  1. so how does the pits thing work? is it like a defect station or what? Cause I have alot of stuff I was planning to fit while it was being complianced and serviced so I didn't have to pay someone all over again. what do they check for, emissions and stuff? I didn't think 89 model cars were under those sorts of rules mark
  2. I am scared now, hope you have more luck now. what is hobbs? what form do I need from them?
  3. I'd just wait and see. he might just be trying to put the fear of god in you I got defected on the spot when it happened to me, so did my mate. he might have been lazy mark
  4. good luck mate, I hope everything goes well from here on out. so you just faxed the forms and thats it? didn't post the originals down? mark
  5. This may be a stupid question. But I had my dereg emailed to me by my company and it is half a page(almost) little japanese writing with copy stamped across it. doesn't look right to me. is everyones like this? when should you recieve this B/L? my car arrives in november sometime
  6. It couldn't hurt to do both could it? Fax it first thing in the morning, and then around mid morning (tea break) send it via express post don't they need the originals if you fax it though?
  7. I got an email back from Jspec about customs and stuff this morning and it sounds like its all organised for me "Once the car arraives you will be sent an invoice from the customs clearance agents - this will include import duty, GST, port charges, etc... payment for this will need to be made into their local bank account before the car is released from the ports. You have to use a customs agent, it is not possible to lodge a customs clearance without a licenced agent"
  8. I am going through jspec for the car, I;m assuming the customs agent is different. who would you use in sydney? I don't want to waste time so they might be easier to use
  9. so you have to pay for the steam cleaning, and you have to pay storage fees? damn government. I was going to hire a steam cleaner for a week and do the entire car myself when it gets here
  10. so me being the first time about importing, are we talking about paying the person who imported the car? or the government fees and stuff. I have paid jspec in full the Car has been paid for in full I think the only things I have owing when it arrives is the government/ customs charges? maybe shipping. totals around 5K left to pay do u get a bill when the car arrives or something?
  11. don't say that. would we be covered if something like that happened though?????
  12. but the only problem is I called race brakes for a quote aswell and they tell me the GTR needs 2 for each wheel and a mounting block for the front so the front is 420 and the rear is like 240 wil be leaving this for a while and getting it done properly I think
  13. ok. I don't think I have anything like that in the car. it was pretty standard apart from the wheels. steering wheel. I am anxous now. I don't want to wait. I am going to have to try and get time off work to go an pick it up and stuff now. thisi s going to be a hassle. work is a bastard, they don't give time off for anything
  14. ok, I am now really really really really worried. I was slightly before but now I am panicking the wheels wouldn't go missing would they? they couldn't leave it on bricks could they?? I have a set of Volk 5 spokes that look hot on it and are worth like 3K new according to a brochure from MU secret. apart from taht the rest is standard apart from the head unit. no gauges or anything should I be this worried? do I ask the importer what day the car will be arriving here in aus? do customs call you to say the car has arrived come and get it? I hate this waiting process, never again
  15. thanks chris called them today and they said $70 percorner(1 each wheel) to buy them. $280 in total is this a fair price you think? sounds cheap enough. I tend to buy something though and find that I can get it cheaper elsewhere thanks guys
  16. damn why don't the aussie government take the damn hint then and realise that there are so many jap cars here and being imported, that instead of making those puncy looking euro plates, make jap styled plates, they can make more money! just my suggestion mark
  17. obviously you know the pods are illegal aswell? maybe as a side note try and make an enclosure so if a cop pops your hood you can keep them out of site don't know about the GTR one's really but the GTST one is loud with a pod

  23. Hey guys well its almost time for the new beast to arrive and I'm just looking at the last few things that may need doing. I was thinking about repacing the old brake lines with braided ones. does anyone have these on there GTR? and did it make much difference also if anyone can recommend a good place to get the ADR approved ones(if there is such a thing) and rough costs cheers mark
  24. how long does it take for the car to arrive in sydney once they put it on the boat? I was going to send my Approval express post. if the car is due to be imported for November this year, when would you send the approval form. a few days before the beggining of the month? send express and make sure it arrives there on the 1st of november? cheers mark
  25. In my last car which was a 93 32GTST, I had the following Pioneer entry level head deck (was like 280 on special) Boston acoustic 6.5" front speakers 3way I think (good for 250) Pioneer 6.5" 2way (150) Alpine V series amp 300wats (330) all fitted I think my system was just over 1k and I was happy with it. this time just wants the splits in the front and maybe better quality stuff. thanks for the suggestions
