intercooler upgrades, etc, and they supply your reflashed ECU according to these specs. They seem to know more about the cars than anyone else, and from my research seem to be good at what they do. I'm still sitting on the fence at the moment, second guessing a bit, but from what they're asking sounds like I should get the exhaust and front mount done first (my next two things) before I go with the flash, and that way I can supply them the exact pipe diameter, which they seem to want.
  13. Good aero mod... its not illegal, its just there for marketing purposes!
  14. To me a remap is never going to be the perfect solution. It's more for standard (or standard-ish) cars, and will usually give you more power for the same or less fuel. Except in this case where it gives you some freedoms. Then a standalone (or in our case, everything is a piggyback) will provide the tuning necessary for your mods, depending on your level of modification. The only reason for getting a G-Zone, by the sounds of it, is to get rid of the speed cut and throttle restriction.
  15. So am I completely wasting my time looking at the G-Zone remap, and should just look at Emanage?
  16. Yeah well I'm after a bit of everything. If I valued economy above all else I'd lift my foot As for the speed cut, I guess it doesn't matter, I just object to having a limit. I'm weird like that.
  17. Scott couldn't get it working with the variable valve timing? I'm leaning towards going the G-Zone way unless I can find something that tells me that either the Emanage or the Fcon will remove the restrictions. If they can I won't need to. If they can't I'll upgrade later and piggy back them on.
  18. Where are you getting emanage and harness for $600? Cheapest I've seen is $600 for the emanage (new), plus the harness for $100-150. And doesn't that still leave the throttle restriction and speed cut? Or is no one worried about either?
  19. When you put it like that, I guess its around the same price as an emanage and harness, but with the emanage you can't remove the throttle restriction or speed cut, and you still have to pay for the tune. Will the HKS eliminate either of these? My drama is no local tuner, but guess I could go for a road trip. Plus isn't the HKS really expensive? Like G-Zone + Emanage + Harness expensive?
  20. Ok so Mr Amino (the bloke from G-Zone) says removing the speed limiter is included, but removal of the throttle restriction is 15000-20000 yen. He also recommends having an external throttle installed? Does anyone know what he'd mean by an external throttle? I'm dealing with a Japanese intermediary who doesn't understand cars, so I'm guessing its not necessarily exact... So worst case scenario is 44000 yen for the flash and 20000 yen for the throttle restriction, so $720. Sounds like a win?
  21. Well it sounds like they're prepared to do custom maps, so I'm sure you can get whatever you want. But it sounds like they want to get it just right, might even make getting an emanage redundant for me for a while
  22. So I've been talking to G-Zone through a couple of intermediaries in Japan about doing a flash for an NM35 ECU. They can remove the throttle restriction and the speed cut, which is half way there. They're also going to provide a remap, however that depends on what is in the car. For example, before they can do it they want to know if I've changed the air filter, front pipe, centre pipe, rear exhaust and a bigger intercooler. They also want to know what diameter the exhaust pipe is. I should be getting the rest of the info soon. How many people would be interested in getting this done? EDIT: Looks like cost will be around $500 plus shipping! (Well, 44000 yen) But apparently there is a big difference between 80 and 90mm exhausts, and I'm not sure what implication this has for tuning?
  23. Yes. Clearly Iain is sober...
  24. M35? I've got one, and I wouldn't think there are too many pearl white M35s in SA...
