  1. Yikes! I don't wanna hack them off! And yes, mine's a stock series 2 wheel. I like the idea of relocating them further away
  2. Just to answer the topic title. "No. Never."
  3. A "dosser" in the UK is someone who sleeps on your couch for the night. I'm not sure where the pipe bit comes in though?
  4. I was going to suggest that, but then i'm not sure if I could condone lighting up the rears for testing. ;o)
  5. I used to do something similar with my V8. If I eased the pedal with the revs, it would speed up much more quickly rather than if I just planted my foot down. I'm still testing with the Skyline, and I think I feel what you are feeling... but not as obviously. Two thoughts... 1) Perhaps it just feels better because you're already moving some speed before you hit the pedal, and the sudden burst feels stronger? 2) Possibly this could have something to do with the maps in the ECU? You'd be on wide open throttle (TPS sensor), but at a low rev-range, and the AFM would be reporting whatever air it is currently building up. So at a guess there... perhaps your low-rev, high TPS areas of the ECU are rather rich and/or timing is quite retarded at that point? Dunno... i'm still trying to work out in my head whether this is myth or fact... whether it's a perceived feeling, or an actual difference.
  6. I think 300rwkw is going to be hard to do on a budget! Still, the kits that come with all the return piping sounds like the best bet. I'm still tossing this idea up myself, as I REALLY don't want to cut a hole in the car and start hacking parts of my cooling system. For now, i'm running the R34 GTT cooler in place of the stock cooler. I know what you mean about the GTR cooler being black, but a couple of thin coats of paint will make an aftermarket cooler look pretty stealth. Apparently 1-2 coats makes squat all difference to the surface's heat-transferring capabilities. Seems the best solution for what your requirements are.
  7. Well, it's not like he's around all the time though... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...?showuser=24760 I'd guess he's on holiday or just hardly ever visits SAU unless he's trying to source something. (out of 6 posts, 3 were in FS). Very low post-count for 1.5 years. Still, knowing that most banks won't let you pull out more than 1K from an ATM a day, i'd have probably been hard pressed to not trust him. Have you tried the "send email" button instead of the PM button in his profile?
  8. Does it have the Kenwood logo on the back of the boxes? If so, you've got some power wiring in your hands. If this holds true, then i'd guess the black and black/red are the power wires for the lightup Kenwood logo, and the grey ones are for left/right positive/negative. If you unscrew the boxes (6 screws underneath?) you can trace the wiring into the globes. Use the other wiring for the speaker hookup. Negative wires have the stripe on them. Grey/red could be the right-side negative for the speaker. Grey for positive Grey/blue could be the left-side negative.... you know the rest.
  9. hehe! Or you could just flick it on, then off, then on, off... etc... every one second. Then noone would be the wiser! =-] (except the guy who rams you because he didn't know what you doing at the roundabout) =-[
  10. The torque-split guage for the 4wd system? Is the system working properly? No light on the dash or anything? I guess what i'm asking is: Is the guage not working, or is the 4wd system not working and the guage is right?
  11. Timing light, yes. I think the R33 GTST's (like mine) are 15BTDC, and you could be right with 20 for your GTR. Check manual and then check timing. Rule that out first. =-]
  12. Might be worth pulling any fault codes out of the ECU? Providing you're running the stocker? Any mods?
  13. Sweet, Sam! As for aquadip, it might be a bit too fancy for what I want... gloss black. Also, I never entrust a business with my money if they can't spell things correctly. (Venders???) ;o)
  14. I'm the same. Up or down only. It's more complicated than that, and I think there's already a thread or two on this topic. (or possibly even a DIY guide?) Someone was looking into it with a relay in mind.
  15. I point and laugh at motorists that have a double-speed indicator on... Thinking to myself all the time "I bet they have NFI why that is happening" Resistance is my geeky friend. =-D
  16. hah! I hate this with a passion too! One way i've learnt is to gently veer left... using a little bit of the other lane if there is noone in it. Second way is to turn the wheel with my left hand, and keep my finger near the indicator stalk, and as soon as it flicks off, flick it on again. I've found that most other motorists don't notice the outage. For all the crap that Holden cops, I have to say that at least my '93 VP V8 Berlina had a decent indicator. It would make a click sound if you turned in the opposite direction to the way that you were indicating, but not cancel... after you turned in the direction of indication, then straightened the wheel out, it would then cancel. I'm sure it's just a tiny bit of mechanics to make this work like magic (for a manufacturer), but I doubt you could modify the existing Nissan stalk to do this. Oh god I hate it. I feel so embarrassed when it turns itself off. =-[ If you hold it up or down when turning, and you do what you're trying, it makes a HORRIBLE clicky crunchy sound, but stays on. I think something will break if you do that more than a few times though. It's the only bad thing about the car... but I use it heaps. Does Japan have roundabouts? Or do they just not indicate?
  17. lol! Jets that give you anti-gravity! You probably COULD reuse the button for some kind of DIY dual-boost button! But you'll probably get triangular puffs of smoke from your exhaust. ;o)
  18. sikSII, are you able to shift into 1st from 20kmph and above?
  19. I'm wondering if I should try this on the way home...! I can't recall any manual car i've ever driven of happily shifting into 1st unless the needle doesn't register on the speedo! So you can do it in your R32 GTR, and you could do it in your mates R32 GTST until it stopped working? I'm no "Dr Gearbox", but I think for money's sake you should probably stop doing it in your GTR incase it also magically stops doing it for ya. ;o)
  20. OK wicked. Perhaps people could post up the colour and make of the spray they're using? I have some clear, but I guess you don't know how good it is until the job is done.
  21. I found with some angled entry, it's fine. Same way you would take most driveways!
  22. I'm too slow! Two =-]
  23. Looks like a R32 GTST or GTS from the avatar?
  24. Also check fuse... not sure where it is, but '33s have fuses in the boot next to the battery, and under the bonnet in a black box. (of doom!) EDIT: and where your right-knee is when driving. Pop the little cover off. There is a handle kind of thing on it for you to pull on.
  25. lol, bam! My switch just gives me half-heigh or full-height when it is already coming up. If yours isn't working, i'd suggest that either it's not powered (check wire in the boot, in the rear quarter) or it's not hooked up to your head unit properly. It should go to a wire on your HU labelled "power cont" or "p.cont" or "antenna cont".. something like that. But NOT "remote", as i've heard a lot of people run it to that. If you set it up correctly, it should only ever come up when your turn your HU over to the tuner/radio. On CD it should bring it down, and the button on the dash has very clearly pictured a half triangle and full triangle. Thus, full heigh and half height. It won't make your antenna go completely down, nor will it make it go completely up if the HU is not on radio.
