I drove the Haltech R35GTR in pissing down rain at Oran Park today. Now I know why Russ was smiling at Superlap

From what I hear Harry, Lakesides future does not look good after speaking to the boys up in Qld. Totally agree Duncan about development and reminement. I would love the S2000 or the Zed to be 700kg just like those under powered winning cars Speaking of those 700kg cars, congrats to Peter Lucas on his awesome display at Eastern Creek last weekend in the little Buzzbox

Wow have I missed some crap on this thread over the last few days LOL Have just spent the last few days at Lakeside raceway........I thought they were going to spend money on the track Looking at the stuff that has been written....I was wondering if this is still a superlap thread?? I would certainly like to have a response from superlap on the thread. C'mon Ian and Nathan, I am sure you have caught up on sleep

That pic above is not on purpose. That is the left hander through the esses at Oran. The apex is about four car lengths in front where his car is positioned. I think that is a classic mistake from turning in too early at the previous right hander

Sometimes it is hard to understand the way some people write things on forums and sms. I did not take it the wrong way at all Ben, all good mate. Ah yes Pablo lol I have been wanting to get into the series for a while. Had the deal done with a V8 team (the aussie car was going to be the same colours as the V8 supercar etc) and then all of a sudden the budget was put into the V8 The tyres on the S2000 make a huge difference. I suppose it would be nice to take it out and have a play with the suspension to see if we could improve it. This car was really just put together as a toy and has never been tuned for the track until now. The main thing we have been playing with is the turbo and boost, just to try and make it a bit more driveable
-
LOL as ROY said williamsf1, you could not even compare the two driving styles in two very very different cars. Believe me, I was trying to drive to S2000 smooth. Ummmmmm 450HP atw, RWD, road tyres vs anything AWD is going to look................lets say different. I think Mark is doing a super job in the R32 vid

The car use to have a GT35 when it was running straight line stuff. It now runs a GT32 to give it some mid corner speed at the track. I think a good set up 180 or S15 would give it a run. Practise lol if you call 4 or 5 laps in the car around Oran, I suppose you can call that practise
-
lol Elias has thought about it. Because it has never been a specific track car and was/is his daily driver/toy it would probably just make it a little too hard to carry his kids. I would think it is a fair bit heavier than standard. I am pretty sure a standard car is 1200+kg. Maybe you would know the standard weight.

This one will never break drive shafts

The S2000's suspension was bought in Japan and installed by Elias years ago when the car was first built. As far I know it has never been touched or played with since taking all of the bits out of the boxes and installing it all on the car. I think some people just play with cars too much and get lost with a setup. Standard S2000's are shocking to drive. Even though they have a 50/50 weight balance, they have a very short wheel base and are just so snappy in a slide. I am pretty sure we were running Toyo's or Falkens. BTW JP I think you can change the OP GP time in your sig

I am hearing you Dave Mac I still can't believe that Brett tagged a car at a sprint. There was one situation that I was in, were a GTR would not let me pass. To be honest he probably did not know I was even there, so why stick it up the inside. I thought I still have another 2 sessions. I think the word is patience

Our driver is not a paid professional (drives for his dads BMW team) but we thought in the spirit of the event and good sportsmanship it would be best to enter open class. Unfortunately not everyone is as sporting as we are. Is that like saying Paul Morris is not a paid professional and just drives for his dads little V8 supercar team And I did not have a chance to check out the talent. So can anyone 'please explain'
-
I am no pro driver....ummmmmmmmm not stupid or illiterate. And I will correct you. I do not run an Advanced Driving School. No Professional drivers will be allowed to enter Clubsprint Class. The promoter will be the sole arbiter as to which drivers are classified as “professional”. As a guide, anyone who has been paid a wage or salary to drive in a competitive form of motorsport will not be allowed to drive in Clubsprint Class. Competitors are encouraged to contact the Promoter to confirm the eligibility of drivers prior to entering. Have I been paid a wage or salary hahahahahahahahaha I WISH Just facts, not rude Can we find someone else to pick on

On the lines thing. Duncan is spot on. That is the line over the dogleg. Have you guys never watched a V8 race, improved production race. Check out the pic's of Lofty, Berry, Waldo and myself from the weekend. We are nearly on the grass. The reason Dave, the little Lotus don't use ripples is because of there weight. Any open wheeler or light weight cars will not use ripples around oran, trust me they just get thrown around way too much.

Dirt Why do people always look for excuses Obviosly the people that it offended had no idea what a cat looks like. Maybe they were just dazed by being passed by a little Honda. Seriously, if they bothered to stick there head under the car (That is where cats are usually placed) they would have seen a pair of brand new (and working) cats. Thought that I might remind you that I was faster on road tyres than your car was on race tyres. I would love you to put some road tyres on and come and join us. Bring on the next one BTW I thought I would just remind people that Honda power was 1st in both classes

Yes please for a drive of the R35 Sounds like it would give a GT2 a run for its money!!! And yes at way less than half the price.

The win was given to the BEL Evo driven by Garth Walden for the shootout part only. The Lotus driven by Peter Lucas still ended up winning the day overall in open class. I am pretty sure Mackie said he was held up by me actually. I was on my cool down lap and saw him approaching quickly as he was about to start his flying lap. Not sure if I really held him up, as I saw him and got out of the way. I actually did the fastest cool down lap of any of the sprint class cars. But??????? I don't know what Tim saw or felt. Because his tyres were warm, I don't think it was in the spirit of the shootout as it was a one lap flyer. 15 Dave Loftus 1:41.4448p 18 Tim Mackie 1:13.5610 1:27.4500p6:05.9210 1:12.0270 24 Peter Lucas 1:13.5670 1:19.8576p 30 Mark Berry 1:14.9920 1:25.2130 38 Garth Walden 1:13.4250 1:21.0126p These are the times from the shootout. It shows Tim doing a 13.5610 on the lap when he said he was held up (correct me if I am wrong please Tim) and then shows the 12.0270 when he went out the second time when the tyres were warm. Look how close Tim and Peter were on there first shootout lap. That is why I wondered if Tim actually got held up. On a side note. I wonder why Tim could not produce a 12.0 during the day. Why Tim, why?? That would have won the day for open overall by about .08 of a second!!!!!!!!!! This is what I heard, somebody can correct me if I am wrong though.

HAHAHA No Elias drove it to and from the track. Boys and girls, rules are rules. And we fit the rules with the S2000. There are penty of good drivers around, and many of them were in club sprint. I love all of this The cars are just going to get faster and faster. We may end up with 3 classes next time. Everybody likes to have a whinge after the event I was just pleased for Elias. He is a private owner with no workshop backing, and to have his car on the track and entertaining the crowd gave him a huge buzz. I think I am going to buy it anyway, so next year I will be the owner LOL GTR Jason I will drive your car for free, as I did with both on the weekend. I can drive as many as you can supply

- pro drivers in clubsprint class. Seems like you have to throw a pro driver in your car to be competitive, kind of ruins the ethics of amatuers 'having a go' driving their own cars. Isn't that what the clubsprint class is all about?? If your too scared to drive your car by all means put a pro driver in it, but enter it in open class. Who were the pro drivers?

This is the feedback that we need raps86. I cannot believe Brett ran into you Aaron34!!!!!!!! WTF

A bit hard to compare. The S2000 was driven to and from the track!!!!!! All of the serious cars in open have cages, proper circuit mods, etc The S2000 was/is a daily driver. The engine had 50,000km's before this week. Yes, it is a weapon though.

Or an S2000!!!!!!!!!!

What an awesome event Thankyou so much JP for letting me drive the ZED. I thought we did pretty well considering the level of competition. It has been a long time since I have driven the ZED, and quickly realised it needed a miner change to make it faster for the day. It was not an easy change to do, so we just drove it as it was. To come home 6th outright and fastest RWD 6 cylinder was an awesome effort. To the crew, friends and family, thankyou for your help, support, good humour, food and coffee. The ZED will certainly be faster next time. I must say, I cannot get over how big the power slides were in the ZED.......it certainly does not need anymore power to make it faster :PBJ: To my 2nd car, the little S2000 Elias, you are a champion. Knowing how busy you are with your normal business, it was an amazing effort to get the little Honda to superlap. The engine was only put back together on thursday. The car was suppose to get its brakes sorted on thursday and friday, but never really did. So Elias had some spare calipers, put some new pads and fluid in and we just crossed our fingers. That car has never had a test and tune day, so we did not know what to expect. First session we got a low 18 on a damp track, which was actually good enough to win the day. The 2nd session the track was warmer and without water we cranked out a 17.1. During that session the car lost boost, as I was wanting a 16. The boys did an awesome job to get it back together for the afternoon. I used the last session to practise for the shootout. It was great feeling the car walk around on the big tread blocks on the tyres that we had to use. We will certainly be back with the Honda again to have another crack We ended up with a 17.4 or 17.5 in the shootout which gave us the win for both outright and shootout. I thought it was great to have the little rear drive, 4 cylinder in front of so many other cars. The next rear driver was in 12th outright. We ended taking out editors choice award from Fast Fours as well. Thanks!!!!! That is what superlap is about. Having such a different sort of vehicle battling it out with the normal style of track weapons. Thanks to the EVO crew for sharing the garages with us And thankyou to the organisers and sponsors for all of the effort and faith you had in this style of event. Hopefully it has given you a positive outlook so that these events can continue to happen. It requires alot of money and guts to do this, and for a first up effort well done PS best presented went to LOFTY and the BSM crew. Well deserved for all of the effort those boys have put in. Pity about the gear stick Dave!!!!!!!!!! I have just finished working at oran park today teaching rally driving, so I am off to bed. On a serious note, we need to do something about all of the people just walking down the middle of pitlane. When I was practising for the shootout in the 3rd session, I came into the pits about 3 times and had to giveway to the pedestrians that had no idea, and had there backs to me walking down the middle of the pits.
