ok you're going to hate this, but i've done a bunch of research about fan based cooling back when I used to mod and sell Shuttle XPC's...and theres no easy answer Some fans push more air at lower pressure than they do at high pressure, and vice versa. This is strictly dependant on the amount of fins on the fan, the size, depth, and the shape of them... and theres no 'golden rule of thumb'. Noise is directly proportional about how much pressure the fan has to push the air thru In other words, for a push/pull setup you'll want some fans that can move a fair amount of air at low pressure - this will also mean they're quiet by default, however there is >also< extra noise generated due to heatsink/radiator turbulence i have 2 matched 80mm fans in push pull config which came with the cooler pack. These are running at 1500rpm each on idle but can scale up to 4000rpm when it gets ultra hot - which gets noisier, but nowhere as near as some other fan coolers out there. I used to use silenX fans but they just dont push enough air, (aka ultra low pressure fan only). Steves suggestion of Noctua fans isnt bad, but they are a higher pressure fan, so I wouldn't use them in a push/pull setup - they would however be good for using a resistor and mounting them as case intake/exhaust - the scythes have a lot more lower pressure fans, but for my money I go with the coolermasters, which have 120mm fans that do 44cfm @ 19dba @ 1200rpm, and you can get a 4 pack of their 120mm's for $25 from pccasegear. I have the cpufan sucking air in from the rear of the case, with a 180mm exhaust fan on the top, a 180mm intake fan on the side, 180mm intake on the front, the power supply venting hot air directly out the rear, as well as the videocard. The 180mm fans are setup with an RPM controller which is turned to minimum most of the time, but i expect as those 40'c days roll in I'll have to put it up to max. I have the pump for the watercooler running off the CPU fan header, which is set to 100% all the time (as you want the water flowing and its quiet enough) and the two push/pull fans are connected to the chassis fan headers, which has intels 'qfan' technology turned on to vary the speed depending on cpu temp. Just make sure you find what fan is getting pushed thru (cfm, rpm and dimensions) and see if u can get a matching pair - if they dont match, you'll get unnecessary turbulence, which will put one fan under more strain than the other -D

Yeah. Theres not much you can do to make stock fan combos quiet. Getting 80-120mm adaptor plates used to be the rage until push/pull combo fan stand up heatsinks came into play (which is what the H70 is, but with a radiator rather than heatsink). Other thing is, rather than getting existing hot air inside the case and pulling that thru the HSF/radiator, new philosophy is to bolt it to the rear of the case and suck cold air in thru the rad and exhaust thru the top of the case/blowhole. I looked at the coolit ALC website, looks like they still have theirs setup as an exhaust setup rather than intake -D

Switch to watercooling ;P Edit - also, most motherboards have intel q-fan disabled by default so the stocker runs 100% rather than scaling down. -D

My cpu and vidcard, mobo and ram are over a year old but they still perform reasonably well Coolermaster Storm Sniper Black case ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 Mobo Intel i7 920 Quad Core 2.6Ghz Corsair H70 Watercooled cpu block Revodrive 50gb, 540MBps read, 480MBps write 2TB WD Green HDD 1TB WD Black HDD OCZ DDR3-1600mhz 12gb (6x2) ATI Radeon HD4790 1GB OCZ 850watt PSU Can upgrade the cpu and vidcard next year/whenever I need... as it stands I run stock cpu speeds and still never use more than 20% -D

yep thats with a watercooled cpu setup, idle temp is 25'c. never has exceeded 38'c in any stress test yet, but the real test will be those adelaide 45'c days -D

Absolutely. He's bent over backwards over the years and stayed back way past trading hours to help me in dire times of need. One of the most honest, genuine men in the business, with experience and skills to boot. -D

I'm sure you'll be able to source a z32 board with ease. Nistune is an excellent piece of kit, and shaun @ boostworx happens to be one of the best nistune 6 cyl tuners in sa (not my opinion, this comes from pl @plms who tunes sr20s often) as for mechanics, i stick with gil cameron @ road n track due to his absolutely amazing extensive amount of skills and knowledge hes not an import/jap specialist but the amount of stuff he knows is quite astounding, and he is a very skilled artisan. the only downside is he gets booked out for a long time in advance to work on sprintcars, formula vee and kovacs racing ute, so you'll be lucky if you can get an appointment. -D

+1, I use boostworx as my nistune tuner and road and track (literally a street over) to do my mechanical work best of both worlds really -D

my 2c is to check commonly worn items, stuff like bushes and rubber components get the suspension checked at pedders for $14 to see if theyre still doing their job if you have a car with a ceramic turbo, it could be worth replacing with a steel turbo dont skimp on brake pads or rubber, anything to do with handling and stopping, or safety in general is worth keeping in optimum condition service the car every 3 months religiously, make sure you have a good ADR approved alarm/immobiliser as well as comprehensive insurance follow these points and the ones that the others have already put down, and you'll be happy as larry 34's are fortunately still young (well younger than a 32/33) and are a little more reliable than some of the older vehicles. be aware that they are shit magnets (police defects, car thieves) so be smart about how you drive and where you park it -D

bosch is a solid reputable brand most of the problems with walbros (as I see it) are the non genuine knockoffs that fail or don't flow to the required specification. The walbro high volume pump does around 255lph @ 3bar if I recall correctly which is slightly more than a stock gtr pump, however the bosch 040 runs a bit less (240lph) but it pumps it more consistently. Only downer with the 040 is the need to modify the cradle - top quality units tho. I ended up with walbro just cause I needed one right then and there and Boostworx had one in stock - seems to do the job! -D

You need to have a briefcase filled with yen and give it to RBWARE. Only then can you be a member of the SAU sticker club -D

I have non adjustable bilstein and tein coilovers as well as stock rear upper control (camber) arms - you'll need to get bushes for it tho -D
-
You can also buy garrett actuators for $250 a pop, 14psi or 21psi -D
-
the walbro is a drop-in-cradle replacement, physically its smaller but comes with a rubber surround that takes the diameter to the same as the stock pump there is a wire and plug supplied which needs to be wired up but its a small matter of using two solders or braid, then it should just plug back together there is no secondary earth on the walbro pump but its not required, esp if u have a pfc or are doing the 14v pump mod or bypassing the fuel pump regulator -D

Boostworx or Road & Track Dyno can both do the job, theyre both in Cavan too. -D

For a really good detail, call Tony from "Prestige Car Care" He used to work for Lexus detailing their cars, and I get him to do my detailing before any major show I attend - top job at a decent price. Tony - 0413 459 087 -D -
FS set of teins non adjustable suspension, very stiff, $500 with some minor damage that doesnt affect the shocker set of bilstein non adjustable suspension, stiff, $600 both to suit r32 gtr / gts4 -D
