Skyline R33 Series 2, Any Good?
CamGTS replied to alphabeatsco's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hmm are the R33 Skyline GTS25T any good? I've had my 1997 SII for 6.5 years, imported in early 2000 with 21,000km on the clock, besides a set of 18" Rims & K&N Panel filter its completely stock. Besides regular servicing and a clutch at about 95,000km, its now done 105,000km, I haven't had to spend a cent on it. Couldn't have hoped for a more reliable car that looks awesome (even after 6.5 years) and still out performs cars 3 times its worth. -

I'm glad your keeping it Bass. -
Guys, I'll pull my door apart on the weekend and figure out how its done and also see if I can find out a way to fix it, once I've done that I'll PM people. Stay tuned. PS I don't think an alarm will stop them breaking in as it didn't in my case. Cheers Cameron

I had my R33 broken into on the 2nd of Jan in Melbourne CBD, they seemed to know exactly how to get in as the actual lock wasn't touched, they used a method that I won't go into as I don't want to help others do the same. They stole my stereo and amp, luckily neither were worth very much, but to get the stereo out they did break the dash board. Any last night I was at Melb High and there was another R33 Skyline which I noticed had the same markings on it that indicated it had been broken into in the same fashion and looking in the window it was also missing its Stereo. So using my powers of deduction I'm tipping that these two aren't isolated cases, has anyone else had their skyline broken into recently in Melb. I'm sure there must be a way to stop how they are getting into the car, if anyone knows what I am talking about and has already figured out how to prevent it can they please PM me. An alarm doesn't seem to stop them.

I have Active LSD on my R33 SII GTS-25T and this is what I know about it and it aint much. The Active-LSD uses a computer to sense wheel slipage and diverts power to the aposing wheel rather than by mechanical methods, the main difference is the speed that is can tranfer power from wheel to wheel. 1/50 sec. It uses a similar system to the 4WD system on the GTR but only transfers power from side to side.

There are a number of different types of Immobolisers, or ways to de-activate them: Infra-Red Beeper (Standard everyday ones) Keypad (You need a pin number) Magnetic (Need to put a special device somewhere on the dash) Touch Point (You need to touch two parts of the car to form a circuit before the car will start) There are more ways but don't want to give away to much. Check out: www.carsafe.com.au

Might be worth you guys investigating immobilisers that don't use a infra-red beeper. I have two fitted (won't disclose where I got them from), both from different locations, only one of them uses the infra red beeper. So even with my keys they won't be able to start my car because with the keys they have only disabled one immoboliser and the second is still active.

His site details the entire weekend and the high's and lows: http://www.exvitermini.com/ and I was lucky enough to see it first hand on Saturday, unfortunately the 9.7 was run on Friday and all the run's on Saturday were a little dissapointing, BUT it was awesome to see this car running. The 4 wheel burnout was spectacular and the noise that the car made was nothing short of amazing. People were stunned and there was plenty of speculation amongst the crowd everytime it appeared. Hopefully they can sort out the problems and find the best way to get the 800+ kw to the ground, which hopefully should see an 8 sec pass not to shortly in the future. Good luck Mario

GTR on a Dyno, only rear wheels turn ?
CamGTS replied to ix9's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'm pretty sure (although my knowledge of this is limited) that with it is in permanant 4WD with probably a bias towards the rear. -

Heathcote Raceway - Mario GTR700
CamGTS replied to CamGTS's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
From Mario's site: GTR-700: I've been flat out trying to get everything sorted in order for the car to be able to race this weekend. I won't go into all the sordid details, but after just about everything conspiring against me, I have prevailed - and the car will leave tomorrow for Heathcote raceway. All I will say on the subject is that I've lost a lot of respect for a number of people over the past 24 hours. I suppose everyone lives and learns, but I can't accept bull**** excuses and there is only so much bending I will do before I break. That said, the car was completed tonight (thanks to Jim and the boys at Croydon Racing Development for working through the night to sort out various issues) and as a direct result, we will be able to run this weekend. I simply couldn't accept any other outcome than the car running, as I have worked too hard for too long to simply accept a "we can't do it" (or any other bull**** excuse) as there have been so many people who are making the journey out to Heathcote to see the car, and I won't let them down a second time, regardless of who's feet the blame really lies. A last note: Please recognise that this is really going to be only a shake down for the car. It has never been run in anger in its current set-up, so I don't want to even guess at an ET or MPH as yet. We are also crippled by the fact that the Goodyear Eagle 26"x10.5" slicks didn't arrive, so we will be forced to run with the Mickey Thompson 26"x8.5" ET Drag's, nor have we had time to change to the correct diff ratios. However, at this point in time, I am just happy that the car will make it down there and be able to run! Looks like I will be making the trip !! -

Sounds good I'll PM you my contact details. Also Mario has indicated that the clicks that he was getting will not be here in time and he is madly trying to find an alternative. Hopefully he will let us know if he won't be making it. -
