  1. You just dropped a level of coolness/respect in my books with that disgusting comment about sony being "pretty decent". They are a piss poor effort of sound gear. (kidding, not about the gear, just losing respect) Anyway. back to the OP. Yeah under the seats is an ok thing.. however if you got peeps in the back you could be constantly on guard that the dont kick them / the cables etc. Having them on the back of the seats is a pain for that kinda car ( on my s13 i had the subs behind the seat and the amps rebuilt into the boot. I think i have some pics up of it on my mygay account www.myspace.com/twizted_fate i think its under s14 sound system.. something like that. Anyway.. what i am thinking about doing for my stag, is taking the cheese wheel out and mounting the subs in there( i got some nice Rainbow V subs to put in), and possibly the amps in there too (however i got 2 x 2000 amp's sitting here at home so i doubt it will fit) but if they dont fit i will mod the side walls. Problem is until i get it and start ripping apart the back i wont know really. After market sound systems can be a bit of a pain to put in sometimes.. 15k spent on 1 car *shudders im an addict* but i thought it was worth it. remember to sound proof.. and think style too.. a dual non mounted sub box blows chunks.. think of intergration with the vehicle
  2. hi paul they do look pretty damn hot. So the mould your making up.. would the km/miles be switched around the other way (ie Km on the outside)? cheers
  3. hi chris, chris here... i think us brissie stag owners should get together for a bbq somewhere and a bit of a dribble. im sure when bob and myself get our cars on the road we would be interested.. although we could just hijack a few of the SAU QLD nights ( im a member still from when i had my r33)
  4. hmm ill get a quote too and see what i get, im over 25 now and havent done anything naughty in about 4 years.
  5. just a question to the OP.. what makes your RSV a nismo spec? its not just because you have a nismo sticker is it? or a nismo set of tachos or 1 or 2 bits of nismo gear? people like that piss me off
  6. Hi stagea peeps, I was looking around this forum section of ours and noticed a few people had done manual conversions to their stagea's. Not sure if im going to yet i really just wanna know the estimated costs / pitfalls etc on doing it darrinspencer, i noticed you had done it to your car and that your in brisbane, which guy did you do it through, perhaps he can point me in the right direction. anyway just curious at this stage, as i dont think getting a peddle, clutch, gearbox + covering is all i need to worry about. Perhaps just tell me what you came across and the total in cost... also mine will be a RWD not the AWD n.b: i have looked at DIY: Auto to Manual Conversion Guide - SDU DIY: Auto to Manual Conversion Guide - SAU those 2 posts but want to know personal experiences too
  7. just so you know.. if a mod see's this post it will be closed or deleted, you cannot post a for sale topic up on behalf of anyone. Also pictures and using the template that is supplied provides better response..
  8. i blame ginger ninjas. my new car should be in the country soon wheeee
  9. sitting around waiting for new owners, maybe in garages, in auction warehouses, maybe in warehouses. some sit outside in the rain if your not lucky.. just do a background check on the auctioneers etc if you want.
  10. yeah, i was a bit sad when i saw someone else driving away with my skyline. And i told him that he should join up to this forum too. So bobby has a point, i did look here first, but there was nothing i wanted for the price range / k's etc.

    Family Man

Im going to keep this post on topic as much as i can. The Stagea has quad airbags and a laundry list of saftey features. I dont see why i ( or the OP) has to get a camry to suit the needs. Wouldnt a Volvo be safer if we are purely looking at saftey since they have the whole 5 point safety shebang? Anyway gl with your decision, but i have gone to a few yards and people seem to go the nissan model cars for more bang for buck. dont reply to flame please. From the jap cars though for power / performance / family type cars i would go for Nissan or Mazda, mazda have a nice C series car out.. and suv http://www.mazda.com.au/Models/Current%20models/CX-7.aspx that is the lower model one above.. exepct to pay about the same amount second hand as the Forester XT 2005 ( about 25-30k) its onlt a 2.3 4 cyl turbo though... as i said.. nissan seems the best bang for buck
  13. i have loved manuals since dot.. All my nissan sports cars have been manuals. But this car is for fun but also just to be a bit more versitile. I honestly dont know if i will miss manual driving, but when i got into a tiptronic stagea i was not unimpressed. If it really gets to the point that i miss a manual that much ill just go out and buy a manual r32 again for some fun.. but i want it more for cruising now.. i have had my years of wasting bucks on cars ( my r33 i didnt spend as much on it as others thankfully). Most people who think they are race car drivers buy manuals and dont know how to change gears correctly so an auto would beat them off the mark anyway. Stagea's are not made for drift cars, so in my eyes a tiptronic is not a spit on what they are. If i was buying an R34 2door GT-T there would be no option.. it would be manual or nothing.
  14. another option if you dont want to save a few more bucks but have to wait more is get it imported. Gernally a 16-18k priced car in AUS with rego ( series 2) would cost you around 12-13k imported. remember you will need tyres + rego on that ( so thats about 1k there for some okish tyres and 6 months rego) so the car has cost you 13-14k, but for waiting 2-3 months you just saved yourself about 3-4k. Just remember importing a car is like doing it here, get check after check after check on the car. Then when you think its ok.. check it again. most importers offer a service like this... costs about 25,000 yen and you get over 50+ pics of the car and a mechanical test.
  15. hi team, I was going down the legnum track after selling my R33 - was going for black / leather / tiptronic / low k's etc. Was going to until i started looking up aftermarket parts for it ( or lack thereof). Then realised that there was oodles of support for my r33 so a r34 stagea would be just the same. With me with the stage a it was more the quality of the car and the k's. In all hindsight i would of loved and black / leather / tip or manual r34 but im getting a red one instead. Never had a red car before, but im sure ill either get use to it.. or respray it black.. the interior is getting retrimmed to black leather anyway. The price was cheap and is in 4.5 / 5 a/a condition so i was reallly impressed with that. I got over 50 pics of the car so i could see full details.. no rust and engine is good. also the one im getting is not listed in the O.P 4. 25t RS V Wagon FR AT Gasoline 2498 RB25DET GF-WGC34 $24900 is mine.. its the RWD RS-V.. i got to drive both 4WD and RWD at a local importer and i must say that the RWD one is a tad more fun
  16. i know GTST was after a skyline under 10k, you could fit the profile.. expect i do have a few queries. No roadworthy No pictures The link you sent amy was to a stupidly long post where people are asking for pictures, then eventually you send an engine bay pic from carsales. I did a carsales search for 1993-1994 skylines with 100k+ on the clock and could not find yours. is this is hope-that-people-buy-it-without-seeing-pics-and-no-roadworthy kinda bag? I hear being above board is better then not telling people why it wont pass roadworthy etc. Im sure its not your fixed bonnet or the smashed front lip. only saying this as i just sold mine and it was hard enough being straight with everyone. amazing how hard it is to sell the ol r33's. I had to sell mine way below market value and mine was in bloody good nic. 2 mechanics went over it and only said brake pads & a powersteering pipe would need replacing.

    Family Man

Hi Col, Yeah i am going though the same thing as the OP atm. After a saftey certificate on monday my r33 will be gone and i was looking for a bigger car but still fun. I did some research myself as well THe legnum i almost had the paperwork down to the the import. However after reading on www.clubvr4.com and www.ozvr4.com : 1. Hard to get after market parts for ( limited choice, apexi dont even make a pod for em ) 2. THe factory pipework makes it hard to do much at all to the engine 3.The turbos are quite small and it was discussed and stated that a TD04 or a single TD05 (evo turbo) was actually more powerfull then the twin ones in it atm ( so why bother with twin) 4.Its not as spacy as i thought. I took a 1998 EC35 VR4 legnum for a test drive about 1 week ago, it was a 1998 series 2 model one, leather interior blah blah and a manual. It honestly had not as much guts as i thought it would. also after looking at dyno sheets on the stock legnums, it only makes about 140-150 kwz at the wheels which was only 10kwz more then what my stock skyline did when it first got on the dyno. I also got to test drive a 1993 Astrio 3.0 ,on the inside it felt like i was driving a bloody camry. Also handled like it too. it was a 1993 and yeah twin turbo. It didnt really have much pickup and felt lacking on the handling. Havent really got to research too much into it, but since the parts are close to the supra im sure parts are available, however i just dont like em, bit roomier though but the seats would need an upgrade if you want to fang it around corners. I took a 2005 model XT luxury forester ( manual) for a test drive too about a month back, it had enough space for a +1 family but wow.. thats a wrx engine? it was GUTLESS.. i mean i know its a 4 not a 6, but damn i mas as well of been driving an X-Trail. It was all nice and NOT an import, but i wasnt prepared to make that much sacrifice on power ( although i will admit it could handle well). Im sure with some mods it would go harder, but im comparing apples to apples here. I have been test driving stock ones. Yeah took a 2006 Model Nissan X-Trail 2.5 for a spin too, bit bigger, bit roomier, no power, harder to handle.. to me thats a soccer mums car. So after much consideration, the way im going is a RS-V 1999 StageA, and i dont think i need to tell you if the GT-T r34 skyline equivilant is worth it Ill do 2 lists.. one for cost, one for power top to bottom. Power: 1. StageA RS-V 2. Aristo 3.Legnum 4.Forrester XT 5. X-Trail Cost: 1.Forrester XT (around 25k for what i wanted) 2. X-Trail (around 20k for what i wanted) 3.StageA (around 15k for what i wanted) 4.Legnum (around 14k for what i wanted) 5.Aristo (around 12k for what i wanted) before i get corrected on costs etc, please look at the year models i test drove and quoted prices on. Also all of those were imports bar the forrester and xtrail I know its a lot to read but i hope its helped a little mate.
