  1. Stolent from wiki "A wheel alignment is part of standard automobile maintenance that consists of adjusting the angles of the wheels so that they are set to the car maker's specification. The purpose of these adjustments is maximum tire life and vehicle-travel that is straight and true when driving along a straight and level road, although most machines and the technicians who use them set the alignment to adjust for crowned roads, as well as correct tracking when driving on turns." Basically it means they adjust your suspension to reduce tyre wear and improve handling. It's ideal to have one over now and then as driving your car, little by little the wheels get out of alignment. In your case you should get one, as big bumps generally change the alignment drastically. How out is it? Show pics?
  2. To be semi cryptic it involves a wake next Thursday Hope you guys have happy fun times
  3. Someone beat me to it... lol
  4. +1, especially on the wheel alignment. I went from this To this These are the parts I needed to fix it. Lower control arm (I got one off a S14, it is exactly the same for a R33, S14 has an extra hole for a sway bar) Tie rod end (brand new one from Nissan Parramatta) Castor rod (rod wasn't actually bent, circular bit was a little stretched) Something else you could have bent was the castor rod bracket (what connects the castor rod to the chassis). I was lucky enough not to bed this
  5. Not going any more due to recent events. Actually, event... no plural about it.
  6. On 17"s probably yes On 18"s probably no Country Cruzin is right on asking a tyre place, they should know what can and can't fit onto a rim
  7. My dad and I put 2 wheels with different brand 275/75/R16s together and we measured a 15mm difference in tyre wall hight alone. Brand X will slightly differ to brand Y
  8. I'm planning on heading up on Saturday or Sunday to watch, where would one park my vehicle?
  9. I wasn't even there and I got pics! OK... I stole them from a different forum, definitely not NS.com... but they are probably on there as the chick that took the photos drives a S15
  10. According to http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/po...34-ss595-1-.pdf a 255 tyre will fit onto rims 7.5" - 9" with standard rim width being 8.5 (this is for 255/40/R17) From what I understand it should be ok
  11. Write your car off by crashing it into my FailBarge plzkthnkx
  12. I don't see myself putting money down to get my car on the track so I think I might go watch. I'm going for a Speed off the Streets day at Wakie on the 11th of Dec if you want a Skyline to be faster than
  13. Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but I read something recently that kind of relates to this. The idea is that instead of using nitrogen in your tyres you use de-humidified air. It's a little strange the process to get it though... Steps. 1. Turn your car on, have A/C as cold as possible blowing towards the floor 2. Deflate your tyres 3. Place compressor in your passenger foot well, close door as much as you can to try and keep air inside the car 4. Put air in tyres 5. Turn off your car 6. ??? 7. Profit Now, I don't know about you guys but I usually show up at most an hour before a track day, usually around the 30 min mark... I'm pretty sure if I tried this I'd miss half the day Just food for thought though, might give it a go this weekend if I can find my tyre pressure gauge. Most likely I wont though
  14. I should "borrow" a torque wrench from work to tighten up my Rays wheel nuts. Long story short, I tighten my nuts up to a metric |----------this much----------| (or an imperial |----------that many----------|) using a 12" slider bar with a 12" piece of square section, and it worries me every single time lol Using my system probably only puts out about 90 Nms, assuming I only stand on my bar and not push/jump on it lol
  15. Bad luck on the damage, I was hoping that you only put out your alignment You probably can limp it around safely for a little while, but it is going to be wearing your tyres out because it is out of alignment so it will definitely be better getting it fixed sooner rather than later. When I hit a gutter in my car I bent some parts, not too sure if a "knuckle" was one of them. The only thing I can think of is you might have bent the tie rod end (like I did) or possibly the inner tie rod. These are the only things I know of that could be described as "knuckles." Look how far my 4 years of being an electrical apprentice got me towards becoming a mechanic This is what I'm talking about. The knuckle I imagine are the parts at the bottom of my photo. If this is the case what I did is bought a brand newy from Nissan Parramatta (bit of a trek for me but club discount ftw ) for around $70, same day pick up. Might be a different story for a R32 GT-R, worst case scenario you find a wrecker that has what you want. Fitting it was fairly easy, I think there where a few circlips to be careful of but other than that it was a breeze. If this is the part you need and you can get it I'll give you a hand putting it in if you want. I'm sure you can find out my number some how Or I could just PM it to you lol
  16. I pulled apart my immobiliser, everything looks pristine there. However... After swapping a relay under the dash with a relay that I had randomly lying around... my car now starts! One of the terminals on the old relay was loose... I'd say it rattled itself to death getting me home Anyways, I'm stoked! Well... a little pissed off that I missed out on Oran Park today but still, it now works! Thanks for your help Chris/Daniel/JOn (who didn't post here... but yeah)
  17. Just tried to jump start my car, didn't change a thing. Starter motor works really well though lol To tell you the truth I'm relieved, if it started that probably would have meant I would be up for an alternator as I'm pretty sure cars aren't usually designed to run off the battery while driving I'm now gong to attack the relays under the dash. I have a feeling that my problem is something to do with them... Thanks for the help
  18. Today I was driving home on Mona Vale Rd at around 70-80km/h when my car stalled. Stalled as in engine off, no power steering, no power assisted brakes. Gauges not working and all in dash lights out. At the time I was playing music loudly and driving with my head lights on. Tried to start the car, it would only turn over, no in dash lights, not even Air bag or HICAS. However, my music continues to play, air con continues to work and my clock didn't reset. After about 30 seconds the dash comes to life and I start the car. Everything sounds as normal. After about 10 mins of driving I decide to see if my car is in limp home mode. Stock boost gage measured full boost where it usually does, revs to 7,000 rpm like it usually does. I get home, pop the bonnet and try to replicate the problem by loading up the car electrically. Nothing happens. At this point I am relieved and decide to get on with my life, by washing my car. I drive my car onto the grass and just before I put my hand on the keys it stops. Like before, gauges and lights are dead. This was about an hour ago and it won't start again. So, what have I eliminated thus far... Battery/Alternator - Car cranks over just fine Fuses - All fuses (or at least the ones I can get at) are not blown Relays - Like fuses, none of the relays show signs of damage Immobiliser - Immobiliser doesn't cause the dash to die... My car is stock except for alarm and immobiliser... Things that I have found odd... Disconnecting and reconnecting my CAS used to cause some relays to energise and de energise. It doesn't any more. Fuel pump won't prime at all. Windows won't go up Like I said, I'm really at a loss. I wanted to go to Oran Park tomorrow, but it looks like that has gone to shit as I need to fix my car before Monday so I can get to work. Thanks for any imput Cass
  19. So who is going to this? I am
  20. Already posted here!
  21. I used to cable tie my P plates on, the plates would deteriorate in the sun and eventually break by flapping in the wind lol My Riceline is my daily and my track and drift bitch. It holds up just fine Famous last words lol I suppose to keep on topic... spotted LimeCordial and Sheng at Macquarie last night
  22. Destination Oran Park plzkthnkx 'cause that is where I shall be
  23. It is a little bit of a worry that a Skyline was stolen reletively locally... Will keep an eye out

    R35 Gtr

lol, lies! I'm sorry for the poor pic, but it was the best I could do from my phone's camera at that distance. Personally I look at my photo and think I'm trying to start a conspiracy like bigfoot
  25. I think you should just get alarm, immobiliser and insurance, a kill switch if you are paranoid. In the end if someone really wants to steal your car, they can always put it on the back of a flat bed. No removable steering wheel is going to prevent that
