    Ferrari's

Different philosophies at work Scuderia Ferrari sell road cars to fund their racing ambitions. Pure and simple. This is why Tifosi are so fanatical Nissan create the best road going cars they can as that is their primary focus. Their racing ambitions come secondary. This is extremely common (think Mercedes/AMG, Porsche/RUF, Nissan/Nismo, Holden/HSV, Ford/FPV etc). These manufacturers only do racing to get prestige among certain market segments. You cannot compare the two. Ferraris, Lambos, etc, are wild to rock on a track, but you try to reverse them into a parallel park, or even an angle park, you'll be swearing more than a pissed sailor on shore leave... Some perspective should be used when comparing any Brand, let alone models. Their motives determine what kind of car they produce.... for good or bad.. -D

  13. Hiyas Not sure if there are any others out there interested in astronomy, but next sat the south australian astronomical society is having an open night at stockport http://www.assa.org.au/facilities/stockport/ Stockport is approx 1 hr north from gawler, so around 2 hrs on average from most suburbs in Adelaide... they have 3 telescopes which are available for public viewing, but for a cost - There is no need to book - just turn up on the night at the advertised starting time On public viewing nights, tea, coffee, biscuits and cold drinks can be purchased, and a sausage sizzle is run in the undercover BBQ area. Entry Costs: Adults: $7 Children under 15: $3 Members of assa : Free I'm heading up there from my place around 6pm Sat the 13th If anyones keen on coming for the cruise and the open night, pls pm me and ill give you the meet details Notes: It can get extremely cold at Stockport - both in winter and summer. This isn't helped by the fact that you will be relatively immobile during the night! If you are travelling to Stockport, we recommend that you bring a jumper, warm jacket, a pair of gloves and a beanie. Wear more layers of clothes than you think you will need. If you get too warm, you can always take them off. Bring some insect repellant. The thirsty mosquitos can make for a very unpleasant observing experience, particularly at dusk. White light is not permitted during viewing nights. White light affects the ability for your eyes (and everybody else's) to dark adapt. If you want to bring a torch, please ensure that it is covered with a red filter (such as red cellophane). <-- I will personally kerb stomp anyone who breaks this golden rule That said, I'm looking forward to the drive to and from, as well as the display. -D

  19. Awesome We'll be there, probably like you not as many cars, but it'll be good to see you guys and shoot the shit. My cars in the panelbeater atm, so if I make it I'll have some decent looking panels and paint but the interior will be my letdown this year Stick around past 4pm, stay for the presentation, and sink some beers with us, and we'll represent the Nissan banner with pride -D
  20. Yeah I saw a whole bunch of awesome restored classic street machines roll past the HJ's in sefton park (probably smasa judging from rubys post that they were meeting in northpark). Really nice selection of cars There was a single white r33 there too lol - anyone from here? -D

    Brake Pads

ive never had any problems with it... what technical reason would you not use a1rms? They work in the same low temperature range as the hpx's would like to know, as these are good pads for street use imho - way better than the bendix ultimates they replaced -D

    Brake Pads

    Brake Pads

i'd love to see a few comparisons with the a1rm vs the ds2500 and the project mu's seems theyre all up the top echelon, but the reviews come from people who havent directly compared the pads against each other food for thought -D
  24. Sadly, you're pissing into the wind with shuttles They had the right idea with their radiator being attached to the case but what you'll need to do is a) reverse the flow of the fan so its sucking COLD air into the radiator rather than using the existing hot air and pushing it thru the radiator out the case b) get a second fan so it runs in push/pull configuration c) get an 80cm to 92cm adaptor if you can engineer it into the xpc Ultimately, I got rid of shuttle for 2 reasons - crap customer support (mobo died, they wouldnt replace it under warranty because I'd modded the case - WTF. and they wouldnt let me buy a motherboard by itself either) as well as the fact once u put a beefy videocard in there, summer is almost impossible to keep it cool properly. -D
  25. Not very impressed with shannons Called up last sunday to report my accident and was assured that an assessor would be out the next day to have a look at it. Car got towed by shannons to the workshop on the Monday. Was assured that provided I get the approval in time, I should be able to get the car fixed before the Riverland car show. Workshop was able to price the parts and labour by the Wed, and they had the quote faxed to shannons on thursday. Heard nothing from Shannons since I'd called them on the Sunday (poor service!) so I called up yesterday to see what was going on... Shannons could not find the quote (aka the douche on the phone was adamant they didn't have it), so I called up the Workshop who resent the quote. I called Shannons back straight away and spoke to the consultant on the phone who confirmed it had came in straight away, and that there would be a delay of >2 weeks< before getting an assessor out there. I told the guy this was unacceptable based upon what I was told on the Sunday (and given the fact that it had already been a week). Was told he would do what he could for me. Again, no call back from any shannons rep. Called again today. Got possibly the dumbest call centre operator who said they couldn't do anything to speed up the assessor. At this stage I was getting pretty pissed off and told him that I was unimpressed with the lack of service and requested to speak to a manager. He told me it wasn't possible since the manager was on the phone. I told him I would wait. He told me that the manager was going to be a long time. I asked him why he thought the manager would be a long time. He didn't have an answer, but came back with a weak response about how to make a complaint. I told him I didn't want to make a complaint, that I wanted to speak to his manager and that I would wait on hold. After 15 minutes of being on hold, it turns out instead of transferring me to his manager, he transferred me to the assessors department, where I finally got to speak to someone who wasn't completely useless. She made an appointment for an assessor to go out this coming thursday, 1.5 weeks after originally placing the claim. It seems I have the same assessor that writeoff had, so I'm hoping that I don't get screwed around by their incompetence. I think its pretty shithouse that a company that says 'they put the car first' don't even bother to pro-actively contact their customers, nor do they have an acceptable assessment time. Justcars, AAMI, SGIC and RAA all have assessors on site within 48 hours, and they're supposed to be lesser insurers than shannons. I think I'll be getting a quote from H2P later on. Can't go to justcars (because they suck - no agreed value) and I'm seriously unimpressed with Shannons. Given the fact we generally pay $1-2k per year on our cars, doesn't that entitle us to some basic service? You know, like calling the customer and keeping them informed. I had to call back several times due to the incompetence of the people in the call centre not knowing their own procedures... When you take this into account, as well as the dramas writeoff has had over the last year, I have to say I'm rather disillusioned with Shannons and their so called 'premium insurance' End rant. -D
