with $5K flexible suspension budget (assuming it's just for the shocks/springs and arms and bars etc are on top) then I would go straight for some MCA (murray coote automotive) which are built mostly from Proflex parts. The only downside is being in NZ you don't have the option of getting him out to the track with you to further the set-up but most people in aus don't do that anyway. You just need to tell him what the car is for, what you want and he will build something good for you. Murray Coote Automotive (07) 5494 8177 144 Lower Mt Mellum Rd Landsborough QLD 4550

Needing Advice Please

lol. there is a bit of confusion here me thinks. guys, nolan was the bloke posting the blatant spam/advertising. his post has since been edited by ADMIN (aka me) due to a number of complaints/reports from users. read the post, it's targeted TO Nolan. not from Nolan. anyway, enough of this. we are going around in circles here. This thread is now closed. as a favour to our collective sanity. -
lol. love it. poor ze-tool. no doubt he came back to the pits for lots of hugs and a cup of cocoa. definitely not his fault. button was braking early (how dare he be cautious into a wet corner that had just caught a whole bunch of drivers out), and then there's the bumps. poor seb. it was only his amazing skill that saved him from ending up on his lid. all that sawing at the wheel under brakes must have helped steady the car.

well done. yeah the swift springs are well priced and top quality. they make springs for F3 etc and I think even F1 at certain points in time. http://www.swiftsprings.com/history.html the 04 24hr le man winning audi used swift spings... and it's not cause the audi budget was too small for a set of eibach's i'm sure... have a look at this and you will see why not all springs feel the same. you can buy 2 sets of say 8kg springs and one can feel completely different to the other. look at how much some springs rates change under compression. and also how differently they rate springs. http://www.swiftsprings.com/advantage.html -
ok, big aussie flag. I'm onto it brother. now that webber is doing well they probably sell them on every second street corner in any town that a GP is at. back when he was a minardi driver or jag driver you'd be lucky to find a webber cap or shirt even in bloody melbourne! definitely planning a 2 man victory march if webber can give us a win in monza. I say we head to the bookies and wager the nights drinking fund on a webber win. if he wins we now have plenty of funds to get loose. if he loses we hang our heads in shame and slink quietly out of italy.
-
troy monza is going to be a webber victory! We are not going all the way to monza to see some big mac take it out. I want to see webber win so we can get loose in milan with our own 2 man tifosi style legion, marching all round the place in our corked hats and drizabone's drinking VB long necks.

yes ze-tool proved again that whilst he can drive fast, he cannot 'race'. his overtaking moves are always over aggressive and usually only come off because the other bloke doesn't want to get taken out and lets him have the place. whenever someone decided to make him work for it (like webber did once) sure enough they get taken out. this case though was just typical poor driving. weaving around all over the place on a damp track and then just nurfed button. typical ze-tool luck sees it happen literally meters from the pit entrance so in reality he didn't lose much at all as he was able to use it as his pit-stop. fortunately with the penalty and puncture he finally got his just deserts. he is just plain crap. I mean he ran into webber under the bloody safety car. he knows how to punch out a quick lap but that's it. he has no regard for anyone else on the track. anyway webber did well to keep a cool head and hang in there after dropping back so far off the line. he was able to keep it clean and capitalise on mistakes all around him (kub over shooting his box, ze-tool crashing, button being crashed into) and very nearlly got the win with hamo on the gravel and kissing the barrier. 9 times out of 10 that little 'off' would result in a retirement or at least a bunch of time lost but the gods sure smiled on hamilton to get him through the gravel without getting stuck and to get him past the wall without ending up with his front left wheel buried in the tyres. very very lucky. like roy said that would have been perfect for webs. all his top rivals with no points and him with max points from the win. spa is such a great track. always worth watching regardless of what's happening in the race.
-
awesome race. I nearly cried when webber dropped to p6 off the start. but what a result. p2 with ze-tool out of the points, button and alonso out of the points and only hamo in p1 to spoil it a bit. 2 years ago who would have thought that P2 would be considered a bit of a disappointment for a webber finish! lol, back then we were stoked to see him get some points of a top 5... anyway, spa is awesome. can't wait to hack my way around it....

yes, definitely get some adjustable cam gears before the tune so they can be adjusted too when it's tuned. as far as brand. envy imports in sydney make good ones. they use standard gears that they cut the centre out of and fit an adjustable piece. this is good as the outer parts is still factory (steel and strong). some alloy gears suffer from the teeth wearing but these wont. and with 5 fasteners they shouldn't slip either. apart from those I also like the tomei and trust gears. other workshops around also make their own using standard gears like envy does too, as long as they are made properly they are a good option. -

yeah the carbon products offer smoothness but they also have different heat handling capability. but like I said for a car being used as a track car and fun road car there is no need for the extra expense unless you have money to spare (no one with a GTR does!). I do really like carbon clutches though. the ATS carbon twin plates for GTRs are amazingly good to use. probably the best GTR clutch I've used. -
Help Inporting A R33 Gtr
Beer Baron replied to dodgen's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
yeah I can help you. I'm selling my R33 GTR which is complied and registered so you can drive it on the road. as for good looking I reckon it looks pretty tough, has some nice body bits on it and nice SSR wheels. and as far as track use goes it has massive AP brakes front and rear, oil cooler, power FC, HKS hipermax suspension etc all the basic upgrades ready to go. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Bc...46#entry5395746 -

yeah don't write off the POV 1.5 just yet. they are pretty good and certainly easy to use and get good results out of. -
honestly it will be easier to just get the trust R32 GTR duct mounted kit. it goes in the passenger side duct (no room in drivers side with factory BOVs), it includes the right lenths of earls -10 hose (all pre-cut and assemlbed), it has all the right earls fittings, it comes with brackets to mount the core, it comes with a good quality engine take off plate (complete with sender ports), it comes with remote filter mount which has a built in thermostat and more pressure and temp sender ports and the brackets to mount it neatly too. plus they have a very good quality core (not earls). only the fittings and lines are earls, everything else is trust specific (core, take off, filter mount, etc). yes they cost money. around $1000 but you get a lot for that money and they are a snack to fit compared to having to measure and cut lines yourself. plus it doesn't take many -10 earls fittings to work up a few hundred bucks just in those (kit has 8 fittings in it average about $40 each).

forget a carbon diff. for the kind of power and usage it's not needed. nothing wrong with putting the nismo clutch upgrade kit into your current standard rear 2 way LSD. at ~$330 for the clutch disks and couple hundred to have them installed and set-up it's a great budget mod. it'd been good enough for both mark and russ in the 32 and 34 (34 uses different stuff now though). and also good enough for plenty of other circuit and street GTRs. definitely go half cage if a full cage is out of the equation. bond make quite affordable half cages, get one welded in. they are not too intrusive and the rear seats in a GTR are useless anyway. -

I know guys think the ikeya arms are just a price tag and a sticker but they are actually a big improvement over other brands. well the R32 front lower control arms are in particular. of course rear traction rods nothing special (very simple arm), rear lower arms are good but nothing out of this world (but very tough), front upper arms are very basic (not adjustable for R32 either), rear upper arms again nothing too fancy. but for those arms the prices are not much more than other brands. that $5K price list for a set of arms is full whack retail I'm sure. I don't think I've ever paid near that for a set even with the SHIT AUD right now. -

agree with that. one thing I forgot on my list. cam gears for the stock cams. get them tuned and you can pick up as much as 25kw mid range and maybe 5 or 10kw top end. on a GTR making around 260-280kw. for anything up to 300kw (and many would say up to 350kw) stock cams with adjustable cam gears on both cams is the way to go. it can make a big difference to how the car drives. agree with brake master stopper. even the mega bling cusco one is less than $200 and works very well. -

for springs for your flag R ohlins the best choice is Swift. japanese made springs and top quality. also fairly light which is important. if on more of a budget cusco make suitable springs in every size, weight and length you could want. there are also locally available options from eibach etc. but for me the swift are no 1 with cusco the best value. they are no where near as expensive as some might think. for front LSD go for cusco RS 1way/1.5way (set up as a 1 way, can switch it to 1.5 way later if you desire). best value of the aftermarket front GTR diffs and super strong and reliable. -

I think you might be thinking front sway bar? on a lot of cars the factory front swaybar is HUGE and promotes understeer so guys go stiffer in the rear and leave front stock, or even remove the front. I guess people could do it rear too but I wouldn't. the R32 needs more rear bar for sure. stock is puny. the ikeya stuff is definitely worth the money. hold a set of their front R32 lower control arms next to a set of SPL or cazman etc and you will see some big points of difference. one thing pics don't convey well is the sheer size of the bar and rod ends used in the ikeya gear. also use proper 3 piece rod ends with nice forged eyes instead of the cheap chinese cast ones most brands use. -

there is actually a big advantage to defi gauges. they have adjustable warning buzzer and lights and the option of massive shift light sized warning light for important warnings (like no oil pressure) they have a recording function. ever try checking your oil and fuel pressure at 200km/h through turn 1 at eastern creek.... not easy. much easier to do 2 hot laps, head to the pits and replay the gauges to determine if you are suffering oil surge anywhere or fuel pressure drop. they are very easy to set-up and install and have ALL external sensors so no fluids or gasses plumbed in cabin. yes they cost more but they are worth more and will last a bloody long time. I've had one set for over 6 years with no failure what so ever and they can be easily moved from car to car.
