  1. Only a week and a bit to the warm up on the 5th June
  2. Warren Luff has qualified 19th. Read his email to me below. Hi All, Well its midnight friday night here and we have just finished night qualifying which went from 7.30pm till 11.00pm, we also had a 90 session his morning. We ended up p19 out of 220 starters which also means we get to run a blue strobe light on the roof of our car, only the top 20 cars get this and its basically a signal to the rest of the field that a fast car is coming and they must get out of your way. Also on pit stops you get priority in pit lane, in our garage we have 6 teams based in there so it gets rather busy. But on a pit stop if we come in and they are in doing there stop our guys can basically push their car forward to make room for ours and take the refuelling hose out of their car. Dont think we are going to make too many friends in our garage!!!!!!!!!!! Practice and qualifying today was very busy out on track, trying to get a clear lap is virtually impossible. So you are just trying to get the clearest lap you can, but some of the driving standards leave a lot to be desired. The Porsche that is on pole position from Manthey racing ended up having a big shunt with a slower car and ripped all the front bar and radiators out of the thing, also their number 2 car had a oil line come loose and the thing nearly burnt to the ground. So you dont have to look far to find chaos out there. The night session was good fun, i only did 1 lap right towards the end but it gives you a taste of what is to come tomorrow night. Lets just say it will be busy out there!!!!!! Any way race start tom is 3pm local time here which is 11pm Aus, so keep your fingers crossed for us and hopefully I will have a good report for you all after the race. Enjoy a relaxing weekend, mine will be a little busier than normal. Wazza
  3. HAHAHA I cannot believe how much this topic has got off track.
  4. HEHE yes it was great fun. Nothing like putting $730k worth of cars on a dirt road I am just wondering how fast fours got it, as I thought the story was for MOTOR only.
  5. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Was it in Fast Fours???
  6. LOL I think you will find that it is Garth. I think BEL are trying to be a little bit secret sssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  7. How come so few people have entered for Superlap???
  8. Hey Jas, just don't crash!!! 47 people confirmed for the 5th June at Oran GP. Good to see a number of people coming out before the big one on 5th July.
  9. Don't worry lofty, you and I could make a road block with our two cars so BEL and there driver (GW) cannot get past
  10. Don't slow me down too much around the corners Jas
  11. Hey crew, Just letting you know that I am in Perth and have found out we already have 42 people booked for the 5th of June. I think it is being capped at 50. Get your scates on if you are interested and call me. 0412 574 010
  12. OK lads I have organised Oran Park GP Warm up for this event has been organised. Is on the 5th June on the GP circuit. The event has nothing to do with Superlap but I thought all of you who are keen to get some advice on lines, set up etc might want to come on out. The cost is around the $300 and is run through Ian Luff Motivation Australia. The cost will be well worth it if you are wanting some great advice on how to go faster etc Trainers are still yet to be confirmed but will probably include Luffy, Ben Porter (Current National Formula Vee Champ). Ian Dyk (Formula Ford, Carrera Cup, Australian A1 GP Driver) and myself. I am trying to organise a discount for those on this forum. I cannot respond to PM's for some reason but do not hesitate to call me for further info if needed 0412 574 010 I am away again this week doing driver training in Perth and Queensland so will not be able to respond to questions during the week that much via the forum. Cheers
  13. Not really a MOTOR or WHEELS sort of event. TARMAC would be interested in this though!! I will get onto them
  14. Harry, buy a timer There is always a problem when insurance firms see timing at a driver training day. That way we don't have to have specific timed and untimed sessions. And the trainers can be in the cars as often as you like I am pretty sure most of the regulars have there own timers.
  15. 44's around the Island is not mucking around. Sounds like we are going to have some mega serious weapons at this event. So has anyone else been doing any testing?? JP, how is the NASA aero testing going? GTR Jason, when will your car be ready for testing? Looks as though I will be putting on a day at Oran GP in early June. It will be during the week with quality driver training on hand to give free tuition. I will keep everybody posted.
  16. Just got back after doing 1200km in 2 days in two of the best cars I have driven for a while. Actually the GT2 is probably the best standard road car that I have ever driven. Sorry about not coming out during the day. We arrived at 7.30am and left oran at 8.00am after figuring out it would take too much time for the track to dry to do the acceleration and lap times that we needed. We had to do a road drive and the photographer wanted to take plenty of pic's. We had an hour at wakefield on wednesday afternoon and I was able to punch out some numbers. Did not change the tyre pressures as we leave them at the manufactures spec's CLK AMG BLACK SERIES 1.08.63 PORSCHE GT2 1.05.05 I was hoping to get into the 4's in the porky at Wakey but it did not happen....oh so close!!! Must go to bed as I am down at Wakefield Friday (today) as the instructor for www.circuitclub.com.au
  17. Just heading out the door to meet up with the GT2. We are heading through Picton and the south coast today. Will end up at Wakefield just before 3pm to have a couple of hours on the circuit with both!!! Eastern creek is out today but will be at Oran tomorrow with both. May go through alot more than one tank of juice today
  18. Hey JP For sure at oran with the black pair on thursday. Could be in the morning now. We will have the R35 for PCOTY and do a full comparo with the fastest and best cars available in aust throughout the year. Should be interesting when the R35 comes up against the GT2. Have just got home and used a tank of juice in a few hours in the BLACK clk This thing has serious mumbo
  19. Hey Brad I don't think it will happen today as I have a pretty full schedule. I am not sure what is happening with the car once we have finished with it. I think MOTOR mag hand it back to AMG merc on monday. The deputy editor for the mag who is going to be with me for the next few days writing the story on the GT2 vs CLK 'Black' has also made the car available to himself for the rest of the weekend I think the GT2 will smash the AMG to be honest. Pretty sure the AMG 0-100km is 4.2 and the GT2 is 3.6 seconds!!! Can't wait to see what times they do around the circuits. I know it is off topic but I will keep you all posted.
  20. Private practice is at Oran Park GP this thursday. I am sure there will be a few people getting some laps in before SL 08. Should be able to get on the circuit by 9.30am if you have a proper CAMS licence. Depending on what cars turn up, there may be a couple of different sessions ie for open wheelers, sedans etc
  21. Cannot wait to see how it goes now Dave. More power, bigger rubber, less weight......
  22. Hey Brad You can come and look at the BLACK series AMG. Actually anyone can look at this amazing car as it is owned by AMG MERC. I am testing the AMG and GT2 for MOTOR and have been forced to do laps at the listed circuits in both of these cars. Warren Luff is the usual Stig for MOTOR but is busy with Porsche doing drive days so I was next in line. Both the GT2 and AMG are black. So I think we might get noticed driving around.
  23. Yes it is the 'BLACK' CLK just like the F1 pace car. This is the only one in the country at the moment. Australia is getting a limited number of 50!!! It is currently on a truck on its way from Melbourne. It will be in Sydney in the morning and I will have it by lunch
  24. Looks as though I will be out at oran later in the afternoon on thursday to have a play in the GT2 and the AMG. I will be at Wakey with them on wednesday and maybe Eastern creek as well. Will be using oran at the end of the day on thursday to do 400m times. So yes, I am trying to do all 3 tracks in two days with 2 hot cars...life is hard sometimes
  25. 45.8 is super fast. What are you guy's going to do with more track time. Might see if I can bring the GT2 or the 'Black' CLK AMG out for a blast on thursday!! Should be interesting as Loftys car is good for low 46's with the restrictors in it and full IPRA weight.
