yea r334door, i will do it myself, learn alot more along the way, and do it the way i want it, eg. line paths etc. but its cool im not in a rush anymore.

just getting an estimate, ive narrowed it down to a ball bearing Garrett T04Z=$1800. better to spend the money, and get a good one so it lasts. + a hi mount manifold = $812. looking to have it all done within 1-2mths. plus, just finished polishing my new plenum, so if this bloke welds it up for me, i am aiming to get it on this weekend. may have to work thru the night. i will probably install the turbo myself now, prob get me dad to do most of the work, he knows his turbo's. just means another thing i have to do, get oil lines, adapters, fasteners etc. whereas if i just gave it to someone it could be done in 1-2 days. but yea. will do it myself. then chuck it on a trailer and tow it down to maroochy exhaust centre, kunda park=legends do a good job.

yea i went to him when i dropped u off last time and just asked him, if he could wack it in. and he went all "its not as simple as that mate" on me. so i dont think i will let him do it. might just get him to do a clutch. nothing else. all i can say is thank god for family friends that are mechanics. they can sign u off for scheduled maintenance, and dont give u shit, and actually like u to help them through the process.
-
dont u guys hate what some mechanics say... especially on imports. went to a mechanic, and asked if he could stick in a turbo for me as an estimate (got no time for it diy) and figured he would have all the lines and stuff ready to go.. the bloke says "mate its not as simple as that mate" and im thinkin, yea i know mate, dont want excuses, i probably have more knowledge in my thumb then your hollow head!!!! been to about 4 different mechanics all say the exact same thing. gets to the point when u want to stick the farkin thing in their face. man.... mechanics can be soo condescending, stuff them.!!!! eventually i never got a price, he kept making excuses....so fk him, diy........eventually anyone got any other stories.!

dude. just get a stainless steel poddie. as long as it is not smaller than the inlet on the turbo your fine. now stop asking. light a fire under your butt go buy one, get some mods ready for your soon to be (r34)
-
it is confusing. i remember reading on boostcruising that the rda said u can only have 1 intake mod ie. a pod OR a fmic. but if u had both, it is defectable?!?!! and it has to be fastened in place, but they brought in a new one, that it has to be enclosed in a box *this is scary when a cop was looking ova my engine bay, and i asked him if the pod was defectable (this was like 1yr to 6mths ago) it was a perception thing. in that different cops may think its defectable, when others are fine with it.!!!! WTF???

yep... towards 5pm

oi cd. i reckon u could get away with ur standard brakes the way they are atm. just upgrade the pads, and add a few air ducts in there. also properly bedd the brakes in aka BEDDING. also a brake booster stopper is worth a gander. found out the shudders u feel when braking aren't the disks (90%of the time unless theyre ancient), its from inpropper bedding in of the brake pads. residue is producing uneven patches on the disk. http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_bedintheory.shtml http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm keep in mind champ, slotted/drilled rotors, dont cool the brakes, only allow gass to escape. if u take off the rear protector plate, and have a few guides it will be sweet. unless ur rotors are seriously fkd..........................buy some R35 rotors BWAAAAAHAAAAAA
-
that is insane. how many hrs did it take?
-
hey M mate, just caught up on your post. it would be useless to install 2 pods. they dont suck in any more air. because the turbo only sucks in a specific amount, although it has the surface area of the pods to work with, it cant suck in more air than it already uses. and how would u work the afm, would u have 2 or bypass 1? lol, did u see it done on a gtr and like it? basically if u have a free flowing filter, and a box, WITH A CAI DUCT u will be sweet. good luck

sooooooo gay wessa. atleast your crazy alarm worked. i cant believe no one heard the alarm. i went deaf when u showed me. well. will keep my ears open.
-
in all seriousness these guys are right mate. a plumb back/stock bov is fine. when u are pushing bigger power, keep a plumb back if u wish. but wat u want to get is a bov with a larger diameter.

Is Bov Vent Better Than Plumback?post Views-poll-
r33cruiser replied to cosworth1971's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i constantly change between my ssq bov, and my stock plumb back one. ive never had any probs with the ssq vta bov. no leaks, and none of this stalling urban myth. usually run the vta, but i do agree it can get anoying, it is really great when just cruising. but when u floor it, everyone can hear and know u are fanging it, then comes the PPPSSSCCCTTTTHHH. now with the stock bov, u can floor it without the 'wanker, tryhard' factor. vta good for cruisin/showing off. plumb back= good for drags, drift etc. especially at night keeps it quiet...er *i just use a broom handle stick to block off the return hose u have to ask yourself can a plumb back do this rofl -
hey mate. would u have the afr readout of it, on a dyno. if possible?
-
u want to double check where u posted this mate. post it in the forced induction section. and they have a full info sheet about turbo upgrades and performance. they are a great help good luck
