  1. She's a beauty Cara. Just a shame she has no Turbo
  2. I think it was like a red mid 80's magna or sigma. I didn't get much of a look cos the roller door was pretty much draped over the car when it came all the way in. I was just judging that by the shape of the front of the car. The whole front of the car would have been completely f**cked, windscreen and all cos there was a shit load of broken glass every where. Here is a rough diagram of what happened. http://users.on.net/~kalel/ram_raid
  3. I live in Woodville park, pretty much just up the road from woodville bowl. I think we so need to set up a sting operation on these pricks and then teach them a lesson they will never forget. I spoke to my Cousins that were around just before hand and both of them saw them as they left looking really suspicious and they had the bonet of the car up. There was no soubt that it was pre-meditated. I am just glad my cousins kids were not here, cos they were going to stay the night until one got sick. It could have been a lot worse than it was. I won't doubt that they will have another go in a couple months probably. This time I am going to have my shit ready for them. Luke (Heslo): I did sleep on the couch last night in the house with one of my martial arts weapons at the ready just in case they decided to come back for round 2.
  4. Hey Kids! This just in! I live in a house which is completely surrounded by a 7ft iron fence with a roller door fro access on the side where we park our cars. Two guys waited 10 min for my cousin to leave and saw my mum alone on the street. After she closed the door they fired their car up and drove straight through the roller door missing my car by mere cm's. As soon as I ran out the house they backed up through the neighbours fence across the road and took off. Didn't get a rego, my mum was freaked and worried that they would run me over. I reckon they thought that she was alone and an easy target. they would just force her to give them the keys. They were probably casing my place and my neighbour cos he has a skyline which he sometimes parks on the street, or they could have seen me driving up my street. Moral of the story, no ones car is safe, even inside a compound! Get Alarms, Immobilizers and a wheel brace. Man when are the a**holes gonna get their heads kicked in. This is getting rediculous. I asked the cop what could I do to basically defend my property and myself, and she basically said 'reasonable force'. When I asked what's reasonable, there was really no answer. The law is completely screwed! Crims have no respect for their victims, yet society is suppose to respect them. I say string 'em up with a noose or cut thier hands off. that will teach them.
  5. Great cruise guys! Lot's of fun except for the delay in Birdwood which kinda sucked. Thanks to Steve for organising it though!
  6. sorry to hear what happened man. I hope they throw the book at them. knowing the courts they will get a slap on the wrist. Man if you had a mini base-ball bat to defend yourself you would get busted so big time. that's where it's wrong. They should cut a hand off these pricks that will teach them and if they do it again, cut the other off too. That will start to deter these bloody idiots. bring back capital punishment I say, they are so asking for it. but before you do, get rid of the psychologists that will protest against it cos it might scarr them psychologically. a*holes
  7. So are we meeting at TTP or where is near TTP? Cheers
  8. There is a used tyre place on Grand Junction road, just after Hanson road when heading toward the hills. It's a yellow building. I think it is on the corner of wingfield road and grand junction
  9. just go to any auto elec and they will give you something that that will suit. I had battery probs. They took the old out and put one the same size just more cranking power in for $105. Does the job.
  10. Yeah up for the cruise. Not into the photo thing though. Would be interested to watch it though and check out hte equipment.
  11. Thanks for the comments guys. Feel free to download whatever ones you wish.
  12. Hey Guys! I know I have been slack (busy too) and Autosalon was like a month or so ago, but here they are in their 90% finished form. Why 90%? cos I can't be arsed going in and doing the last 10% of touoch ups; plus I have more than enough work on my plate atm. I hope you enjoy them, they were fun to take and I will look forward to doing some more next year. please remeber that they are copyrighted so you know the rules. http://www.physics.adelaide.edu.au/~dmcintos/as.html sau cruise can be found here too http://www.physics.adelaide.edu.au/~dmcintos/sau.html P.S. I am not sure how long I am going to keep them up for. They do take up a bit of space. cheers
  13. first start by nailing down your budget= camera+memory card (~2 GB) + spare battery. then you try and get those items and stay in your budget. here are a couple I would recommend at different price ends. http://www.canon.com.au/products/visual/ca...italixus75.aspx http://www.canon.com.au/products/visual/ca...owershotG9.aspx prob ~$800 As for depth of field, well what howie says is not 100% correct. Many point and click cameras will, to maintain a fast shutter speed and prevent blurry photos in many lighting conditions, set the aperture (f number) to as wide as possible (f=2.8 for example) to allow as much light onto the sensor and give a faster shutter speed. The consequence of this is that you loose the depth of field. You can over ride this if you have a manual mode in your camera where you can tell it what aperture stop you want (say f=8) which will result in a slower shutter speed. This can be compensated for by setting a high ISO and or using a flash. So to cut a long story short, work out your rough budget, then find a camera and accesories that will fit inside that budget and give you the most options for your camera. Just remember Megapixels is not everything! a good lens will out do any number of Megapixels with in reason. Canon make their own lenses and are really good. Panasonic use the Leica DC-Vario lens which are also good Sony use the Carl-Zeiss (but you pay for it cos it's Sony and is not necessarily as good as the others) Hope this helps. If you have any further queries PM me. I do work as a photographer so I have a bit of an idea about these things. It's always good to ask people in the know, that's the only way you learn about things!
  14. Yay, I got got the first post event post by virtue of the fact I live pretty much next door to the Bowling Alley! LOL Yeah, That was Lame! Nah, It was a great night everyone! Good meal and Great Entertainment. Good to see new faces too. Already looking forward to the next one! Thanks for the great time everyone!
  15. Welcome mate! That is a sweet ride you got there! I would love something like that but I am too paranoid about getting defected. Never-the-less it looks fantastic though!
  16. Miss_r34: you are right. Unless you start having extra lights an stuff in your car. extra glowing gauges or something. I think mostly it is trivial garbage. You see some of the bombs driving on the road. I wouldn't even let a crash test dummy in one. I can see the view point of the police and legislation though given what some people do to their cars. like that girl in the laser on the last sau cruise who apparently didn't have any brakes but had a beefed up turbo for it. go figure!
  17. I copied and pasted this from the legislation that was linked to previously Division 13—Interior lights 107—Interior lights A vehicle may be fitted with interior lights that illuminate any interior part of the vehicle. The way I read it is that you can have what ever interior light you want to illuminate the interior of your vehicle, providing it does not eminate from the inside of your vehicle thus causing a distraction to other motorists. I guess that they don't want people to be able to to give the appearance of being an emergency vehicle or undercover cop car. Which is fair enough. I think to have different colour dash lights would be fine or other interior light, providing it does not cause a distraction to other motorists. Now what we deem to be a distraction and what someone else deems to be a distraction are two different things. Since it is the police that enforce the legislation, I guess it is up to them ultimately. One could argue that the flash on the front of a mobile speed camera vehicle goes against what is in the legislation, but I am not going there.
  18. Hey there! HELP ME PLEASE BEFORE I GET RIPPED OFF! I have tried looking in the maintenance forum, but I haven't been able to find what I am looking for. Most of the indicators in the dash a rather self explanatory, but there is one in particular which is between the oil and the battery I think. It is red and looks like a square thing with some wavy lines. I would be much appreciated if someone could clear up exactly what each of the dash indicators means. I can suss the handbreak etc, but the others I am trying to work out what they mean. The one I described in particular flashes when I start my car. I haven't noticed it do that before so I am hoping it is not the alternator. I borrowed one of those battery testers with alternator check and it said my alternator was fine. I just want to get a feel for what is going wrong (battery or whatever) before I go to an auto elec and get ripped off. I am not that cluey with cars but I am trying to learn. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys!
  19. I might ask my cousin what's going on. He is a systems admin for EDS who handle the governments computer infrastructure.
  20. Sorry to hear what happened dude. What they did was plain and simply wrong. I don't believe that there is a law that requires you to have a SA drivers liscence in order to register a vehicle here. If it did I am sure they would ask you for your licence details on the rego form. In fact, if it were the case then I am sure the motorreg sa wouldn't have let you register the car in the first place and by doing so they have broken the law if that were the case. I would be tempted to get some form of legal advice. try the transportsa website for the legislation. I do know that if you have been living in a state on a semi permanent basis for longer than 3 months that you are required to surrender your interstate licence and rego plates and get a state licence and rego plates for the state you are residing in. If you are just coming back for a week here and a week there, then you shouldn't have to have an SA licence. If you spend the majority of time in NT then you would not be allowed to have an SA licence. In fact I don't think that you are allowed to have more than 1 licence for a particular class of vehicle here in Australia. I think that was brought to stop forged IDs etc. Don't quote me on this but it is just stuff that I have heard in the trenches along the way.
  21. Welcome to the forums. It's always great to have new members. Good luck in your hunt for a skyline. Take your time, and make sure that you are going to be happy with it. The only sound advice I can pass on is get a really decent alarm system fitted. Unfortunately it is getting to the stage where you need it as a much as you need 4 wheels on the car. Viper do a good alarm. Have a look on ebay for them cos you can generally pick them up a lot cheaper than what you would pay for the same thing here. This is mainly cos the distributor doesn't get any decent rebate on them from Viper. Still, never-the-less they are a great Alarm system. Look forward to seeing you on one of the cruises when you get your new set of wheels
  22. 7 sounds good. leaves time for after work drinks
  23. I had an issue with my front plate. The car yard a bought it from fixed it by snipping the top two corners out. I thought that I could get defected so I contacted a friend who has a friend who is a Senior Sargeant in SA Police and he said as long as the plate is visible and the rego number is clearly visible and not defaced in any way then it is ok. So I don't know. I have driven past a few police cars now close enough for them to see my plate and they haven't stopped me. You can make a decision on that I guess
  24. Sounds like fun. I'm in. Might bring someone along.
